Sonos are doing the two Play:1's for £299 again, saving £39 from RRP. Ideal if you want to get started with Sonos or to add to your current kit.

Same price at JL.

Not a deal. Its a typical price also being sold on Amazon

That's the whole point of this site, the people will decide if it's a good deal or not by voting - and by the looks of it they seem to judge it a "hot" deal :sunglasses:

Amazon and John Lewis have price matched Sonos's offer. No white available at JL
This IS a deal as it's a twin pack with a discount, usually only available individually boxed but this is the second year they have run this offer.

Sonos run specials. There is nothing to say that a retailer cannot buy in big stock and continue selling beyond the sonos offer period. The price has not been widely available for the last 2 months.

hello, camel is showing that price but it's been oos for a few months since this 'offer' first came to market and sold out earlier in there year.

well it's cheaper than £169 each so IMO it's a deal regardless of how long it has been running.

Thank you. I'm sure some people who are looking for Sonos this Christmas without knowing too much about them may find the deal helpful. May not have knowledge that it has been that price (albeit OOS) since May.

Richer sounds also doing it for £299 and including a 2 year guarantee FOC
edit: actually looking at Sonos website any authorised seller of Sonos ships with a 2 year guarantee.
"Returns, replacements and refunds

£300 for 2 speakers... am I missing something :-)
Nice but pricey imho for what it does... but still a deal for people in the market when one speaker is £169.

12 Nov 15#19
You certainly are missing something. Sonos is a fantastic ecosystem with top quality speakers. Can't go wrong with it. And they are in it for the long haul unlike other electronic brands that bring out wireless systems and then drop / change them on a regular basis.

If you don't have Sonos then you are missing something.
Brilliant system, but not cheap if you want to do it properly with the sound bars, subs etc. Very much worth it though.

12 Nov 15#48
Hmm not sure what you're talking about, you're definitely missing the world of the audiophile whereby £300 is considered budget. Have a visit on Richer Sounds and SuperFi and educate yourself and no paying £300 for a pair of speakers is not expensive. It's all relative if you can't afford it then you can't have it, it doesn't mean it's expensive or overpriced.
Thought these were each about £100 via Amazon EU sites. At least much less than rrp.

Genuine question, can I play my ITunes match library on these either standalone or via my iPhone?
sJohnson23 to paulj48
12 Nov 15#26
Kind of. You *have* to download any music to the iPhone before playing it - it's because Sonos don't have Airplay built in and Apple don't allow third party access to iCloud.
coupsta123 to paulj48
23 Nov 151#66
You can download the Sonos desktop app on your PC or Mac assuming you have your music on a PC and it will play your entire music library without iTunes. Simple and brilliant....

I'm certainly not dissing it.. I know its a very good product my friend owns one and loves it, I just wished it was a little bit cheaper than I could justify buying one myself. Looks like a nice bit of kit for sure, but it cost more than my monthly mortgage so think i'll be waiting for some awesome Black Friday deal to pop up first :P
rhinopaul
12 Nov 151#23
You dont say.I'm not disputing its a good price but in my opinion its not a deal if its the same price its always been. It isnt a reduced price and other sellers are selling it at the same price therefore its not a deal. Some Sheeple.
sjaddy
12 Nov 15#24
It is a reduced price because I went to buy these two days ago direct from Sonos and they were £338 (as in no discouhnt from being 2 individual ones), now it is £299.
rhinopaul
12 Nov 15#27
Strange that Sonos increased there 2 pack then as when released they were £299 and Amazon has been selling them for £299 but you say 2 days ago at Sonos they were £338 and now £299. Call it a deal if you want, I would have just bought them from Amazon.
paulj48
12 Nov 15#28
Well that's me out then, how in this day and age can a high end speaker manufacturer add so many 'sources' but leave out Airplay?

12 Nov 15#29
Good to see this offer back on again. The Sonos Play 1 is a great little speaker for it's size and even more so now TruePlay tuning is available through the app. I've certainly noticed that it's improved the sound of mine.
In my opinion two of these used as a stereo pair sound better than my Play 5. Not as powerful but a better soundstage,.
Benito2k
12 Nov 15#30
Not sure if you are being deliberately obtuse but this 2-pack has not been available for quite a while, including Amazon. This is a deal. Sonos haven't changed the price, they simply weren't available and had to be purchased individually.
rhinopaul
12 Nov 15#31
LOL. No price reduction = no deal whether in stock or out of stock. Its the price it has always been. Its a good price but not a deal.
Benito2k
12 Nov 15#32
It's not a case of 'No stock' it was a limited deal. That deal expired, back up to full price. The deal is now being repeated. I bought an additional Play 1 2 months ago and they were only available individually. This is a deal.
wozwebs
12 Nov 15#33
Correct - no idea why rhinopaul is bleating on about it not being a deal. The comments plus 193 degree heat so far says otherwise. As mentioned, the Amazon price may be on camel camel but with no stock they could have put any old price on it. RRP is £169 per speaker although most places have them at £163 each. If you were after 2 of these this is a saving that wasn't here yesterday and is now for a limited period, if you can't see that this is a deal then vote cold and move on to the next post and moan about that.

12 Nov 152#34
With respect, you're missing the point. There's nothing about this site that states that "deal" has to be a reduced price from an RRP or compared to other retailers.
Just because this item has always been £299 doesn't mean it's "not a deal". The OP has posted the deal to help make people aware - it will go hot or cold or somewhere in between. It's helpful to comment and suggest other retailers that are the same price and if you feel it's not a deal don't vote or vote cold. Why you feel the need to reply to every other comment that it's "not a deal" is beyond me - why not let people decide for themselves?

Sonos ran this promo as a trial at Easter to see if it would work, and they sold out. The price rarely changes so £300 for 2 speakers which are £163 each everywhere is decent.

The play 1 was only updated a year and a half ago. So expecting the Play 3 next year is a possibility. As for the resellers, throughout the out the year they have been selling for £163 (£326 for 2) but this deal is 2 for £299 (£150 each). It's simple, these speakers sound best with a stereo setup hence the offer. Sonos offer quality wireless sound and with the intro of trueplay they now sound even better! Hot deal!

I'm just going to add my thoughts here. I have a Sonos 5. The concept and the way it works is fantastic, but in terms of sound there is really nothing special about these speakers at all. They're good, but not excellent. I was a bit disappointed when I first heard them after the rave reviews they get. However it's still more than worth it for the convenience and the multi-room features.

so.... once you have your two sonos play ones what do you think you should save up for next ?

you can buy something to get your tv to play out of these can't you? I have a Dolby surround set up at the moment but it cost less than one of these speakers so guessing the sonos set up would be amazing !

See this is why hotukdeals has no consistency. This is a standard deal everywhere and hardly hot. The hot deals are those that show this cheaper like the smart home sound deal at 279 but that deal gets voted cold.

Positing a deal for something (e.g. a Sonos sub) which is cheaper elsewhere then insulting anyone who votes cold usually receives the ice cold treatment it deserves
