Ps2 was the pinnacle of Consoles imo. I remember going over to my neighbours for the first time when his dad has just got him one. I was loving my ps1 but seeing the ps2 for the first time was a memory that lives with me.
The look, the lights when it's powered on, the start up (not as good as ps1 but felt "futuristic") and then playing timesplitters. I went home and it felt like I had just been taken to the future, given a taste and then dumped back in the past. I saved up every penny I had from that moment and roughly 1 year later I bought one with Gran Turismo 3 and that was that.
Some of my best memories of gaming are the ps2 as I had it when I went to uni. Massive group parties playing Burnout 2 trying to get bigger crashes. Staying up all night playing Pro Evo 4 with mates. Driving around Vice City for hours just listening to the radio. I remember thinking that the PS2 had lost the ability to shock me and then Resident Evil 4 came out. Too many memories to list tbh.
Gaming will never be the same again.

You (we) have it it's called Playstation Now and according to Sony offers fantastic value.

I love this, but I'd love it even more if it was a console that I was a big fan of.

Another half-decent idea doomed to disuse by Sony's finance department :disappointed:

Really?
I have a PS3 & PS4 and never turn my PS3 on to play anything. Although admittedly I still use it for Blu-Rays due to no official media remote for PS4.

Probably can get a real PS2 for the same price, just need to invest in a shrink gun...

But that's the thing, why haven't sony made an official remote for the ps4 (xbox one has one)? I don't mean to bash the ps4 but I don't like the feeling when a company doesn't make the most of / fully support / back it's own console and starts work early on its replacement (ps5 anyone?)

If you have a Sony tv there's a ps4 app that lets you use your tv's remote , got my bravias working :-)

As much as I enjoyed the PS2, I still look back on the Dreamcast and the original Xbox with more fondness.

But it does not give you all the functionality of a full media remote

Sadly for Sony PS Now is bombing hard. They never talk about it in press releases or even at events like E3. The sooner that rip off service dies the sooner PS4 gets backwards compatability.

Sadly for Sony but the better for us. The sooner it dies the better.
They simply need to add the ability to stream them forever for a set fee (a fiver a game or less would be good) to get people buying them.

The startup jingles of PSX and PS2 though! Ahhhh, memories
There is literally no point in backwards compatibility. It would have been useful 2 years ago when the game lineup was lacking, but now - are you really going to go back and play ANY PS3 game when the likes of Fallout etc are out? I doubt it.

Yes i would. I play games not gens. If i invest money in games i want them to carry over to every gen otherwise gaming is literally a waste of money. Admittedly i'd want PS1 and PS2 BC than PS3 as PS1 and PS2 had insanely good games.

I'm sure the PS4 does this once you download and install the 20th anniversary theme from PSN....kind of :-)
Brilliant news. I actually bought some PS2 classics on PS3 a few years ago including the GTA and Persona games so hopefully they carry over and hoping for disc support. Fingers crossed.

Looking at the video, it appears to be just a touch longer than a standard key.
