For a limited time only, Now TV will be offering a 40% discount on its £24.99 movies, entertainment and sport box bundles. The offer applies to new customers and will run over the Black Friday weekend – from Friday 27 November until Monday 30 November.
Customers can choose from three bundles, each one includes a Now TV box (worth £14.99) and free passes to either Sky Movies, Sky Entertainment or Sky Sports channels on a monthly or daily basis.
The Now TV box gives you access to hundreds of hours of Sky programming, without a subscription. To watch Sky content, you'll need to purchase one of three Now TV passes focused around movies, sports and entertainment. After purchasing a pass you'll need to plug the box into your TV using the supplied HDMI cable and wirelessly connect it to your broadband.
The £24.99 movies bundle includes a two month pass to Sky Movies channels. With a huge selection of titles on offer at any time, Sky Movies showcases some of the latest releases along with hundreds of other films to suit all the family. All eleven Sky Movies channels are available through Now TV including Sky Movies Family, Sky Movies Premiere and Sky Movies Comedy.
With the £24.99 entertainment bundle you’ll get three months access to Sky 1, Sky Living, Fox, Comedy Central, MTV, Gold, Sky Artist 1 and the Disney Channel. Now TV is also the only way to watch Sky Atlantic without a Sky TV subscription.
The Sky Movies and Entertainment Passes will renew each month until you cancel, which you can do at any time.
The £24.99 sports bundle lets you watch all seven Sky Sports channels including Sky Sports News HQ, Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports F1 for two separate 24-hour periods. So you only pay for the sports news and coverage you want to watch.
Each time you log into the service, you’ll be notified of time remaining on your pass and if you're watching sports content, you’ll have the option to purchase and activate a new pass.
In addition to passes, you can use the Now TV box to download apps. You can also use it to turn your TV into a smart TV and access sites like Facebook, Spotify and BBC iPlayer.

Since the last update to iPlayer, it's become a little bit sluggish and prone to locking up. The other services are still fine though. I'm going to get the new one, especially with 40% off, then save the entertainment pass for Game of Thrones.

Seems a lot more responsive to me, especially noticeable on iPlayer. The improved Wi-Fi probably helps a lot as well, haven't had any problems on the new box.

Yes you side load it after activating dev mode. However be aware that although it will play back anything (15GB 1080P mkv's) you may not get any audio as they didn't license all the audio codecs. This is very frustrating as otherwise it would be brilliant. Have read you may get audio if you do it via HDMI pass-through, but none of my devices supported it.
That said the black box is vastly superior to the white one smoother in all the apps and better wifi.

There are plenty of legal channels on Kodi. For example you can watch itv player minus the adverts. Russia today is good and also has on demand shows including documentaries. Now tv is also good if you buy a pass but limited overall as the roku channel store has been curtailed to encourage owners to buy sky passes.

I currently have one of the white boxes in my bedroom and was looking at getting another box for my daughter's bedroom. Just wondering, will the black box be compatible with the white one (can they be linked on the same account)? Also, it says it has an ethernet connection - my computer is downstairs so would not use this bit - would the quality be only as good as the white box if the ethernet connection is not used (just use the HDMI cable)? Don't know whether it is really worth paying out a bit extra for the black one (on Black Friday) if it works no better than the white one (when not using the ethernet) - any ideas about this please? Thank you.

Use Gmail - you can add keywords to your address (for filtering purposes) that appear as a different email address to most mail systems.
i.e. [email protected], [email protected], etc will all get delivered to [email protected] but NowTV will see them as different accounts.
Likewise, you can have a perpetual Amazon Prime trial ([email protected], etc).

The Universal Search function only covers Netflix and recently Amazon though out the major services, so when you consider Amazon was only put on there less than a month back then having a "Universal" search that only functioned for Netflix wasn't much of a selling point in the UK. It's also a similar situation for the "my feed" feature by all accounts. Still a good box though, and one of the only streaming devices out there with ALL the major streaming services available to it.

So, I'm new to this:
I have a 40" Sony 40W2000 TV in my lounge (non-smart, won a lot of awards in it's day, can't get shot of it until it gives up)
I also have an original Sky HD box (at the moment) without movies. I want to make my TV a "Smart" TV... and one of these will do it right?... along with Chromecast or Amazon Firestick, Roku/others right?
I'm not really that bothered about streaming my RIPed DVD library or home movies, just watching good web streaming/catch-up content.
My sky box gives me catch-up (unless I drop Sky - which I'm considering). But for Netflix and Amazon Prime I have to use the Wii-U. The Wii-U is slow and the apps for Netflix and Amazon are clunky. Having movies on demand appeals, Sky Boxsets would also appeal.
As It understand it the Now TV box does not natively support Netflix or Amazon, only Sky and Freeview content right?
So can it be modded?... Or should I be looking at something else?
Is there an other "free"/cheap content worth having available on these devices/others?
I want a device that won't become quickly obsolete i.e. the manufacturer is hot on new apps and supporting their device.
Any ideas?
Thanks

How do you add 'credit' to these? Is it via a code or something that you purchase? Somebody mentioned that you should use the 14 day free trial first, then you can get your two months movies to start from when that is finished, but I just wondered if that is possible. So I presume you would buy the box (without any package), then activate the trial, and then activate the movie package when that has finished. But obviously not wanting to miss out on the weekend deals, is it possible to just buy the 40% off deal now, and bank it until the trial is up?
One final thing - I guess the movie package doesn't give access to the Box Sets, just the on demand Sky Movies library?
Sorry for the questions, but it seems like a good deal and might be nice over Christmas. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
steague86 to Axeman

Movies won't give you box sets. Movies are movies, box sets are TV series'
jans to Axeman
27 Nov 15#57
Yes, you add the credit via the code beneath the grey scratch off strip on the enclosed card within the pack. But it's best to register for the free trial first and then add the code after you've registered. The box sets are accessed separately through an 'Entertainment pass' whilst the movies are accessed through the Movies pass. You need to have two separate vouchers/passes to access both.
And no offense to the OP but the better deal right now is the other NoW Tv deal posted today for Tesco (and Amazon are doing it too) for 4 Months of Movies for only £19.00. The box is the newer black one like this one only you get twice what's on offer here for £6 less. They also have 6 months Entertainment for the sam price. Here:

Can you elaborate a little on this one? The way I've read your post is, if I change my email to 'my [email protected]' is that with or without the plus symbol? it will recognise it as being different from my own email but still send it to my email? Is this while setting up a new account? If so do you not get asked for payment details? Is it a case of cancelling every month and changing the email a little every time?
