Ok, this product is obviously for kids (I have three youngsters myself) and is a fun and meant to be an innocent and light hearted product and I recognise it as such and even buy into it myself so not trying to be a spoil sport, but its interesting over the centuries how we've been de-sensitised to history and what these things really meant.
Would be considered shocking to have a childs duvet of, for example, drug dealers, thieves, slave masters, rapists or murderers, tax evaders (think well publicised big companies or famous people) yet historically thats all some part of piracy we seem to forget. Put a fun, jolly slant on it, ignore those sides of it, see the pirate as a likeable cheeky hero of the working man in a few films, cartoons and TV shows and hey ho, its a marketing winner today!
Lets hope in several hundred years, our great great ancestors dont put the above subjects on their duvets if they still have them.
Sorry to sound a spoil sport or grumpy political nut, I genuinely see no harm in this duvet and am genuinely not trying to spoil the fun and innocence of this, but interesting to see how attitudes change as time passes and memories fade.
P.S. A great ancestor of mine was enslaved by "pirates" in north Africa and brought back to England many centuries ago so ironically I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for their existence.
