I ordered on the original deal from Currys this morning. Had one of them Chinese cheap ones before. Works great but lack of apps was it's downfall.

Thinking of changing the strap but will see what the one on it is like when it arrives tomorrow (Prime, you evil evil thing that makes me buy too much on Amazon)
I am pretty sure that is the goal of Prime

Haha, didn't even notice I'd written that... I also had one of the cheap chinese ones (initially got the fake moto G from Buyee but whilst it was nice it was limited like you say... then got the super cheap one for a tenner, U80, and it was just awful...)

i still easily get a week's life out of my time without turning it off each night - standby mode takes care of that.

Had one of these back when it was a Kickstarter. Love the 10-12 day battery life (not switching it off or anything - it just lasts that long). Moved up to a Steel last year and loving that too. Wear it daily.
Super price for the original Pebble!

i do sometimes wish their app store was easier to browse through, or at least had a web equivalent so that you could get a better idea of the apps available.

i'd be terrified i'd screw it up and the watch would fall off though

You can't... I've been on eBay looking at these for a few months since a disappointing cheap one on Amazon.
Plus you get warranty here too and its new

Fair enough. I got my used one for £37, having missed out on some for £27ish. I should imagine that the used prices will go down again after these £49 new deals.

It's quite a long way. I leave my phone on my desk and sit in a meeting room down the corridor, and the alerts come through. That's through a few walls on the way.
I have a friend who swims and leaves the phone in a bag at one end of the pool and he gets the alerts at the other end of the pool (gym pool, about 25 metres).

does this work with a windows phone? Maybe unofficially?
HankHandsome to topjake16
24 Nov 15#36
There's an unofficial paid app on the windows phone app store that claims to work with it, although some of the reviews look a bit iffy. It appears to only work while running on your phone, so kill the app and seemingly lose the connectivity.
ordered for my nearly 13 year old son, was on his Xmas list. brill price

Pebble doesn't have GPS, whereas the Tomtom I'm assuming you're thinking of getting does
Jetpac to ngac
24 Nov 15#45
I use it for running in conjunction with the strava app on my phone as an easily viewable display/pace setter.
the watch itself DOES NOT have GPS so to use if for running you have to carry the phone with you.
TOMTOM Sport im assuming has built in GPS that you download the data from.

i've got an iPhone 6s and the app store works just fine on mine - worked fine on my old 5s as well.
Yeah, that's part of the reason I wanted to try one like that, just for the added protection

This original version of the Pebble watch works really very well with an iPhone, the iPhone support steadily improved over a couple of years and is very good.
However, the newer Pebble Time has a few features (such as text reply from watch) that will only work on Android or on iPhones on AT&T contracts in the USA. No big deal, the core functionality is solid I can vouch.
The Pebble App store is just fine, never encountered or heard of any problem with that on iPhone.

Haven't tried specifically with a Pebble but straps are quite easy to swap. The benefit of a Nato strap like you posted is even if one connector breaks (very unlikely anyway) the watch will still stay on.

I was considering getting a smart watch but only a good one with all bells and whistles, does this do the job or is it lacking in in some way. Please advice me on which is the best smart watch . thanks fellow hot deal community :-)
androoski to extonjoe
24 Nov 15#55
Pebble watches are not all bells and whistles, but they do the important things well.
If you get a watch with all bells and whistles, then you will probably only get a 1 day battery life.
Pebble will give you 5-7 days between charges. The Pebble also has excellent sunlight readability.
Having said that, this original Pebble is from 2013 and is a bit dated, although it is still getting software updates.
My personal choice would be, the one that I already have - the newer Pebble Time.
