I don't understand why the Galaxy range is still popular. The Sony Xperia, LG and HTC M series have all overtaken it IMO. The Xperia Z5 in particular is glorious. There's also a 4k version of it releasing soon which will further widen the gap.
Samsung seem to become more and more like Apple with every new release. SD card support, water proof screen, long battery life - these are all standard features in other phones. I personally think their dominance of the Android market is coming to an end.

well they have the best screens and the best cameras out of pretty much an Android phone available. I have a Nexus 6P, but if it weren't for the poor battery life, I would have gone for the Galaxy S6.

How can anyone claim Samsung haven't been innovative? AMOLED (worth having more than anything when viewing the screen quality!), wireless charging, edge screens, f/1.9 cameras..do you need them to cook your breakfasts or something? There's only so much a phone can do you know.
They used to have removable batteries and microSD card support, but people complained that their designs ' didn't feel like a flagship phone', so they went with a unibody glass/alu design, now people still complain. They're still the best looking smartphones around, with unrivalled displays.
Apple's dominance is down to their unwavering elitist-for-no-reason Apple fanboys... they've been running 8MP cameras (only recently improved to 12MP), and sub-1080p LED screens without wireless charging, but With iTunes slavery included...yet people still buy them in droves!

I agree with you about Samsung, they are the reason imo why the Android market is strong when it comes to the premium devices. A lot of things people were saying are gimmicky features by Samsung a few years ago, are now becoming the norm with others. I own the iPhone 6S now, and can see why people go towards the iPhone. Day to day use is superior compared to any android devices I have used. The iPhone is smoother, faster, simpler and app quality for the most part is better (even google's own apps), if you have iPad and Mac, it works so well together between devices. On top of that, if you want to resell it, the value these Android devices drop in a few months is ridicolous. However, I have played with the Note 5 for a week, Samsung have made a remarkable device there - I would go all out and call it the best phone ever made. I will be moving back to the Note series. If people don't think Samsung have made a good device since the S2 then they havent used a Samsung device since the S2 lol.
Does anyone think its worth waiting for black Friday for the Edge to get any cheaper? Dunno if its worth the risk missing out on this deal, as its the cheapest I've found.

I went from the Z2 to the S6. The battery life is the only thing I miss (Z2 really was incredible for that).
The camera (in my opinion) is much better on the S6. The Z2 promised so much with the camera, but just didn't deliver. Sony seem to be unable to nail the image processing algorithms. And also, the "shutter" lag (how long it takes from pressing the shutter button to it actually taking the pic) was really slow. The amount of shots of my kids that I missed because of that lag... S6 is virtually instantaneous.

might be able to get up to 10% back in fuel if you can use Curry's vouchers in one of their in-store concessions - i recall a CPW guy saying you can use Curry's vouchers. Linky

S6 Edge was unusable for me on 02 no 4g..ever and 3g was poor. I still like the phone, has anyone had better experiences with the S6 Edge on other Networks, particularly in London?

Battery life is, arguably, the most important feature on a phone. Doesn’t matter how amazing the handset is if it’s dead before the end of the day

I can't comment on the LG as I haven't used it all that much. I do however own an Xperia Z2 and have done for just over a year now. I have zero complaints against it. The camera is the best I have ever seen on a phone. Never had an issue with low-light photos as you claim and the phone is lightening fast. It only gets hot in use when shooting 4k videos and the manual for the phone actually mentions this.
It wasn't designed to shoot 4k for long periods but the phone was released in early 2014 so it's understandable that it has limitations.
I haven't had any issues with updates either. The original Android M rollout was delayed a little, but every subsequent update since has been quick and fast to install. Superb phone and if Sony continue to improve like they are I can see myself upgrading to the Z6/7 in another 12-24 months. The battery life alone - mines lasts upto three days with Stamina Mode turned on - is reason enough to stick with the brand.

I agree. If Samsung had taken a risk a few years ago and been a bit more innovative, they could well have blown Apple out of the water, or at the very least considerably reduced the dominance of the iPhone. But instead, they played it safe and produced boring phones with gimicky, rather than useful features, that they knew they could make a huge margin on.
IMO, Samsung haven’t made a really good phone since the S2...

because bar the battery life and the backward step of not including a microsd card slot its (unless IOS is a must) the best out there - the Sony has a poor camera in low light/takes an eternitry for Android updates/and gets very hot in use, .the LG feels in use like a kitcar(with a Android skin a baby has designed) ... but if you dont need a good low light camera why drop so much money on a "flagship" midrange phones will be just as good
