Review shows this is decent and a bargain but lacks the power to use android properly. Same issue with the Sony that I sent back. Still this is mega hot

The review doesn't really do it justice, the android runs great on this, apps are slick and smooth too. I can't stress how much of a bargain this is. I would recommend going through the AV forums 'picture perfect' settings though. They do a simple guide to getting the pic spot on

Bought one last week (sadly at £599), it runs android 5.0, and you can install Kodi on it. It's not available in the recommended apps - you just need to do a quick search on the store. Kodi runs as well on the to as it does on my fire tv box

Very nice price. Android TV is incredibly underwhelming though, so don't let it factor too much into your purchasing decision. There's no real benefit to it over any other smart TV platform.

Input lag is supposed to be poor and gaming mode actually increases it! (according to review above) Not for me then.

Don't understand all this lag business,I play Xbox on a 10 year old Samsung LCD no problems, surely its even better on a new TV?

Well that is a very very positve review from AV , this tv has gone to the top of my black friday tv list.
I really thought philips where down an out when it came to TVs.

I bought a sony 48 inch from argos 2 weeks ago. anyone know if I'll be able to box it up and take it back for this 1??

21 Nov 15#18
In my experience with argos, unless it's faulty, you can't take it back. i made sure the one i wanted replaced for a different model was faulty;)

i had no trouble the other week when returning a Panasonic 4k tv. they like it to be within 30 days of purchase and they asked me at the till if the product was faulty, the only reason being they can re-sell the product through outlet if it's working correctly. you shouldn't have an issue unless you bump in to a jobs-worth

Really can't fault it. Like I say, the Amazon Fire to box I have (4K version) runs pretty much the same as this to - which is pretty impressive as the tv is dual core and the fire tv is quad core. Android is a pretty light o/s (Kodi is even lighter). 4K steams through both Netflix and YouTube are awesome. I've not tried Amazon Prime yet as I don't have a subscription

I bought this when it was listed at £599.00 (on 08/10/2015). Very pleased with it. Quality is excellent, blacks are super black, 4k runs nice, the smooth motion works incredibly well (assuming high quality input material), and it stream from my plex server like a champion. On top of that actually supports netflix 4k (loads of 4k tv's dont so be careful), and also someone asked about kodi, yes it also runs that completely fine, used it loads before I setup my plex server.
Would definitely recommend!

If you want a TV purely for gaming/low input lag then opt for Sony TV.

22 Nov 15#41
As of now, if I were in the market for a TV up to 50 inches, I'll go with OLED full HD over 4K 3D if I could afford the price differential. The picture quality bears no comparison, it's all about the black levels which are of course perfect with OLED. However, 1080p stretched onto a larger screen size would not make great viewing even with OLED.

We didn't either, we got the Sony KD55X9305C. The particular model of Panasonic had a terrible display colour wise and it made a buzzing noise whenever you turned it on, was impossible to get any immersion. Having changed from a Pioneer Kuro it just added to the disappointment.

just bough one . the FIFA 16 works alright. but you need to change the settings picture to game . otherwise there is a big delay. also there is an software update. if you ring a costumer servis they will send you a link via mail. the update is not available on the TV menu.only through memory stick. so far happy for a purchase

I've reset it, cleared cache, force stopped the app, to no avail.

thanks. I did some more reading on the Philips forum and a simple power off and power on fixed it. why? I haven't a clue since I reset the device. I did find a way of side loading the apps, so no big deal.

The HD & 4K picture on this is fantastic, but is anyone else finding SD content really poor on this?
Trying to watch the football on SD Sky Sports and the picture isn't very good at all. The picture on our 50" TV downstairs is far better for SD.

Sorry for reviving an old thread. But I was wondering how you managed to side load apps to this TV. It doesn't let you use the ADB and the unknown sources option is blocked afaik. I would be glad if you could share your method(either here or via PM). Thanks!

Install file explorer from the app store on the TV then you install apks from sites with apps you want to sideload

I would choose a 1080p OLED TV over a 4K LCD TV anytime, but OLED is to expensive for me.
OLED screens are the best you can have.
