In 2004, the original Star Wars Battlefront came onto the scene and took gamers - and Star Wars fans - by surprise. It was an ambitious action shooter that gave players the opportunity to step into the shoes of their favorite Star Wars characters, pilot quintessential Star Wars vehicles, and relive classic Star Wars battles.
Fast forward nearly 10 years and gamers still have many of those same Star Wars gaming fantasies - but now they wish to experience those larger-than-life battles in magnificent high definition, with all of the amazing special effects, vehicle physics and gameplay intensity that the next-generation has to offer.
Star Wars Battlefront, developed by DICE on Frostbite 3, will surprise and delight fans yet again with a new experience inside this beloved universe made with our signature DICE craftsmanship and commitment to excellence.

I'm a massive star wars fan, and I was really looking forward to this game. Sadly it feels like Hardline with a star wars skin placed over it. A steaming turd with no content. Oh but wait, you can pay for the game a second time to receive more maps which should really have been with the original release! I hate the evil alliance (EA)

good graphics. good levels that are present. good music. however it stops there. not enough content to keep me glued to it. went back to black ops 3 and I am a big star wars fan. I'd like to see the sequel released next Christmas and add about 1000% more content. Or hand it to a developer that will do a much better job. heat for the price, but personally it's a 20 pound game max. think of it as an ultimate demo.

Price drop pending due to expectations of the game.
Get in with a price drop early.
Sell 5,000 units with a £3 margin. £15,000 profit.
Or
Price drop occurs at other retailer.
Have 5,000 units sat there which won't sell because you're not competitive.
Drop price late. 0 margin or worse.
Keep price as is and maybe sell a couple but had more stock and more depreciation.
Knowing your market, making your margins at the right time, working it well.

I was a COD fan, but sold my Black Ops 3 and brought this - best decision I made. They have packs coming out the same as COD, so not sure was extra will be on here. Black Ops 3 lag is worse than any other COD I've seen and to be honest, it's boring, lacking any new content and the mission was car too short and easy.

It's not the developers fault, it's EA, they're deliberately holding back most of the content and then want to charge you another £40 on top for a season pass so you can access the whole game.

Lemming
25 Nov 151#50
Very shallow game, love it for the first few days but the more you play the more you realise that there isn't much there. Every mode plays virtually the same and becomes very repetitive over time. I've sunk hours and hours into games like counterstrike and Team Fortress 2 over the years as well as COD, BF2/3/4 etc and I don't get bored easily with playing the same maps etc. Heroes are ridiculously overpowered and dominate the game every time they turn up, guns are all similar and unsatifying, crazy that upgrades are both level gated AND cost ingame currency to unlock.
I love star wars and I love battlefield, but this was a huge disappointment. This will definitely dive in price rapidly.
Meh1_2_3 to Lemming
25 Nov 15#51
You love star wars but you think that when a hero, such as Vadar or skywalker joins the map that the random power up shouldnt make you stronger than say a standard rebel alliance? Its called team work to take them down, and it actually really isnt hard!
Lemming
25 Nov 15#52
Vader and luke make a certain sense given their Jedi powers but having watched 8 tie fighters literally pummel the falcon for several minutes with barely a scratch on it I'm inclined to think it's over the top, 2 even crashed into it! It was only destroyed when someone spawned as slave I and rammed it head on killing them both.
I've emptied endless full blaster loads at boba fett and applied barely a dent in their health. The guy is wearing basic durasteel armour and should be pretty much as vulnerable as a standard stormtrooper when he's standing still. Sure give them better weapons and special abilities than normal troops but make them a bit more fragile. Han Solo only wears a **** coat!
In the films these characters have plot armour, for me they aren't suited to a game as they wreck the balance. I get why they are there as it's loads of fun to play as them (for the one guy out of 40 who is...) but I really think the game would be better without them in the normal modes, just keep the hero vs a team or other specific modes.
jayjayuk1234
25 Nov 15#53

I didn't have particularly high hopes, then I played the Beta and I really enjoyed it. I don't have much much time for gaming. With this you just jump straight in and start playing. It's fast paced and fun - and of course I love Star Wars. Big games like Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 actually put me off. I just don't have the time to make any progress in them, and every time I play them I have to figure out what I was doing the last time. I don't think this game falls short of its ambition. It is what it is, what it was designed to be. A simple straight-forward shooter for casual gamers.
paulj48 to Curlynob
25 Nov 15#63
couldn't agree more, and to add to that because the gameplay is simplified compared to Battlefield for example then I can play a match and come halfway in the table without putting the hours in, I'm not a casual gamer by any means but with family life I get limited time and this game is ideal.
super_leeds_86
25 Nov 152#59
There's a section of the FPS crowd that don't think a game being "fun" is enough, they demand the game have 63 guns with 12,000 combinations or require hundreds of hours to grind up rank.
The game is fast paced, fun, approachable and quick to jump in to. It has the characters, the weapons and the artistic style of Star Wars. Not really sure what more people want or expected from the game, especially considering the developer, publisher and target mainstream audience. Star Wars is largely fan art and 'filling'/lore from the Universe, this game is a mainstream experience, as such obscure factions etc were never going to be included or when they are will be DLC.

£20 max for this - I'd only be willing to pay about £15 considering the greedy, extortionate price of the season pass that EA is charging and for purposefully locking the content out on disc - going to go down the same route as Evolve - got it for £13.50 which came with the additional hunter and Goliath skin - the "complete" edition was recently released but again, going to wait for a price drop (currently £45-50) before I buy it and trade in my regular copy. EA will not doubt release a "complete edition" or something a few months later... or at least sell the Season Pass for a sensible price (say £15-20?)

As a newbie to online shooters, I find it pretty good. Was a little anxious about entering a map and being literally destroyed. Turns out that mostly still happens but its enjoyable and addictive, with just enough tangible progression to keep me coming back each day. I assume if you are used to in-depth shooters then this may appear a bit light on content though, and I cant understand why they didnt string together a few maps and do a (half-arsed) single player campaign. Surely a few average/graduate-level developers could have been tasked with this? Nonetheless, I think this will go the way of Destiny and be bolstered by decent additional content in due course.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt after they scrapped the activation key to stop trading games but this is a step to far. Ordered Black Ops 3 after being loyal to the Battlefield series since 1942 (as in the game). Fifa 16 can take a running jump too.
