1gb ram, comes with HERE maps/drive, mix radio etc.
If you just fancy messing around with Windows phone why not pick one of these up for £39.
Tesco in Glasgow Sauchihall street has about 30 of these available in orange and black. The chap thought it was national according to his stock computer. I had to ask if they had black in stock as they were out of the leaflets you take to the counter and they had a bunch in the stock room.
Whilst this is sold as a tesco mobile device. I unwrapped it and put a '3' sim in it which worked first time. I've also tried a Vodafone sim and it works a treat. unlocked goodness.
If you note the receipt, I actually picked this up for £34 as I went shopping for £15 of ready meals and received a £5 coupon. I then re-entered the shop, bought the phone and used the coupon and got this for £35.
It doesn't compare to my iPhone6s but for the curious it's about the cheapest I've found for a Windows phone.

The standard 635 only has 512mb so that's a good price for the 1gb model.
I think you meant to say that the standard 630 has only 512MB of RAM.

Ok. It's late and I'm confused. If you go to Tesco's website, you can get a Lumia 635 SIM free in one of two ways. Select Nokia as the brand, and you get one from Tesco for £89. Or if you look for a Microsoft Lumia 635, it'll take you to one from Cleverboxes for £101. Both illustrations have Nokia as the brand. The OP's is clearly Nokia. So which is it, Microsoft or Nokia?

This is a Nokia Lumia handset with Nokia branding, I believe it was one of the last Nokia branded WinPhones before it changed to Microsoft Lumia but I'm sure one of the WinPhone experts can fill in the history here.

And that little thing called 4G which makes a world of difference to any phone if you are in a 4G area, basically makes the phone 10 times faster when using the internet.
They had these in Exeter, not on display but in a cupboard below. However, they were still scanning at £89 (they don't have tickets to take to the till as it's a dedicated phone section with a member of staff in it all the time).
I phoned my local Tesco hub on 0345 671 9454 to check stock and he told me the following (according to his system):
Unlocked should be £89
Tesco mobile should be £39
Vodafone should be £10
Possibly a wild goose looking for a Vodafone one.

Both the 635 and 630 were released with 512MB RAM (the difference being the 630 is 3G only). An updated version of the 635 was released in the UK this year, with 1GB RAM. Both units have the same model number.
The 1GB version states '1GB RAM' on the back of the box (as in the OP's image). If it just states Lumia 635, it's the 512MB version.

Call Tesco (or telcos if you want) on 0800 50 5555 and ask. They'll tell you what's available as of midnight last night in your local stores. Simples. But don't get your hopes up. When I checked earlier today, I could find plenty but at £89. As camerol #48 said, I think the OP got lucky.

glasgow sauchiehall street have no leaflets on the shelf but customer services checked the stock room and said they have 1 left but it scanned at £89. I told her my friend bought one for £39 and she said thats the locked to tesco ones and they have none of those left. Looks like op was lucky to be given the unlocked one in error by someone who didn't know.

This.
I checked a few of stores today when I was out and about and all of them were the same. It's the locked to tesco one that's £39 (none in stock anyway) and the unlocked version is still £89 so op won a watch with dizzy staff giving him the unlocked one for £39 as seen on the receipt he posted which shows they did an override on the price.

If you get one that is locked to Tesco Mobile, no. Phones locked to Tesco Mobile are double-locked, O2 or GiffGaff SIMs do not work in handsets locked to Tesco Mobile, despite running on the same network.

It's a bit of an oddity in a way. I've been a Windows Phone user since launch and I've certainly found it easier to use than either Android or iOS. Microsoft pitch the platform at gamers as it has Xbox Live integration but it seems to be popular amongst technophobes and older people. The large icons are very comfortable to read and press, the on-screen alphanumeric keypad seems to be more accurate than either iOS or Android, especially if you have fat fingers, and there's less clutter as all your apps are listed in alphabetical order - so none of the stupid hunting around and squinting at the screen you get with either of the other two platforms.

Worst phones i have ever used, i bought the 435 and it has a terrible app store most of them are fake scam apps, doesn't have official popular apps and the ones it does have are very bad. Phones force close apps all the time, web browser is awful and the phones can't even load websites properly like even hduk or n4g which is bad.... N4G it just can't load and you get a white screen when scrolling. I took it back swapped it for this 635 and it's even worse! It has all the same issues plus the touch screen is awful! I wouldn't even take this phone if it was free!

Well i have used a 635 and found it to be a fine phone. Much better than Android which likes to continually update its apps. The windows store has all the main apps.
I did change it to an Android and have now gone back to windows.

Just a quick update on the unlocked status of the phones. The *only* Lumia 635 phones that were available in the Tesco store where I picked this up were originally marked as £89 - down to £39. The 2 models available were changes to colour only (Black or Orange) and both were marked as Tesco network phones. There was no option for an unlocked Vs Locked model, both were marked as Tesco Mobile phones.
As noted originally, I unwrapped this and put a ‘3’ sim card in which worked first time then tried a Voda sim, which once again worked straight away. It’s never seen a Tesco sim and it’s not been unlocked via Ebay.
You can always take it back if it doesn’t work. It's certainly cheap enough.

I tried the customer services and they tried to contact 4 larger stores within 30 mins drive from me and couldn't get through to any of them so I set off and went around three stores Huddersfield (didn't have any phones at all) Halifax who only had the unlocked 635 and was full price then drove to Brighouse who have an actual phone store in the store and spoke to them, they also only had the full price unlocked 635 and told me the cheaper for ones are tesco locked and they are coming away from locked devices (didn't state wether sim free only or contract as well) and selling units as unlocked so selling off older stock. If anybody sees any around Leeds or Bradford areas please let me know..................

Thanks OP. I managed to get one because they had left the old price label of £39 on the display stand so they sold me an unlocked £89 phone and reduced it to £39.
