Bought an S6 at £330 last week (from marketplace seller: Colins shop, via Amazon) only to receive a display phone!
To be fair the one review of the seller indicated this might happen... but returning via AMazon is at least painless.
However, this seller looks fine. And the price is comparable.
Someone tell me why this shouldn't happen? (No need to reply if these reasons are entirely S6 related (e.g battery), but feel free to state opinions of better choices for the money!)

Good price but the phone is too much iphoney. Removing extendable memory is what put me off.

Hard to favour this phone when the G4 is £300

Agree it's definitely in the running around this price point. But no qi charging or fingerprint scanner feel like heavy prices to pay for a 5.5 inch screen (I'm happy with 5.1). I'm also not a fan of the G4 design (though the S6 is not good either; only better in my book.)
I'm coming from a Windows device and have got charging pads all over the house. They've completely changed how I charge my phone and the ease of their use means I virtually never leave the house without a fully charged phone. QI charging has become a must for me.

Same here but the only way they are going to temp me is by offering me a 128gb internal memory.

what u need to check that it is the eu model. which would have warranty in eu Inc UK. UK spec means nothing other than the charger plug.

Don't forget to buy a battery case!

I'm thinking that with a decent ROM the battery life is probably fine on the S6, no?

Qi charging was a strange omission, especially as they have official cases that enable it. It's easy enough to add it with a Qi case or sticker though. Fingerprint scanning is something I care little for personally but each to their own

I bought 2 S6s from Argos recently(price glitch in the ROI stores for €389) but the EU Spec thing says on the box something along the lines of.
"If you buy this outside of the EU the only way to activate the phone is by using an EU Sim Card and make a minimum of a 5 minute phone call" so chances are if it was a phone from outside the EU you'd have to do it the other way around.
Just remember the description for this item "Display phone"

Display phones are not convertible to the real thing no matter what God you worship. they have been disabled from making calls etc.
They are very good for impressing your neighbours or for making loud pretend calls on a train to Jeremy Corbyn or Alf Garnett.

Cost me £5.99 to get Qi charging into my G4, sticker was easy to apply and works a treat with my Nokia Qi chargers. And no a decent rom does not really help with S6 battery life unless you're talking about rooting your phone and putting a 3rd party rom on it. Even then it's still pretty dire and Knox makes unlocking BL & rooting trickier than it could be, i.e. tripping the Knox counter.

battery not great but best android phone out there imo pricey too.

I agree Qi charging is great but I'd be a bit worried about using it with a phone that has a non removeable battery. They definitely result in faster degradation of capacity and on a very expensive phone which already has sub par battery life I can't say I'd be too keen...

I guess it all depends how long you intend keeping the phone as if you intend keeping it for just the usual 2 years it then should be OK, I assume any defects would be covered by the warranty. Although any longer than that then I would also have concerns over battery life as mine gets hot when charging via Qi.
I can't understand who will buy these phones second hand in a couple of years time when the batteries are likely to be shot and also too expensive to warrant replacing.

Thanks for this. I was talking about rooting and 3rd party ROM. Didn't realise it didn't improve matters.
Will look into fitting coils - seems that metal backs are a problem for now but that's no biggie.

I've ordered one (from a different supplier - there about 5 or 6 selling at around £340) - my biggest concern is that it won't come with a UK 3 pin plug with adaptive fast charge, which the "genuine UK version" should.

I'll tell you a story.....I bought my wife a Galaxy S6 on a similar sort of deal in July.......~400 quid but at that time, it was a terrific price on Amazon. UK stock, new etc.
Phone was legit.....sealed....and perfect. Wife has been merrily using it to date.
Phone stopped sending/receiving calls/texts last week so I sent it for repair to Samsung who confirmed that all was legit with the serial etc. 2 years warranty.
However, received an update today that the phone has been blacklisted on all UK networks and is not repairable and has no warranty.
Fortunately, the seller has been very accommodating and has agreed a complete refund, all running through Amazon so I fully expect it to go through. But just be wary as this has been a pain in the harry-hole.
I don't know what the steer is with checking the IMEI beforehand, if sellers even do that......but now I have been bitten, I will happily pay the 400 for this out of Argos or other sellers. IMO, it is worth that all day anyway.
Just so you know, with some of these retailers, there can be risk and it might not even be their fault......just somewhere in the chain.

To confirm, I hit up https://www.checkmend.com/uk/public/check_start and paid £1.99 for an IMEI check which confirmed this. :disappointed:
