I believe you can buy 'pass-through' mics, but I'm afraid I don't have time to search right now, but I've seen 'em!
(so, in short, yes).
Not quite what you're after, but I've known people to use these for adding a mic to a decent pair of headphones, and they sound perfectly clear over mumble/TS

Best headphones for gaming, I compared them with a pair of Turtle Beach Phantoms. The HD 598 were much better sounding, more natural, and the comfort is night and day, these are how headphones SHOULD feel on your noggin.
If mine broke, I'd replace them immediately even if I had to pay a bit more than this!

I bought these last month for £98 from Amazon France. I certainly don't regret it - wonderful sound and superbly comfortable. Great for gaming too! Sound separation is great and contrary to what some say the bass is excellent. The open back speakers are also a benefit not a problem in my opinion - Stops you from missing an important telephone call or hearing the kids sneaking up on you. I can't recommend these enough and Amazon service was second to none. Have some heat.

I got these last year when thsy dropped significantly in price. Amazing clarity but produced too less bass for my liking due to my taste in music. In the end I opted for Philips Fidelio X2.
