For those who own one of these I created a controller, which works on a standard windows PC, for use in my "smart home".
Basically you can control the device on your pc.
If you want you can download it free here.

Received mine today. And pleased to report it works on WiFi AND via Web control.
If I turn my wifi off and use 4G on my phone its still able to control it. I read up on this and it seems originally it was local network only but a firmware update is available for those wanting to have cloud control.
Hot from me.

Sone Options could be:
1. orvibo switch £10ea but only work on plugged in lamps
2. The new Qube light on Indiegogo which are about 19USD each
3. Get a Philips hue generation 1 hub on eBay, going for around £10 and then buy the hue white bulbs £15ea

Just wondering when you say lights I assume you mean lamps? I want to be able to control plugged in lamps but also the main house lights (at least a couple of rooms) so am looking for a good all in one solution that does both and isn't too expensive

Each of these fits onto 1 plug socket.
It can control (on/off) only that particular socket.
So, if you want to control many items from 1 socket, you need a extension lead which costs about 5-10GBP, but if you go this route, you will shut down all applicances on that extension lead.
Alternatively, you can buy multiple orvibo sockets to shut down each appliance, individually.
Its brilliant to have the ability to turn your garden lights on when you get in to your GEO fence range.

Go for WeMo, used it constantly for past few months with a fan heater with no problems whatsoever. Highly recommended.

Got a Wemo which works well. Got it hooked up to Sony Smartwatch so I can turn lights on and off with it.

is it much different to having a timer switch though? (in terms of safety)

My outside lights were switched from the garage which is incredibly inconvenient so I have now got them controlled using one of these sockets. It works well.

Ordered a few things from bang this past couple of weeks. My mobius dash cam was delivered in around 6 days & a Xioami power bank in a similar amount of time.
I've a few more things ordered as I was impressed at the price & delivery - the gear they said was original also checked out & passed the authenticity tests, so I'm happy
Decided to take a miss with this though after reading up on up.
