Just checked other online stores
@Tesco 500g = £2.79
@Morrisons 500g £2.40
@Asda BIG pack one ain't available. Small one (300g) is on sale at £6 for 4. It's nothing compared to the Sainsbury's one.

The last time I was in ASDA (on Thursday evening) they had the 350g chilled (not frozen) "Chicken" Pieces & Mince both at 2 for £4.00.
I see from MySupermarket.co.uk that Tesco have the 350g Mince item at £1.50 each until 24 November 2015:

Whoa! That's fab. How did I miss it? I was in a rush and bought meat free mince this afternoon. Without checking I took the small one to the till thinking it was the one on offer. Didn't realise Chicken pieces are also on offer.

Great price. I saw a documentary on BBC recently and Quorn said that now more meat eaters buy their products than veggies.

Did you fill up your freezer with Quorn's Southern bites? They've improved recipe and tastier than before. Had some last night and realised time to fill up with THIS one.

Serious question no criticism (I love quorn) but how do they get away with calling them "chicken pieces"? Check the packet it doesn't say "chicken style " or anything like that.

EXACTLY what I was posting about in the Morrisons Quorn thread! It really is ridiculous; you can even buy FISHLESS FISH CAKES! Plus I've never totally understood the apparent need for Veggie stuff to be made to look like real meat?? But now it's being taken further by actually calling it meat! Bizarre.

I'm a veggie and the reason they make meat style ingredients is because you would want a slab of mycroprotein for your spag bolvor your curry.

To be fair though a lot of people don't think it through. I took some burgers to a bbq once and everyone jumped on me asking if I didn't like meat then why did I want to imitate and pretend.
My timid reply that meat people didn't own the copyright and burgers were just convenient shapes whooshed over them unfortunately. Probably thought if you cut cows open they are full of round flat things lol.
As far as quorn marketing is concerned though yes they want it to seem as much like animal as possible to boost sales.

I've not had the newer ones. I tell you what I did have though, the quorn 'chefs selection' oriental stir fry. Makes 2 meals for approx £2.50 total. Really nice.

Any beans like kidney, black eyed, fava, flageolet etc. chickpeas too. Haricot beans too which is what baked beans usually are. Pinto beans too and rosa beans too. Cannot remember second part of rosa beans name. !
