Galaxy Note 4, 32gb (SM-910F) in white on amazon.it (Black also available)

Good value deal for a new Note 4 shipped direct from amazon.

Was looking at a sony Z5 to replace my note 3, but this seemed like a better value option for a decent phone.

Shows as 463 EUR, but when you checkout, it changes to 455.41, plus just over 5 EUR shipping, which comes in at 461 EUR. Converted, this is £327

Thanks OP - just to update this, it's now gone down in price to 450.81 Euros (£319) delivered to the UK.

I've had Note 4 since launch. Great phone. I have two batteries. Couldn't live without the spare. That is why I feel Samsung has made a mistake with the Note 5 and no SD card slot is a shame. I am now looking at leaving Samsung for my next phone as I feel they're going down the line of copying apple. Can't remove back, can't expand memory... What next, all we can do is change the wallpaper...

Agree.. however on the plus side, you still get a removable battery and SD card on the 4. I know some aren't fussed by this, but I replaced my Note 3 battery after a year for a small amount and it improved the battery life which had deteriorated over time. Personal preference!

There is no import duty inside the EU. The warranty will be with Samsung and as this is the SM-910F, the exact same model as sold in the UK, I suspect there will be no issue.

Sorry new to the shopping on foreign Amazon sites, firstly how do you go about translating the page and are you charged a fee by you credit card company for shopping on foreign sites?
kirk82 to 888eyeball
4 Nov 15 1 #7
if you use Google Chrome, ir will translate the page automatically.. but the options are pretty much the same as the UK WEBSITE so if you are used to amazon, it's a doddle. You login using the same details that you use on amazon.co.uk. When you checkout, you can choose to pay in EUR or let amazon convert into GBP for you, thus avoiding any credit card conversion fees, but the rate isn't as good as a bank rate. I chose Euros as I don't get charged a fee on my card.

Tempting to get another Note 4 - for the wife - at this price. There's no way on God's earth that it will ever be a Note 6 unless they re-introduce the replaceable battery and the card slot, which they won't.

I do wonder, though, what are the implications of buying, even direct from Amazon, in the event of a problem. Returns to Italy will be expensive.

Last week, the note 4 was down to £360 again on the Amazon Italy site. My phone had a mark on it so I logged in and simply went to my orders > returns and put in the relevant details.

Amazon Italy do NOT provide a pre-paid shipping form like amazon UK but they stated that they will refund the full shipping costs back to me.

It costs around £30 to courier the phone over with insurance. Royal mail charge £15 but they actually advised me not to send with them as they lose a lot of packages during run up to Xmas and they only cover up to £50 for damage/loss.

Anyone know if there are any downsides to buying from Amazon.it as opposed from UK? I read that you need to pay around £20 to return to Italy if needed (not sure if that applies to a faulty phone). Anything else? If the phone develops a fault can you just contact Samsung UK and they'll deal with getting it fixed with no extra charge? Any apps or OS functionality issues?

My Note 4 developed a fault with the speaker just 2 months after purchase, the retailer won't replace after 28 days in most cases, so after contacting Samsung UK, they send a pre paid package for you to put your phone in, it comes back either repaired or replaced, mine was the latter ☺

Try hovering over the £432.99 price and see if the original untranslated text says EUR 432.99. It might be Chrome translating "EUR" (or Euro sign) to "£" but the actual price is still actually EUR 432.99?

there shouldn't be any problems with warranty cos you get 2 years international cover from Samsung if purchased anywhere in EU block country and it can be taken to or sent to any Samsung authorised repairer in UK or EU. The 2year warranty is for most electrical item purchased in EU including UK but UK you can claim upto 6 years if you can prove it is an inherent fault.
Re returning item, I had to return an item to Amazon France and I just printed off the label and it was returned to Amazon UK who took care of the exchange, in fact even though the item was sold on amazon fr, it was shipped by Amazon UK.

Can I just make a suggestion to those who buy one, if you value amazing battery life what ever you do don't update away from Kitkat/4.4.4. I have had my Note 4 from release day and got as much as 4 days battery life on Kitkat. I made the mistake of updating to 5.0 which killed the battery life down to a day (even with cache cleared) and the 5.1 update has only marginally improved it back to a maximum of 2 days. Unless you absolutely need Lollipop don't 'upgrade' to it.

This phone left on 4.4.4 is the best there is.

I'm still on a note 2, coming to the end of my contract. (Yes I know it was an 'old' phone when I got it but it was through someone posting on here, I couldn't have justified paying anything more for it or getting anything newer).

So what do I do now, go for the note 3 which would be a step up or go for something like this. I wouldn't mind a used phone if it was in pristine condition, could buy a phone and go for sim only deal maybe? I'm a light user, but do like a nice camera on my phone.

Its a great phone for sure
but for some people its missing too much

No SD Support
No IR Blaster
No Battery Access (this is huge if you dont upgrade every gen)
My S4 Battery Died the other week (2 dead cells in the package) but was a zero issue
as i just ordered a new one direct from amazon for £6

Also the note has always been a stepup cpu wise from the S flagship
e.g.
1.2ghz S2 1.4ghz Note
1.4ghz S3 1.6ghz N2
1.9ghz S4 2.3ghz N3
2.5ghz S5 2.7ghz N4

S6 1.5ghz A53 Cluster 2.1ghz A57 Cluster
N5 1.5ghz A53 Cluster 2.1ghz A57 Cluster

I only upgrade every two or three gen's
Usually that would mean i would get the Note5 this gen
but there's far too much missing for me
so i have gone on the best previous model to hold me over

Note 4 SM-N910C 1.3ghz A53 Cluster 1.9ghz A57 Cluster (the 20nm trial run for the 14nm S6/Note5 SOC)

One word of advice: CHECK THE MODEL

When I bought my 64GB Note 5 (Korean version) I made sure it worked on Vodafone's 4G as the Taiwanese version didn't
Newbold
5 Nov 15 #84
It's a great price - so much so that I actually bought one. Then, looking into it further, I chickened out and cancelled. A couple of reasons:

1 Different phone (SM-N910FZWEITV) from the UK model (SM-N910FZWEBTU)
2 Not covered by the UK Sale of Goods legislation - enormously useful in the event of a problem
3 Difficulties in returning phone to Italy in the event of a problem

Don't get me wrong - this is a great deal and a great price. And if you're going to buy abroad (subject to the fact that this is a different model) Amazon is certainly the place to buy. It's a saving of £73 on the current Amazon price, but I think I'll take a chance on a Black Friday deal bringing it down to around the £350 mark - maybe less.

Logically, if Amazon can sell these for £327 in Italy there's no reason why they can't do that in the UK.

This is a very good price for the Note 4. I sold my year old Note 4 about a month ago for £320.

And when the battery fails, as Samsung batteries do, and you can't just replace it yourself for a few pounds?

5 Nov 15 #87
The difference in the phone model relates to the firmware, and the date in which updates are released. The phone itself is no different to use and has exactly the same features as it is an EU model (SM-910F)
If you look at the below link, you can see that the ITV (italian) Note 4 got the 5.1.1 firmware update on exactly the same date as the BTU (UK) version, on the 01/11/15.

http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910F/

My Note 3 was bought in france, and the last upadte I had was a couple of weeks before the UK
wildecat
5 Nov 15 #88
FWIW the warranty will be the standard 2 year EU that you'd get from CPW or anywhere else.
Doubt the SOG Act will be much practical help after 2 years.

The differential in price is due to the pricing & value of the Euro.
Unless we join, then i doubt that would change.

If you choose to pay by pounds sterling, Amazon will use their currency converter and the price you see is the final price that will appear on your bank statement. If you chose to pay by euro then your bank will use their exchange rates to convert the cost into pounds sterling. Whether it's better to pay by euro or sterling depends on your bank and the card you're paying with.

Bigsmoke825
6 Nov 15 #105
I've owned both and I'm a phablet fan, do like bigger phones and for me the note 4 wins hands down but only cause I like all the extras, the Nexus is also a great device very fast and buttery smooth bit like ios on a iphone! but it just felt too big in hand not tall just very wide! and didn't have any extra features, so to me and its only my opinion it was just a big phone with just a average camera.

Coming from the LG3 surely the LG4 ticks most of the boxes for you?
louthepoo
6 Nov 15 #106

Bigsmoke825
7 Nov 15 #107
Outside of being able to change the battery and sd storage, I like the ultra power saving mode which has saved me a few times, multi screen (opening two apps at once on screen) I've found handy and being being able to shrink the screen for one handed use.

None are deal breakers but I'd rather have them than not, also like being able to view videos in like a pop up mode where you can do something else while the video plays in a small box.

Plus I do use the s-pen the odd time, and quick charge is brilliant! recently had to use a iphone 6 with work and this was one thing I really missed.

Basically, to use a proper adblock, to have the capability to remove unwanted apps, and set custom permissions for those that I've paid for but request unreasonable permissions e.g. a flashlight app wants to read contacts and messages.

Also, maybe, down the line... remove the built in google apps dependancy... not sure on that just yet though..

Firefox with ublock takes care of ads, comes with builtin torch and most of the bloat can be disabled or hidden. Not felt the need to root my own, yet!
Newbold
7 Nov 15 #114
Nor me. Haven't found the slightest need with Note 4.
Newbold
7 Nov 15 #115
How long are these taking to arrive from the order date, then? I re-ordered two days ago and it's not entered the despatch process yet.
kirk82 to Newbold

I ordered mine Wednesday morning, arrived Friday afternoon via amazon logistics
TheGlennster to Newbold
8 Nov 15 #120
I ordered mine Wednesday Night and it landed on my doorstep Friday morning. I used Amazon It for peace of mind not the third party seller so paid a touch more £'s.
I'm very happy no issues using it over here, it ran updates out of the box and included a rapid charger (EU 2 pin)
Newbold
8 Nov 15 #117
They've obviously slowed down somewhat since then - made the order on 5 November and three days later it still hasn't entered the despatch process! Having Prime in the UK obviously makes no difference to overseas orders.
kirk82
8 Nov 15 #118
I don't have prime and I only chose the cheapo economy delivery. the return address on the box was in Scotland and amazon logistics delivered so I have my suspicions that stock may have been held here in the UK
no1_salad_dodger
8 Nov 15 #119
I'd rather wait to see if it comes to the UK or Europe first, i want my Samsung 2 yr warranty
Newbold
8 Nov 15 #121
I seem to have been unlucky then. I also used bought direct from Amazon, and although they're showing as in stock the predicted delivery date is 16 November - and that for an order placed on 5 November!

Something tells me their systems picked up on the early orders and added an automated delay to discourage more sales and direct them back to more profitable UK sales.
kirk82
8 Nov 15 #122
Also very happy. I was hoping for 4.4.4 out of the box, but it was straight on 5.1.1. I must say it is lightning fast though, better than expected
pita^norf
8 Nov 15 #123
Ordered mine on Weds evening and was delivered on Friday - it looks like mine came from their Spain distribution depot. Was going wait for case and screen protector to arrive but couldn't resist and had a play with it - brilliant device and well happy.

Came across these guys from this deal: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nexus-6-32gb-blue-255-99-eglobal-2317941
and found the Note 4 there quite cheap: http://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-note-4-n910g-4g-lte-32gb-sim-free-unlocked-gold-en.html £334 after voucher. They even do the Exynos CPU version for same price: http://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-note-4-n910c-4g-lte-32gb-sim-free-unlocked-black.html but I've no idea if that phone would work in the UK.

I used to think that Samsung phablets came with a 2 year warranty, but I think that is now 1 year, so am not against looking at these types of import retailers now, as long as they have a good reputation of course.

Thoughts?

9 Nov 15 #125
samsung phones do come with 2 year warranty (*EU sourced phones).
Plus I'd rather deal with Amazon,as they are first class with any returns
my-planet

9 Nov 15 #127
I suppose it all depends on how highly you'd rate a warranty issued by:

eGlobal Central
Unit F, 24/F Golden Sun Centre
59-67 Bonham Strand West, Sheung Wan
Hong Kong

And what you think the chances of enforcing it might be. I think I know the answer........
JayPed
9 Nov 15 #128
highly unlikely, even if it does it will be next year..and that's when the next model is expected.
I bought the imported version and am enjoying it.the seller gave me 12 months warranty, fingers crossed I will not need it.I will sell it next year anyway to buy the latest and save my investment anyway.
Newbold
9 Nov 15 #129
Just a heads up to anyone still waiting for delivery - the price has dropped to 450 euros including UK delivery. Cancelled my existing order and re-ordered. No doubt a further delay, but worth it for a 14 Euro reduction in price.
kirk82
9 Nov 15 #130
Price Has now dropped to its lowest ever, EUR 452.49, or £322!

If you havent ordered, get in before the price goes back up!

Is this phone honestly worth the upgrade from a Note 3?
dinosteveus to GoonerGetYa

Hopefully, cos I'm very tempted.
kirk82 to GoonerGetYa
10 Nov 15 #134
Id say so.. but it depends what you do with your phone. I was looking to upgrade. . and it was a sensible yet cheap option for me. Physically there isn't a lot of difference, but is it quicker and will undoubtedly get Marshmallow, while the N3 has not even got 5.1.1. If you have the cash, do it.

10 Nov 15 #135
I have been after a Note 4 SM-N910C 8 Core Exynos Variant
Picked one up on the bay the other day £251.85

Turned up brand new
Was Made Feb 2015 in Korea
Warranty until June 2017
Its a Grey import
Had a MTZ CSC (MTN Zambia)
Funniest part is the label where the battery goes Samsung UK..
it came with a EU fast charger in the box
Guy also put in a UK 5v 2amp Genuine Samsung

They have to make 5 mins of calls with a local simcard to remove the
sim region lock so boxes are open

There was 2 listings
£314.99 and £251.85
Im very fussy and the 251.85 one was clean as a whistle
Came on 4.4.4

I made my own debloated 5.1.1 BTU (UK Unbranded) odin image
Its on xda-developers if anyone gets a 910C

Well pleased with it

I think halifax charge 2.75% on non sterling purchases making it nearly 10 pound extra. Would it be cheaper to pay in sterling or having the 2.75% charge paying in euros?

lucky I didn't root this as soon as it arrived. There is a problem with the mic, and the back capactive button (needs two taps before responding). Just arranged a return...

With regards to rooting, it updated to 5.1.1 and rooting on that is a bit of a pain. I don't want custom roms, just the adaway, privacy/firewall blocks, and the ability to remove unwanted apps... again lucky for me it updated and slowed me down!

Finally I wouldn't recomment the otterbox commuter case, it doesn't fit neatly, and this is the first otterbox I've had. Casemate and spidgen have been perfect flush fits, but this had raised egdges where the soft hard case didn't sit correctly on the soft inner,

Stick with the s5 a little longer now, and to be honest don't know what else can replace that with all the new stuff not looking so good...

Just received my order - it contains a Braun Thermoscan 5 Ear Thermometer !

Packaging looks legit not tamperded with and a Amazon UK returns address - no evidence of it coming from Italy or other European country.

I now face the prospect of chasing Amazon for a refund.

My advice - do not order anything from Amazon Italy.
Newbold to grumpyone
17 Nov 15 #148
Thanks - that's incredible! Amazon mistakes are very rare indeed, and I'm sure they'll sort it out for you. Just a thought - does clicking on the tracking button give you any idea of the journey it's taken (ie where it came from)?
Digit10101 to grumpyone

You'll have to email them they wont talk to you in English. Somebody swiped mine delivery guy had left it with neighbour. (phone had been removed, box put back with accessories). Return address was for UK, however actual Phone Box had Italian Badge.

Taken them a week to do their enquiries and now they are going to refund me. Agree with don't order from Italy.

So we know it was at least it was in France at some point (and Belgium), so it did presumably come from Italy. I found Amazon Italy easy to deal with (in English) but Amazon UK might be prepared to help sort it out. Hope you get your phone soon.

It wasn't the incorrect translation of 'bianco' (white) to black that Google was throwing up, was it? I noticed when I was ordering that although the Italian Amazon website was showing 'white' the translations were coming up as black - stating incorrectly that it was a black phone that had been ordered.

If it wasn't that, Amazon will probably offer you a % reduction.
lncnant
3 Dec 15 #157
Sorry for late reply, I wanted Bianco, but this was only being sold by an online trader with Amazon, so I opted for black being sold by and shipped by Amazon.
I got email to say shipment was delayed by one week, then it arrived and it was white, I'm happy with white, until I saw a black one and
black looks cool, I'll stick with what I've got.
