Be careful what you wish for. I received the Edge from Amazon a week ago and to be honest I'm sick of it, was shopping around for regular S6 deals when I stumbled across this one - and with my Argos Card I get the Buy Now pay 6 months later
But to come back to why I have gone off the Edge, the edges do indeed dig in. I know a few reviewers had highlighted this and I thought how bad could it be - turns out it's quite bad. It's not sore or anything, it's just bloody annoying. I find myself most times trying to suss out the best way to hold it, your palm just doesn't wrap round it comfortably at all and unless it's in a case it's not a pleasant handset to hold - and I don't like putting my phones in cases unless I know I'm going outdoors for work or football etc.
Secondly, I found myself touching the edges by accident when typing with the on screen keyboard which also gets old very quickly.
You also do get the slight glare or vignette at the edges too which, although this didn't annoy me too much, is still there.
Finally I just felt that the Edge "features" were crap. The Edge People function only allows you to call or SMS - and since I use WhatsApp mostly this was of no use at all.
The Edge notifications are also locked down to certain apps - again another case of something that Samsung could have optimised so much more.
All in all I just think the regular S6 offers all the benefits of the Edge model but in a cheaper much more simplistic body.
Looks like the Argos Card actually offers 12 months buy now pay later - even better!

Brilliant buy...heat added.
Just a tip to those who have been complaining about battery life...I noticed that the email app and weather widget were set at a constant sync as default from factory. I changed these settings to sync hourly and it has improved my battery life greatly. I used to end my day with less than 20% remaining, but now that has jumped to around 40%.
Obviously, this won't help those of you who want/need to be constantly kept up-to-date...but I'm guessing most people are happy with an hourly update.

And when it does appear, it will cost you £600, this is half the amount. If you are genuinely debating the point and have money to happily burn, you should wait. That said, you clearly do not already have one of this year's flagship phones (else you would not be debating getting an S6) so it follows that you are not in desperate need of the absolute bleeding edge of technology. That being the case, waiting for the S7 is truly just an exercise in wasting your money.

g_mac1986
14 Nov 15#84
The whole SD card argument doesn't carry the same water with me anymore - I emphasise for me, your needs may vary.
I have always had 16gb phones with an SD card and the only thing I ever kept on it was my entire music collection (around 60gb) and a few to shows for emergency viewing when stuck in doctors waiting rooms or very boring lunch hours etc.
But I have noticed that I hardly ever used the music on the card. All my music is uploaded to Google Play Music and I find it's much easier to cache playlists and whatever songs in listening to at the time.
I don't game on my phone (tablet for that) and I tend to not have a plethora of apps installed so I see 32gb as plenty, the Edge that I referred to earlier is 64gb and I've just about dipped below 50gb of free space.
The final point is that, although not ideal for some people, you can pick up an OTG attachment for 99p (compared to Apple's proprietary one for £35!). This is ideal for me for those occasions like flights or whatever when you might want a little extra storage. And in these days of cloud storage it's elementary in my opinion.

Well I picked mine up today and I have to say compared to the Edge it is a joy to use. I wrote earlier about how I hate the feel of the Edge in my hand, the regular S6 is brilliant, somehow just feels more premium. Top buy.
Got my £10 voucher which i was told needed to be used by 15th December - I don't know if this is the general cut off date or if you get 30 days regardless of when you buy it.
Unless I can think of something else I need/want I'll probably buy a case with it. Argos are always overpriced when it comes to cases but the Otterbox Commuter case at £13.xx seems like decent value.

- S6 more powerful (Faster processor, faster memory, more memory)
- Better build
- Better looking
- Better camera (The sensor is better, now has OIS and the new camera is rated No.1 by DxOmark)
- Louder speaker
- Better display (Brighter, more accurate colours, higher resolution)
- Supports fast charging
- Better fingerprint reader
- Latest software and will be supported longer.
- Uses gorilla glass 4 vs. 3 so so the glass should be slightly more impact resistant (although you have the glass on the back to worry about now)
- Thinner and slightly lighter

Isn't this a website based in Hong Kong or something? Samsung only honour warranties in restricted regions eg Europe, Asia etc so buy a French one and you're ok but one from Hong Kong you've got nothing.
You also have the vat/import taxes to pay most likely.
"Frequent ask questions" link at the bottom phrased like that doesn't give me much confidence.

Did have three but might be all gone now - check their forums, the invite section, there's a whole thread where people (like me!) offer up any invites and others share them out to those who want them. Worth a try.
Assuming it's similar to my Samsung Galaxy S4 then it won't hold it's charge as good as it did when new, hence, I've had to replace it. The S6 will also suffer from the wear created by wireless charging.
This article seems to support my concerns suggesting a battery only lasts between 1 to 22 years!
Performance-wise, they're both snappy and smooth as butter. However they both have horrible battery life. I have the S6 edge and its camera and screen beats the iPhone 6S by a mile. They're both still excellent phones though.

The One Plus X is a quality phone and has great build. The one gripe I have with it is the camera which is OK but not on the same level as some of the flagships like the S6, 6S and G4.
08sam1
15 Nov 151#173
ive had the 6s the s6 the g4 the one plus 2, in my personal opinion the best was the s6, as i just prefer being able to control my phone, since android is alot more customisable, i have to say also that the camera was a little bit better, but the 6s was still the faster phone, lg g4 is also a really good phone, but defo not as good as either, it lagged a bit more and the battery life was alot less but again still a good phone, unfortunatly i hated the one plus 2 and i believe the pricing is too expensive, i just got an invite for the one plus x but i doubt im gonna use it.
atm in my opinion it goes
note 5>6s plus>s6>6s>Lg G4>Z5>one plus 2
that was for performance
for value\performance i would say
LG G4>one plus 2>S6>note 5>Z5>6S>6s Plus
again this is just my opinion and ive used all the phones above. please no rudeness lol

Yeah it's decent so far, seems a bit slicker than the Note 4 and has a better build quality, I used to get little delays when opening the phone on the note 4 but that may have been a glitch in the OS or a rouge app - I spent most of yesterday reinstalling apps and setting up accounts on things so it's difficult to judge the battery life just yet, it isn't my main phone, it's a work phone - my main phone is an iPhone 6s and I'd still pick that up first to use but then it was double the price so I think at the price I paid for the s6 it's a great deal

Listing my S6 for sale after a couple of months ownership..
Performance wise it's 'ok' - runs quite smoothly around 3/4 of the time, however some apps do tend to force close quite frequently, causing the whole device to come to a stand still.
Camera, I actually was quite disappointed, moreso in low light pictures they go completely grainy and look like they've been taken with "by a potato" as the internet saying go's. Honestly I don't expect professional shots but something a bit better would have been nicer for an above £300 device.
Leaving the worst til' last, the battery life, lets just say, I left my home with it fully charged at 11:30am yesterday, it had been in my pocket all day, and when I got it out for the first time, it was on 17%, this broke the last straw for me, which is a shame as Samsung have been my favourite devices for quite some time!
Jimmyboy to JordUK
17 Nov 15#218
So after 25 hours you have 17% left? Tell any iphone user that and they will be envious!
If your phone is in your pocket for the whole 25 hours then you should turn off wifi and data as these will be constantly checking emails allowing apps to connect to the internet in the background.
It's not always easy to compare one user's battery experience to another, one big drain is mobile signal. If you spend the day in a place where there is little or no signal the battery drain will be significantly higher.

To give a more positive perspective, I haven't found the battery life/lack of removability that big of an issue. I can go into work at 8am and finish at 4pm (granted it's in flight mode) and it'll often still be above 80% even when I used it before work and during breaks. Just make sure you're optimising all your apps, turn the brightness down and don't have everything syncing all the time.
The camera is absolutely incredibly for a mobile, I really don't get the negative comments about it. Granted the screen is a little bit overkill, but £350 for a QHD phone is a massive bargain! I can also genuinely count on one hand the number of times it's lagged for me. The Exynos is a fantastic processor for an Android phone.
The only real downside for me is the SD Card, that almost turned me towards the G4 but around 80% of the review sites I visited had the S6 as their phone of the year so I bit the bullet back in September. Waterproof would have been nice too but I've never had that feature in the first place so don't really mind.
The future proofing is pretty decent too, when Samsung Pay (finally) becomes active it'll be compatible with far more machines than Apple Pay, which is a great bonus for me.

iPhones standby drain is minimal and unrival.
You could literally leave your phone for two days and only have a 1% drain compared to Android.
Jimmyboy

Yes if you put it in airplane mode or at least took the sim out and turned off WiFi. Most people don't care about that kind of drain. My car uses hardly any fuel (none) whole parked on my driveway.

Hmm. Thanks for sharing.
Got the £10 Argos voucher which is spent already!
Also, when I click the 10.5% link on TCB, it goes straight to the Sim Free Sony Xperia Z3 @ £329.95.

Does anyone know of a AOSP (or close) ROM? I'm not sold on Samsungs version and prefer stock by far.
Good deal.

Currently have a Nexus 5 running on Marshmallow and it is really well sorted out and very flexible to customise.
Very true, not something that crossed my mind but that would be mainly because I don't shoot videos really of any description on my phone but certainly worth considering if you do. I don't game, I don't shoot video, i'm beginning to question why I need a smartphone at all :stuck_out_tongue:
Nah, I'm quite happy with my OPO but I do think 5.5" screen is too big and the OPX is 5", with practically the same gubbins inside.
Hence the interest also in this S6 as well. Dunno whether to keep my OPO, or switch to either the OPX or S6. That's all.
into the trash it goes
Still prefer my G4 though.

What is Argos policy regarding returns for "change of mind"? I mean if I buy it now and keep it in original box without opening it, will I be able to return it if I find a better deal on Black Friday somewhere else?

Got my £10 voucher which i was told needed to be used by 15th December - I don't know if this is the general cut off date or if you get 30 days regardless of when you buy it.
Unless I can think of something else I need/want I'll probably buy a case with it. Argos are always overpriced when it comes to cases but the Otterbox Commuter case at £13.xx seems like decent value.
Plus no SD card is a deal breaker for anyone who wants to store more than 15GB of photos/misc/videos on their phone.

again this is just my opinion and ive used all the phones above. please no rudeness lol
Black and white showing as £349.95, gold as £399.95 (checking at 9am, 17/11).
10.1% TCB ends today.
Do I need to make a claim somehow?

* £348.95 - £1 discount for using Fasttrack
* £313.71 - Price after £35.24 (10.1% of £348.95) cashback.
* £303.71 - Effective price after £10 Argos voucher.
Plus I figure I'm now saving at least ~£34 on top of this by not being able to buy a Micro SD for it :confused:
Heat added.
With EE now but zero signal indoors and patchy service during my train commute so looking elsewhere.
Any good deals for 2gb 4G data anywhere? Don't need many minutes, say 200. I guess the Three £11 deal seems about right?
This effectively means cashback will only be £4.58.. no longer such a hot deal - Amazon standard prices are similar anyway, so I'm going to get a refund on mine in the hope I get a stonking good deal in the Black Friday sale :disappointed:
And anyway, what's the 'validation' process for the 10.5% rate anyway?
Bought this phone from argos as a gift for someone residing Non EU friend. The box says EUROPEAN SIM ONLY. Not sure if this can be used in other countries.

I'm not here to start the boring iphone vs Android debate but I've never known an iphone last more than a day but have experienced several Android handsets last 48 hours with the same usage.
IOS battery management is much better than Androids.
Im not starting a debate I dont care for iPhones, however you should take a look at Anandtech for a more detailed explanation
