This would be interesting if it could be turned 90° into portrait orientation, for text editing.

It has a VESA mount though the included one probably doesn't extend high enough to be rotated on there would be nothing to stop it being mounted on a stand or wall that is.

Ebuyer, yes. I bought a PC few yeas back advertised with a 3 year on-site warranty. When it came it said 1 year on-site. I argued that I had bought it including the 3 year on-site, and in the end they capitulated.
Everyone's mileage varies. I have been working with dual monitors for a long time. The extra workspace is essential as far as I'm concerned but the ergonomics of having one screen in front of me and one to the side isn't ideal and who doesn't hate bezels?
Having considered my own uses an ultrawide monitor gives me everything I'm currently getting from 2 and loses a lot of the downsides. That it's also awesome for media is again just gravy.

Nop that's not even the case... I have such setup myself and I don't have to keep turning head, also the bezels isn't a problem at all. Infact I'm thinking about making a larger table and getting a 3rd monitor.

or just buy 2x 24 inch monitors, giving you much more screen real estate and even better productivity for much less..

I've debated that for my own needs. The problem is you have one monitor situated in front of you, then the other is off to the side so you're turning your head quite a long way to make use of all of it. You also have bezels breaking up whatever you are doing and for most of my needs the extra width from the 21:9 is enough, I don't need 32:9 worth of space.
With a 21:9 you get to sit bang in the middle of it, the gentle curve stops it feeling like the edges are far away and it just happens to be awesome for media and games.

And don't underestimate the productivity gains of ultrawide. Fitting all those windows side by side of the productive things I do with my PC. Excellent way to justify buying something to be productive on which as an added bonus happens to play films and game quite nicely to.

I'm surprised that a £300 monitor only has a 4ms response time.

What monitor that isn't a TN based panel has less?
IPS I don't know of any below 5ms, and VA peaks at 4ms. Which is the price you pay for image quality.
Your average person can see the difference in image quality for a VA panel over a TN panel. Response times are just willy waving once you get down below 5ms.

I already have a 24" monitor so will wait and see if the 34" comes back at £529.
Would be great tho' for watching full frame cinematic movies on.

Isn't 4ms response quite bad for a monitor. After all this is specifically a monitor & not a TV. Id go for the BenQ RL2755HM 27" Ultra Fast 1ms GTG Response Time Gaming Monitor. For £100 less that seems like the much better deal. Or an extra £25 for the G-Sync 144hz model.
Considering it's only slightly smaller & uses a far more compatible aspect ratio.

You're only going to get those response times from a TN panel which means compromising viewing angles and colour reproduction. For someone who just wants it for games, only cares about response time over image quality they're the only choice.
If you want a monitor for balanced use of games, movies, photo's and don't want to always have to sit bang centre VA and IPS provide that capability in a noticable way for your average person and 4ms is going to be fine for all but the most hardcore gamer who is convinced he missed that head shot because of a difference in response time that is still what 7 times quicker than human reaction times?

Came very close to buying the bigger brother S34E790C when that was on offer a while back but I've decided to hold out for the LG 34UC87M to go on offer.
For those that don't know the Samsung is a VA panel type. This is touted as a half way house between the quick pixel response time of a TN panel for gaming, and the colour reproduction and viewing angles of an IPS panel. They also have the deepest blacks outside of an OLED panel.
In practice good IPS will match this for response times and then beat it on viewing angles and colour reproduction.
What they won't beat it on though are black levels and back light bleed and that's where I think the real draw of VA panels is not in pixel response time. The LG 34UC87M and all other LG based IPS curved screens are notorious for back light bleed.

I had the 34" version. Sent it back.. Va panel was terrible.. Sitting next to a £120. Ah-ips panel it looked gash.
Wouldnt touch another va now.. Ips all the way even if the blacks are not quite as deep
