Got this delivered yesterday. Great drive, software managed to clone my laptop just like nothing had changed. It does require a USB to sata cable though.

Hi All ! Please humour a hardware novice, and advise if this could be used to replace HDD in my Acer Ferrari One 200 netbook ? It is just sitting in the cupboard, doing nothing anyway ! Thank you...

I have only used it via links from Amazon

Agreed. As they didn't give any details to the amount of returns these people made before Amazon reacted it was essentially a useless piece.

Yeah, that's really bad of them. I'd guess the first time someone files a claim against Amazon for it, they'll give in. I can't possibly see how that could stand up in court.

Couldn't agree more, there are many people who will systematically return items just because either they changed their mind or the warranty is nearly done. The same with people and refurbished items too, they buy a refurbished product hoping for it to be mint and if its not return it!
Also people moan about tax, they don't realize the setup of Europe. Being in Europe, people still think of us as completely separate to the EU but we are not. You can operate your company from any country within the EU and deliver to the UK and just pay the tax in the country you operate from. This is the same all over Europe and there are thousands of companies that do this. There is no reason amazon couldn't operate completely out of the UK. The only way we can force these companies to pay tax here is to leave the EU. We can't even stop tax on tampons if we wanted to!

I couldn't agree more... but there is the small issue of them not refunding gift card balances and Prime memberships.
I for one won't be using either of those in future.

I really don't see what Amazon are supposed to have done wrong. If people are buying and returning a huge number of items, Amazon are well within their right to refuse to sell to that person again. The Watchdog video makes it very clear it's about refunds - not replacements. Why are these people buying so many items, and then asking for refunds (and not replacements?). It doesn't seem to add up.
There are plenty of things we could complain about when it comes to Amazon (like tax), but returns is really pushing the boat out. If there is an issue with returns to Amazon, Watchdog have made a really poor case for it.

This is without doubt the best upgrade you can make to a computer.
I bought exactly the same & I could not believe the improvement in speed.
The migration software for W7 PC is also top class.
I bought from amazon and got an enclosure to fit an ageing PC. This offer if free P&P and 'no quibble return' is a great price.
I would only use a spinning drive for 'offsite' backups never ever will I buy a Mac or PC without SSD drive.
UPDATE
This is £60 on amazon, why is it so HOT? amazon returns are second to non.
why is it so hot? because of 2% quidco?
it is just 1p more on Amazon

I am looking for one of these for a new build. This is an excellent price but it keeps dropping so I might risk it and wait..... Heat added though as I've not seen it cheaper.

£12 surcharge for delivery to Northern Ireland. Well, that put me off quickly. :disappointed:
Do Amazon penalise you to the same extent? 4p more for the exact same manufactures number.
edit: now only 1p more!!!

The DC in the model number stands for Date Centre, because that drive is designed for use in data centres. You wouldn't really see any benefits in home use to justify the additional cost.
If you are looking for a more premium drive you'd better off looking at the 850 Pro, although depending on what you're using it for, most people would find it hard to tell between the Evo and the Pro in most real world use

Well if your writing you would be better of buying a different product? e.g. A similar disk to this but made for write consistency. No reason to go out and buy this drive if you main focus is writing to a disk or a general homeuser.
nublets2k
6 Nov 15#6
That's not entirely true, its write IOPs arent as good, but it has a much better write endurance.

That's more of a server class drive designed to be READ from and not WRITTEN to.
Ideal for a webserver/streaming content (ignoring the capacity limitations!).
