Not worth it !! Are you serious.

a) It won't break down
b) It will drive OK
c) It's VERY cheap
d) Fully warrantied
e) 10,000 miles per year is sufficient

I'd like to see you try and run a new car for less per month, even if it's not a class leader.

If you think that leasing companies are making money just on customers... . I dare to say that more than 50% of their profits are based on preferential purchase price and the volume of sale.

And with regards to scratches and bumps, please read this :

No one would expect you to return 2yrs old car without any blemishes, this is normal wear and tear thing.

Took the plunge on a different lease the other day and had an email about GAP insurance.

The do I, dont I, question is running around in me head lol, opinions from GAP users appreciated.
Any recommendations where to get solid GAP cover for a decent price feel free and, excuse my ignorance here, but is GAP insurance just for the first initial year of the lease or for the full duration, in this case three years?

I would be the first to admit that I am not a new car person to me they are to big an expense just to have it fresh from the factory. Having said that I can't understand all these muppets comparing leasing unfavourably with buying second hand. If I was to buy new this is the kind of deal that makes most sense for the modern driver or small family. Some jobs favour a new car (and so do some wives) and if that is the situation you are in then a fixed cost over two years for trouble free motoring can be a very attractive proposition.
Ed2091

Alternatively, visit somewhere like http://www.rogerhotchkisscarsales.co.uk buy their 2012 SEAT IBIZA 1.4 SE for £6795... probably don't loose anyway near as much over 2 years...
Clarioner
11 Nov 15 3 #12
Great deal!... Vote on the deal, not whether you like the car (or the parent company).

Some really good deals around on the Hyundai i30 1.6 SE CRDi right now... very similar lease breakdown, in stock etc.... full warranty and 2 year service interval. Just helped a colleague secure one. At these prices you're outpacing the depreciation and you get a new car every 2 years and no road tax to pay, not mot, no hassle...

It's a no-brainer. If took a car loan @ £140/month you'd probably be able to borrow around £4500 max over 3 years (not 2 yrs)... so think what you'd be able to buy with that?... and you'd be left with an old banger at the end to get rid of, tyres, exhausts, brakes need doing,water-pumps going.

I love leasing! (btw)
hcc27 to Clarioner
11 Nov 15 1 #23
You make a very coherent argument. Unless you want to buy a 10+ year old car, leasing is the way to go. Here is my personal experience: I bought a 2007 Ford Mondeo Mk4 in 2012 for £8.5K from Car Giant. Just three years down the line and with the 40K miles I've added to it, it's probably worth £4K tops. I've lost £4.5K in three years and that's without taking into account the repairs and maintenance it needed (around £800).

In total I've lost over £5K in three years. Suddenly leasing becomes quite attractive!

Outright purchase is an attractive option if you're skint and say your budget is between 1-2K, so you'll be looking at 10y+ old cars. Such cars have hit the bottom of their depreciation cycle, so you have not much further to lose by keeping one. You'd still certainly get some decent, fairly low mileage and well maintained cars in this price range that will last you a while e.g. Honda Accords, Jazz's, a number of Toyotas etc. Horses for courses I guess.

JPS to Sliwka
11 Nov 15 5 #14
But it won't be a brand new car with brand new technology, will it? It will need £100s spending on it with tax (leasing company pays for road tax on leased cars), MOTs, servicing, tyres, brakes etc etc etc - I get what you are saying but it really isn't as simple as that. You can't compare this brand new car with the latest tech to something that is 7 years old....
genmaxiu to Sliwka
12 Nov 15 2 #101
Sliwka

WTF:)£3600 purchase price then £3000 after 2 years? Not sure how you can manage to get that much after 2years. In my opinion it would be rather £1800-£2000 max. My current car is the last used, will be moving to lease deals just for:
1. peace of mind
2.to bet depreciation
3.no unexpected costs (turbo chargers water pumps brake servos etc)
4.brand new car every 2-3 years

It`s simple math. Figures don`t add up on paper for someone but in real life used car is a piggy bank.

hcc27
12 Nov 15 1 #96
Not really. Mine was a 2008 Feb registered Titanium X spec on a 2007 plate with only 23K miles on the clock and one owner. It had 7 Ford service stamps when it should have had only 4 given the mileage.
In early 2012 when I bought it the cheapest used Mk4 Titanium X Mondeo on Autotrader with anything under 50K mileage was £9K+ (keep in mind this spec brand new was £27K). At the time this model came with Satnav, heated full leather electric seats, keyless start, self-levelling light-activated headlamps, quickclear screens, 9 speaker stereo with a separate subwoofer under the driver's seat (this really kicks ass!!) etc. I haven't had any problems except for routine servicing and brakes through 40K miles of driving over the past 3 years, it is a fantastic car on the motorway and the 2.0 TDI engine regularly returns 60 mpg . I'm getting 40-45 mpg in town. Do not regret buying it one bit except for the depreciation as there are many used ex-fleet cars. I recently went in a Mk4 taxi which had 225K miles on the clock, the driver told me that all he had done was routine maintenance though the DMF was making some noises by that time.

I made the mistake of buying a used MB 2007 E220 CDi with only 55K on the clock just before the Mondeo. It had full MBSH. The engine light came on within 2 weeks of buying it, booked a visit to the dealer immediately and the car went into limp mode on the way and after a few miles broke down. Had to be towed to the dealer. He kept it for a week but couldn't diagnose the problem .Thankfully I was able to get a full refund for the car after I explained to him I was on the verge of losing my job without a car (was commuting to Horsham from London) - one of those rare decent dealers.
A friend of mine who also had a MK4 Mondeo suggested I go for one as it had been utterly reliable for him. It is a really nice car, in fact felt better to drive on the motorway than the E220d. Shame about the depreciation.

Well there is always someone. When I bought it it had only 23K verified miles with 7 Ford service stamps (not sure what the previous owner was on!), and it was a top of the line Titanium X spec 2.0 TDI registered Feb 2008. Couln't find any car private or dealer-wise with this spec and as low a mileage going for around that price at the time. (the car was actually £7.5K and I added a rather unnecessary extended warranty for £1K, as luck would have it I had no major issues except tyres, brakes etc over the 3 year warranty period).

Nearly £4k to drive a seat ibiza for 20000 miles over 2 years and you have to give it back? Lol
dave80
11 Nov 15 #57
Ok, I recently drove a Seat Ibiza and it was crap. It was a 1.4 sport model and it was totally lacking performance and made a lot of noise in the process. I looked up online reviews and they all confirmed it is indeed a noisy engine. It also did not feel anywhere near as good to drive as my Fiesta, I'm talking about handling.

Does that satisfy you?
marathonic
11 Nov 15 #56
Agreed.

Paying 37% of the price of a car over 2 years is a reasonable enough deal - but not red hot.

I'm awaiting delivery of an Audi A4 1.4 TFSI thats costing £4,775 over 2 years for 5,000 miles. If I do 10,000 miles instead, excess mileage charges bring it to £5,495.

This is a car that'd cost £22,371 through Broker4Cars - giving a total cost of under 25% of the price of the car over 2 years. Bearing in mind, this was an honored misprice - but similar deals pop up every now and again if you're patient.
jacko791
11 Nov 15 1 #55
I have this exact car on lease. Paid similar price to this 6 months ago.
The engine is great but it's a tiny car inside so make sure you test drive first. Probably OK if you're under 6 foot.
I've done 5k miles in 6 months and it's not broken down yet but I'm glad I leased it. It's starting to make some odd noises from the rear brakes and front suspension. Engine is also struggling to start up from cold.
I'd be really unimpressed if I'd bought it.
Not a great car if you want something that handles well through the bends. If you're small enough and just using it as a runaround though it's a good deal.

I have the 1.2TSI model and I love it. Lots of punch for a 1.2, fun to drive and cheap to run. Using it whilst I save for something better (and a deposit for a house!). Some reviews suggest that the 1.4 isn't worth paying extra for, I test drove it (didn't really get chance to properly open it up on a road), but I couldn't tell much difference between the 2.

If you are after an Ibiza FR in the near future, the new face-lifted model is coming out soon (I think..), and pretty much bridges the gap between this and the Leon in terms of Technology.

Happy to answer and questions on the car, but great car for the money!

This is the main point here. You can buy this car for £10,472.

On the face of it, seems like a good deal, especially for those who haven't got £10k in savings or can't get a cheap loan.

But this is a lease deal valued at £3.9k over 2 years (when you add the £240 admin fee). Depreciation for this car is going to be around the same over 2 years. So this is not your normal lease deal where it works out significantly cheaper than buying.

Why didn't you post the deal then......oh negative one?

Seems no bad, there's a £280.80 processing fee to add.

I fancied the estate version but way too expensive. Best engine in this deal.

I meant to saw for only slightly more but can't find how to edit on the app. Ibiza is overpriced.

Seems to get a good review from Auto Express..

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/seat/ibiza/59474/seat-ibiza-fr-12-tsi

There's not many deals around for 10k miles with such low deposit and low monthly payment.

What an absolutely brilliant find! Very reasonable deposit and 10k miles a year. If I was in the market for a good looking sporty hatch with loads of tech, a good amount of poke AND very decent economy, I'd be snapping this up!
