It's worth pointing out that the OnePlus X sold by Geekbuying and others on Ebay is the Chinese model, and does not support the 800MHz 4G LTE band. This means O2, Tesco & Giffgaff users will not be able to connect to a 4G LTE network using this model. The 1800- and 2600MHz bands are supported, so users of other UK mobile networks should be fine.
If I hold the phone in landscape mode with the power button on the bottom I get a few annoying pixels when watching movies on Netflix on the left hand side of the screen (about a 1/3 of the way in). If I flip the phone with the power button on the top this completely goes away.
Hmmm...strange.
Plus SD Cards do not work (yet)!

Great phone - on paper. The reality of owning said phone is a lot less sweet. Also, any self respecting Android user wants a 'pure' Android experience...no bloatware whatsoever. Nexus 5x is the current Android King - still.

Oxygen OS is as close enough to pure. The Nexus 5x lacks two important features of the X, dual sim and expandable storage.

The best feature about this phone is the double SIM card slot and micro SD slot.

the new nexus is a rip off for its new price tag. any self respecting android fan will also know cyanogen or other custom ROMs fair even better than stock android. ( more features and more control) the nexus 5x was never a king. the old nexus 5 yes.

Set mine up this morning (I got mine through an invite).
Initial reactions - had to reboot twice just for it to recognise my Wifi network.
Also Play store kept crashing so had to start all over.
Annoyingly the hardware buttons for home/back etc are not lit which means I have gone back to using the software buttons.
Very smooth and fast - although I am hardly a poweruser.
I have come from a HTC One M8 and this one does feel "better".
Any questions please ask away.

This is an awesome piece of hardware, but I'd recommend anyone thinking of buying takes a look at the oneplus support forums. The software side isn't looking that clever. A few complaints about OxygenOS bugs and lack of updates for the Oneplus One which is only last years model. Moto X Play might be a better bet

StonedSte to Lanius
6 Nov 15#40
The S5 has the same snapdragon 801, a slightly bigger screen and has a heart beat sensor. In fact the only thing the Oneplus X beats it on is the extra 1gb of ram, so yes you made the right choice :smirk:

8 Nov 151#62
Where on earth did you get a S5 for sub £200?
finbaar
8 Nov 15#61
You are right. EE and 3 use B3 VF and O2 use B20. 3 have started rolling out B20 for very limited VOLTE (not data) and all 4 networks have B20 spectrum that they will use eventually. But for now if you are on 3 or ee then B3 is enough. Where I live the only LTE we have is ee B3 anyway and I am on 3, so it's theoretical for me (until I make a trip into the civilised world)
finbaar
8 Nov 15#60
Completely wrong. Most serious Android users WILL have their favourite skew, be it touchwiz , sense, cm, Nexus etc. No way would I own a Samsung again. The S5 is still a good phone for some but when compared to the OPX it is old and probably won't be supported past 6.0.

TypicalAsianFindingDeals
7 Nov 15#58
Erm no... people don't buy smartphones based on specs. They buy it for the experience, how well the hardware and software go well together. That's why the iPhone sells so well.
So based on the experience of the smartphone, the Oneplus X is much better than the S5.

On a £200 phone... It features a premium build, fast processor and great screen - It's amazing they have been able to do all that for only £200.
Adding a finger print scanner would of bumped the price up close to the OnePlus 2, which isn't where they want this phone to be.

I'm pretty sure it's only the EE and 3 that will be able to take advantage of 4G on this phone.

OnePlus X seems to have a lot better spec compared to the OnePlus Two, however OnePlus Two has a 3300mAh battery whilst OnePlus X has a 2525mAh one. It's obviously not as big as a OnePlus Two, but a lot better for those who find 5 inch phone enough these days.

The S5 and OpX are aimed at two completely different audiences. The OpX focuses on a quality crafted finish, with a near stock android experience. It is fashion orientated. Whereas if I was in the market for a phone that was made of cheap plastic with bloatware and gimicks, the S5 would tick the boxes.
The OpX is not about brute power. For a fairer comparison, to the S5, look at the Op2

I doubt you'd get a ceramic version at that price, let alone in white.
From what I can gather, the white is exclusive to China and the ceramic (exclusive) was sold out yesterday on the UK Oneplus site.
