I'm surprised at all the bah humbug negativity going on here, other than being mean and stomping on the tree which amused me greatly, my children are young and full of the joys of Santa coming. My wife makes shortbread with our children for Santa's snack, we leave a carrot for Rudolph and he also gets a great big mug of whiskey to keep him warm inside on the cold winters night. In return, Santa writes a little letter thanking them which is sprinkled in his magical Santa dust (glitter) and a trail is left to the front door etc. In the morning they rush down to see if he has been and they usually find a wee bit of cookie and crumbs, the carrot has gnaw marks left by Rudolph and the mug is empty. They haven't made the connection why daddy has a thumping head though, but boy is it great to see them so excited by it all. Something I never had as a child growing up by a single parent on a very low wage, so lighten up people, its a 50p item that has the potential to add sparkle to the illusion that Santa has visited using his Santa key that's left under the front door matt
Personally, I like the shake n vac idea but we will just use the special glittering Santa dust which also vaccumes up nicely

Yes I understand that. We use edible glitter that trails to the front door. No need for footprints to be left, dirty or otherwise, as the magic "Santa dust" is what helps his sleigh to.. Er.. fly so fast.
Why is there none outside ? It got washed away in the rain/ blew away in the wind or maybe covered by the snow ? Fat chance as every Christmas for the past decade at least where we live, has been wet with not a sign of snow anywhere to be seen !!

I don't think it is Bah Humbug, just that in their efforts to capitalise on this part of the Christmas ritual the retailers have produced a product that's use is simply likely to confuse all but the very youngest child.
What you do with tinsel and a letter is totally "believable" for a child, not quite so inverted flour/shake and vac footprints IMHO
As I said earlier, we always put the carrot on a plate with the rum on the floor the night before (latterly wood flooring) surrounded by the flour the kids sprinkled and in the morning there are footprints in the flour, an empty glass and gnawed carrot.

Nice thinking outside the (penalty box). I like it! Some think this stuff is going a bit far, but making the effort keeps the magic alive. I was thinking of leaving some reindeer poop on the garden slabs, any suggestions for that?

Still not getting this white flour or talc method.... it usually rains on Xmas and Xmas morning, why would their be unmelted snow. I don't want to confuse my kid, or be put to the sword on whats that daddy? Thats not snow? Snow melts.... has to be black/brown to simulate a dark dirt and mud colour that boots or hoofs would leave. At least the hoof prints can go on the garden slabs!

Perhaps you should try that new foam that the refs use and spray it before the little nippers get up, that way it will start to disappear just as they notice it, maybe pass it off as melting snow ?
Just a suggestion

If you want to use a snow on this, then stencil should be inverted. Think about it.

I was thinking about the same. Maybe you can powder carpet, put a stencil on and then clean the footptint
Firstly, I was thinking how to do footptints in the snow using this? Hold on! What snow? There is no snow in this country! This is why this should mimic footprints inside... Realised reading comments.

Some of the comments on here are painful! Literally painful! I think this is great so heat added. Definitely a good find that lots will use on Christmas Eve/morning to leave some snowy boot print on the floor to create se excitement that Father Christmas has been!

Santa is supposed to come from Lapland where there is always snow ?

9 Nov 15#47
Exactly! He's flown in from Lapland and as he's rummaging round in his sleigh for the toys he's obviously stood in some snow. Well that's what I reckon anyway.

For my kids the whole point of the footprints and hoof prints was to prove that Santa and Rudolph had actually been. Therefore we put the carrot and glass of Rum in the middle of the wooden floor/lino and the kids sprinkled a couple of feet wide all round the carrot and Rum with plain flour. So in the morning, voila!!! ... The glass is empty, the carrot is gnawed and there were tell tale boot prints and a couple of hoof prints in the flour. The boot and hoof print courtesy of a dampened boot and half an apple/pear/potato slightly remodelled, the dampness lifting the flour and leave great prints.
The boot print on sale must surely leave kids wondering what floury or shake and vac inverted footprints are doing in the living room?

I'm struggling to work out if you seriously dont understand this or if your just having a laugh??
You dont press the stencil into the snow outside to leave an inverse footprint, you just sprinkle talc or whatever through the stencil inside to leave a footprint mark when you remove it...
Why would you sprinkle flour AROUND a boot???
I must be losing it...

it's an adult novelty, and for that reason I've asked them to remove it from the website.

Use with reindeer poo for an authentic effect

9 Nov 151#26
White powders like flour and talc etc are not realistic though? In the unlikely event there has been snow, snow melts and does not look like powder on the carpet. My 6 yr old is not daft and would be confused and see through it. Has to be something dark, that is cleanable and easilly hoovered and won't leave a mess.
Just waiting for a deal post on the reindeer foot now for the garden, if there is such an item?
