Pretty sure this is a Vestel TV. That doesn't mean it's terrible or bad value, but you perhaps need to judge it against cheaper brands like Polaroid or Hitachi - both rebadged Vestel products - rather thinking it's good because it's a Panasonic. If it says assembled in Turkey on the box, it's a Vestel.

Assume it's similar quality and doesn't get great reviews. Think I'd pay more for a better one personally....

I recently bought this TV and am more than happy with the value for money. Future proof, 4k, 3d,SMART, big screen. Has all the features. Watched nat geo hd documentaries, netflix full resolution movies and plated xbox games, with total satisfaction. Sound isnt that great but u can get soundbars for marginal price. I am managing without it so far. It may be vestral but i dont care.

4K for £500........ you know you're compromising on everything but the resolution and barely anything even uses 1080p in the UK, it's all 720p/1080.

I have one of these and I think there are a few issues you should know about before buying:

- The picture is good, great even when things are moving slowly but when there are fast moving images the tv cant keep up and you end up with a weird wobbly ghosting effect, this is most noticeable on peoples hand and limbs. I think it's an issue with the simulated high refresh rate.

- My tv (and lots of others from what I've read online) emits a very noticeable buzzing sound when certain image profile settings are used, switching to a different image setting seemed to solve this.

- It's a smart tv in the loosest sense of the word. It has hardly any apps and you can't add more. It has netflix, youtube and iplayer, that's pretty much it (there are a few other apps which include music apps and some foreign language apps). For me this was the biggest disappointment.

- the smart tv interface is also very dated and slow, like it's a first generation smart tv or something.

- I thought I could get around the apps issue this by installing the panasonic tv remote on my phone and just casting stuff to the tv but the app doesnn't recognize and 2015 viera tvs apparently.

Basically if I knew then what I know now I would have done without the 4k and just got a better branded tv from sony or samsung.

We just bought (ordered) one of these this morning for £500, to replace my £2k+ 8yr old 720p 42" viera plasma, I'm now wondering if I did the right thing!! In all honesty we're upgrading more because the plasma is just too damned heavy to put on the wall..

Ok, so it lags a bit when streaming, is that the only problem with them? We're old skool and just watch occasional dvd / sky tv, am I going to have problems with that?

Begs the q how you woud benefit from having 4k. Other Vestel-manufactured full HD TVs of similar size are / were(?) circa £200 (Celcus @ Sainsburys), so doesn;t seem sensible to pay additional £279 for a feature you will not use. Even the current Finlux smart FV-HD 50" (Vestel manufactured) is £180 less.

Will most universal active 3d glasses work with this?

Cant say for sure. but I bought these from ebay and though they look universal to me, they work absolutely fine.

i do agree that smart interface is not that SMART. But i mostly use Netflix and it works brilliantly. Also tested BBC iPlayer and youtube both of which are working flawlessly for me.

Yea you know what Netflix works great for me too, better than accessing the website on my htpc. IPlayer wasn't working for me for a long time but a recent update seems to have fixed that. Quick question. When I access the smart tv screen I seem to have a notification in the top-right of the screen. Don't suppose you know how to view it? I've tried every button on the remote but can't seem to figure it out.

No, sorry. No notification so far. Could it be that one of the smart apps are the source of this notification?

I have just bought one of these for £300 from Currys as the box was badly damaged so I bartered them down. So far I've watched Netflix ultra HD (Dare devil and Breaking Bad) and it was excellent quality. I've also watched football on sky sports HD and don't notice any issues.

No problems buffering or with the interface. For the price I'm made up!

Crap. If you are thinking of buying one(as I unfortunately did) be aware that you'll need to go on to the panasonic website to download an upgrade file. According to the Currys KnowHow fella on the other end of the line it's a "known issue" that these tv's keep turning themselves off. Mine did every 4 minutes, which can become frustrating should you wish to watch anything 5 minutes or longer. The chap that flogged it to me in the Currys store never mentioned that and I was greeted with their usual "after sales courtesy" when I took it back.
The apps are much inferior to the Samsung effort on my other smart tv. I'd imagined that they were all much of a muchness... not so.
Saying all that, the screen is good. The speakers are not.
I wish I'd spent the extra £100 and stuck with Samsung.

feel sorry for you. For me the upgrade was seamless. i just plugged a lan cable from my router into the tele and shortly afterwards it asked for a software update. also never had the reset issue.

Bought one from Currys, took it back the next day! Picture is way out of sync on HD sources, such as Sky Box, BT freeview box....anything via HDMI. The stand is flimsy and massively wide.....98cm! Picture is not great....my 12 year old Plasma is better and the smart section and graphics in general look very dated.....avoid!

I've had this tv a week now and the quality of picture is absolutely superb. The HD using Sky Q is beautiful and the 4k picture on Netflix (subscribing to their 4k package) is absolutely outstanding. I've had absolutely no issues with this TV whatsoever using these 2 sources (Sky and Netflix) and can't wait for Sky Q to start showing 4k programming. Definitely worth a punt at £399.00 from currys presently. The complaints on this thread are clearly from people who like slightly more expensive tvs with better quality picture, which is fine, but for anyone who just wants a good TV with good quality HD and top notch 4k picture at a great price, for a tv which looks really smart in your living room then I'd definitely say this tv is worth it.

The problem is that these people don't have this TV, but have strong opinions on it, if they had this TV, they would see the value for money it is, if you see it in a showroom and liked what you see plus it's within your budget, then you should go for it.
This thing about where it's put together plus the quality of the parts, every manufacturer sub out the making of TV's there is 2 or 3 manufacturing make there own TV in house, but they are few and far between, I retail these Panasonic TV's and have not had any problems with them, they are good value for money, not everyone can go for other TV's at a higher price, people have a budget and have to stick to it, if you can afford a better TV then go for it, but don't run down the people that can't, plus don't put a product down that you don't own.
