if true, no
those things are quite often store specific, most good shops will send you a handset fully set up & ready to go for the country you're from, so that was prob just early sample or something that they reviewed
buying from somewhere like gearbest i'd be very surprised if it didn't have Play etc all done for you when you got it tbh

Items from sellers outside the UK did not used to be permitted but HUKD seems to have slackened off recently on this and a number of other quality issues. I don't understand why anyone with experience of Mediatek powered devices would ever want to experience it more than once. Yes all smartphones are made in China but the quality control will be entirely different when you compare these types of brands against the more established.

The CPU in this phone is a powerhouse so i think you should do your home work, a lot of phones will be using it like the phones we buy here like HTC, Samsung.
you should really research or better yet try this years mediatek processors before saying such things, take it from a guy who has used 2 medium end mediateks this year, and one highend from last years batch, the mtk6752 and mtk6753 are better in every single way over what was the highend mtk6792, the helios X10 should give you snapdragon 80x performance

This is a free market, you can buy from anywhere. But how about warranty? What happens if the phone is dead on arrival? If something goes wrong? How about customs import duties when you buy from outside the EU? All these are risks you have to factor in when buying from overseas.

It's around 1000RMB in China. It's a quality-built phone by one of the best TV media company in China. Bloatware can be uninstalled easily and google play service can be installed to get gmail, play book etc working. 4g only works in EE and Three
I love these Chinese phones but I always just buy from Amazon as they seem to stock most of these cool Chinese phones albeit a slightly dearer price, but it's worth it paying an extra tenner to get the peace of mind should anything go wrong.

I have seen somewhere that if you update the rom, it will get rid of google services. Apparently no more major fix updates are needed though, just minor things. Either way when i get the phone I'll put on google services and update, just to test.
Also I have found that you can install an ASOP rom from XDA forums for this phone. I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing all that so won't be posting more info because I don't want to be responsible for bricking someones phone when I won't be able to help fix either lol

I finally got delivery of this phone from China and it seems a really nice phone. However the stock rom is getting on my wick, plenty of bloatware and annoying Chinese bits and pieces.
Anyone rooted this and found a good ROM? I haven't got a clue.
I've bought the phone for my girlfriend's Christmas present and she's used to a first gen Moto G and I'd like the LeTV to be as similar as the Moto G in use.
I've tried sticking Nova Launcher on it but it keeps crashing.

Typing this on my elephone p7000 that was a focalprice pre-order, was dispatched very shortly after they became available in early June. Only downsides with the p7000 being that it'll be stuck on android 5.0 as for some reason mediatek have never released the firmware. That said, it runs fine on 5.0, there's a couple of decent custom roms but the factory rom suits me fine. For it's price pre launch ($149) there's still not much with similar specs that can touch it. To date, there's been about 5 small ota updates that have sorted the majority of the issues.
Buying the p7000 was a pure gamble, the most reliable part of the purchase was focalprice, have to say it turned out well.
goombahxxx
17 Dec 15#74
How can the most reliable part of a purchase be from a company sending an item from Asia? Better thank your lucky stars it came out good for you...they now want me to provide local post office proof that I DID'NT receive my phone!!! Did you ever hear anything as ridiculous? You pay your money and take your chances with this mob.....
sunil237 to goombahxxx
17 Dec 15#75
I agree, they are horrible to deal with. My phone was on an infinite loop of crashing. they asked for a video, so sent a youtube link. "youtube doesn't work in our country".. ok, sent a vimeo link + an attachment of mp4 in the email.. "we cannot open that format".. through paypal they agreed that I can send it back for a refund, but I have to pay the return. I have a feeling they will not get the phone. I am luck I paid through my CC and through paypal, no matter what I'm going to get my money back.
How did you pay? if you used a credit card, tell them they want documented proof the item didn't arrive and the post office said they can't give that
Infiltrator to goombahxxx
18 Dec 15#76
Maybe 'reliable' wasn't the right word, what I meant was that when I ordered the phone I had no experience of elephone, the p7000 hadn't been launched so no proper reviews, but at least I'd heard of and used focalprice. Yes it was a complete gamble, but at least the purchase cost was covered by credit card guarantee. I'd been wanting to try a phone from one of the fledgling Chinese manufacturers for some time and I did as much research as I could.
In my case focalprice were fine, I had a second ordered through gearbest that I cancelled as they were very slow at getting stock after launch.
I guess my point is that buying largely unknown new model phones from Chinese retailers comes with risks. Would I do it again? - possibly not, I'd maybe wait for reviews before ordering, unless there was another big discount for a presale and the manufacturer had some form.
