It's a down jacket so just like Gizmo you're not supposed to get it wet.

If you're a big bloke (XL or XXL) then I recommend the Microlight Alpine... the one with a hood. It saves you having to wear a beanie and feels really nice against your melon.
Berghaus, TNF etc have all since copied the design of this jacket off from Rab.
Great deal OP!!!

Rab is a good quality uk brand, Canada goose charge extortionate amounts for jackets, but may be a little overkill warm in uk weather,

I bought one last year, like it so much, now I have three.
I have two Rab Microlight Alpine and one Microlight (the exact one in the picture).
And because I like them so much, I gave away all my other jackets to Charity this year.
They are great, lightweight and warm.
I walk fast, In the winter of UK, I only wear a shirt and the jacket. I do not need to wear another layer.
There are two down sides:
1. They are not very water resistent.
2. They suffers from down loss just as most of down jackets.
Rab offer lifetime warranty.
I found Ultimate Outdoors customer services bad. They do not solve my problem and just fob me off.
If any problem, I will contact Rab directly.

I paid £101 for microlight
Paid £109 for microlight Alpine.
At £80, it is great price for the jacket.
The not so good point is it is from Ultimate Outdoors.
But you can always contact RAB if things go wrong.

And I can confirm all voucher codes from Ultimate Outdoors expired yesterday.
Other than those on full price items.
There is no need to search.

cold voters probably not aware of the brand.
Rab is a good brand for mountain clambing or ski wears.
So as mountain equipment, Northface etc.
Personally I prefer Rab than the other two.
Rab's sizes are more generous thant Northface.

Two points about this
1 Not available in my size (M).
2. Not fully waterproof
Credit where credit is due though, heat OP for finding a great deal though I am sure others will benefit from.

Does anyone know of a down-free synthetic alternative?
I bought a North Face Nuptse 2 Gilet and I love it. Except, I have since learned more about the feather harvesting process and I have to say that it's not for me. However the properties of down are incredible - the warmth and easy compatibility. And it's light too. Surely there's an alternative that doesn't involve feathers from geese?

Same here. I won't order from them again given what they did to me and how bad their customers services.
The price is good. But Ultimate Outdoors, you just need to wish good luck to deal with them.
