Has anyone bought some non-Sony 3D glasses for this? The Sony recommend ones are £50 for 1!!
Seen some on eBay for £23 for a pair of knocks that are meant to work.
Any advice guy?
Thanks

Instead of listening to people and reviews which we always be bad as hardly anyone writes good reviews these days. I'd go to a store and test them, take your own content in, any testing files you may want to take and make a formal decision by yourself and not listen to the bad reviews that are mostly old or people who read them and get confused. As with most updates everything has been communicated along with dates. But, dates can be pushed back which seems to be the biggest complaint at the moment. Just because one person comes in to this chat doesn't instantly make the product bad.

Just like you, frankie1g is allowed to express his/her opinion and I think that will help people make an informed decision. If you are fine with the existing issues, then that is great. I for one I'm interested in knowing more about a product especially if I'm about to spend hundreds on the item.

Hi go on the Sony community forums look at bravia 2015 issues. The tv is a turkey many of the promised features are delayed or poorly implemented. if you want to use digital TV only eg . youview you will have a nightmare time. many sets returned under sales of goods act.as not as advertised and not fit for purpose.

Yup.

25 Nov 15#27
is it then just a matter of adding sources to kodi as you usually do?
You shouldn't need to sideload Kodi, its on the Play Store.

Don't have Sky, but from watching iPlayer and blurays, it upscales very good, obviously watching no bigger than 1080p will look better on the W829. However the 4K does a great job of upscaling the image. Sony know how to produce a picture they always have!

Bought 809cbu from currys last weekend at £629 (649-20 o2 priority). The main difference is 809cbu is 1000hz and 805cbu is 800hz. However, we should not notice the difference. Currys only offer 1 yr warranty. This 50 extra does worth for the 6 year warranty

Id be interested to know in your honest opinion how in real world watching sky etc? If the sony 4k really is any better than a 829 in terms of picture quality(hard to believe it could be with 1to1 pixel mapping etc, scaling and so on) I also have the 50 " 829 and a hx853 55" both great sets!

After checking reviews Ordered via price match with John Lewis. IMHO 4k is currently a waste of money, very little content available ( several years before BBC/ITV launch channels ) and today's 4k sets may not be compatible these broadcasts as the standard is yet to be set in stone

These are great TVs if you're ok with making a cup of tea in between pressing a button on the remote control and that action being carried out. This set will be obsolete within 6 months, OLED will be in reach of most people fairly soon. -LG already in the game, now Panasonic are in the mix.
Good luck with your obsolete kit

did this come out before the 55W829? still, a cracking deal...just as long as the reviews support it. there are some sony TV's that have not done well because of the android software. just take some time to read some reviews before jumping on. i missed out on the 55w829 so this has now gone on the list of possibilities.
agree with poster above, don't get too bogged down with 4K, overated

No this came out after. But if the picture quality is anywhere near the quality of the 829 with android then your in for a treat!

Bought the 50" version of this from a John Lewis price match earlier this year. Great TV with excellent quality picture and we are using an indoor aerial. Got mine hooked up to a sound bar. Wasn't that impressed with the 3D, depth of picture not enough, items didn't seem to jump out at you as expected.

Very well reviewed TV and a good price. Note it's not 4K. This is one that I'm considering very strongly as I don't see 4K being that big for another couple years and I probably wouldn't notice much difference. Also I would want to have a 4K set with decent HDR but don't want to pay that much right now.
So I'm looking for the best screen quality in this price range and size and not concerned about 4K or not, this one looks pretty good according to the reviews.
