I agree with the earlier comment.. I got one for gaming on after someone said it was a great gaming set in the argos post for 177.. But its only a 60hz set and the motion blur is appalling. Tried Fifa out on it and it was making me feel sick. Plus the picture isn't actually that great either.. The images on the game tiles on xbox home screen show it up.. Edges are not clear and smooth but jagged and ugly.. I've gone back to my 28" lg monitor and returning the set to Argos.good set for the.money if you just want a basic TV for watching TV and HD but motion handling is terrible.

I guess yours was faulty as the picture on mine is fantastic and cant detect any motion blur when I set it to FOOTBALL mode.

I'm pretty sure both Dynamic and Standard modes have the screen dimming feature on as default (there is an option somewhere in the menus to turn it off but i can't remember what it was called) where as Movie and Nature don't. Trying the other modes should at least eliminate if it is a hardware / fault with the screen or not.

20 Nov 15#43
I will try it but dont like those modes so only use STANDARD and occasionally DYNAMIC
it wouldnt bug me that much if it stayed dimmer but it keeps popping back to full brightness on dark scenes, then dimming on bright scenes

20 Nov 15#42
Does the screen also dim in movie or nature mode? from what i recall those modes didn't have any dimming settings enabled.

Thanks but already have Eco off. I'm beginning to think my TV is faulty and its only 2 months old.

20 Nov 15#40
Regarding the screen dimming - i think that is to do with one of the "Eco" settings. You can turn them off if you poke through the settings.

Apparently John Lewis wont price match Amazon. The price match company needs to have a physical high street store.

JL only price match companies with at least 1 high street store unfortunately. Defo worth the extra £10 for JL. I've had to claim on their extended warranty before and they were amazing - no questions asked and replacement for full cost of original tv!

This seems incredibly affordable for a full HD 2015 model by a good make and with good reviews for picture quality. And could make it smart with a Chromecast. Tempted. Any reason why one shouldn't get it if in the market for a 32" TV?

The only reason not to get this is because of the appalling sound, but that is true of most LCD TVs. Samsung are worse than most though. The sound is bearable imo only with a set of speakers and even then there is far too much bass.
I also forgot about the stand. If you have a set top box or something you want to put underneath your TV then forget it. Whoever thought of the idea of the stand is an idiot. You cannot put anything under the TV unless it is a very wide box. Apart from these problems it's a good TV.

Thanks, we did read up about RS and their warranties and mostly good (Same as JL  ) and got one from them and on one forum I visit there is an active member from RS who sorts out issues if reported to him, so another avenue to persue if needed in the future.

Same with any retailer, good and bad experiences I suppose, we had Tech Support, CS and a Manager involved, 6 different versions of what was happening at their end and more to it but it was a mess TBH, they were phoning us up to find out was was going on, lol, there's only so much patience one can tolerate for such an easy thing to do (At first they took it to repair it and then forgot to tell us it couldn't be fixed whie we were waiting a week for someone to get in touch), it's all sorted now, refund and new TV from RS, not a good CS experience.

If you buy from richersounds and it gets faulty within the warranty period, then you take it back to any richersounds store they will give you a TV from display, etc to take home until your TV is repaired

Now that is not good news for you agreed but in every dealing I have had with JL & TV warrant they have had it checked over & replaced within 7 days. Once I had a full refund of nearly £1900 after having a set for 3.5 years, this was many years ago when plasma sets were expensive.

I've had a few much older Samsung tvs. 2 small models which have just started having issues. 1 will need to be turned on 10 times for it to actually turn on. the other has dodgy volume. both are many years old!
a 3d samsung tv i got a few years ago was faulty within a year. it would not save the sound and picture settings. it would say it had. but if you toggled them they would become what you at them to. very annoying. the replacement from samsung had the same problem but i couldn't be bothered with all the hassle again and still use it
