Completely different audience. I already had an Xbox One and a PS4 when I picked up a Wii U. Its the most played console in our house, everybody plays it (apart from the daughter, it's not quite Netflix).
Brilliant little consoles, and that is coming from somebody who slated Nintendo for so, so long.

Weird - I posted probably the least contentious / most boring comment I've ever made on HUKD (how to get best value from your currency conversion) here which was then deleted without explanation...
Short version, don't use Amazon currency conversion if you have a fee free credit card (e.g. Santander Zero, Halifax Clarity, Post Office, etc) unless you want to pay an extra £5 or so...

something like this You will need TWO. One for the Wii U unit and one for the handheld charger.(That's if you don't want to have to use temporary adapters).

You can either cut off the two pin and rewire to a uk plug or use an adapter.
Has anyone received this? Was it delivered from the UK? Also what if there were any problems under guarantee would amazon France deal with it the same as amazon uk?

And also, Amazon.fr automatically offer a conversion at checkout so you won't have any bank fees as the deduction will be in sterling!

Got this bundle a few days ago. Whilst I had these two games on disc and I am a huge proponent of no digital, I still think it was good to own them digitally, keeps from swapping discs. Although I did think whether it would make sense to sell splatoon online for £25 quid. Hmmmm, wonder if I made a mistake by not selling it.
Gamer_U to MadonnaProject

Those digital copies were/are locked to the console itself than the user Nintendo ID account so it's not really a good idea for someone who eventually wants to play them a few years after.

As said Halifax has the Clarity Credit Card which you can use abroad and they won't charge an extra fee so I assume other banks have it too. It's extremely useful for scenarios like these to dodge paying unnecessary extra £.

I own a Wii U with tonnes of accessories and probly 20 games and 10 eshop titles, it's my only console.
But I would not be buying one right now! With XBox 1 / PS4 for sub £250, steam machines about to come out and the fact that Nintendo themselves have abandoned it for a new console release in 2016. Very bad time to be buying a very mispriced console IMHO.

Thanks
I did the above and went ahead and ordered, with one postage date and one postage charge. But now they have split the order for delivery (same price on the site at the top under 1 order , but 3 different delivery dates) and some things are dispatched already - but only some money has came outta account ( in pending transactions) - not 1 lump sum as I thought so far 3 smaller amounts? Does this change things or will it all be the same in the end? Sorry for all the questions! Thank you

Just means you didn't select the send all together option... it should effect postage cost like it doesn't on the UK Amazon site.

Bit the bullet and bought it. Given I don't have early prime access to amazon's daily deals (and I assume that means on Black Friday as well), and loads of the gaming sites crashed last black friday so I don't have any great hope for them even if they do put decent wii console deals up.
It's all well and good pointing out this was cheaper last year (I could have had a wii u premium with the lego city game for £125!!! at one point), and saying 'well I'm holding out for more money off AND hard copies of the games AND free doughnuts for a year' but the sellers seem to be pretty much sticking together over the price of these and it's top of the list for Christmas in my household, so it's bought and at least I don't have the hassle of hunting for it anymore.

Thanks so much for ur advice.
I'm saving so much so I'm thinking spending 500 euro on games etc... Would work out in and around £350ish then 10 postage - am I right in thinking the fee would be about £15 for foreign card use ? This is still a big saving for me.
Just wonder will any packaging for skylanders/Lego dimensions/ amiibos/ wii u games come in French? Or will they be same as here ? Thanks again
MadeInBeats to Sannnddy
21 Nov 151#32
Best way to do this is figure out the foreign charges percentage on your cards using Google search and make a note so you know which card gives the best charges and use that.
Put everything you want to buy in your basket and proceed through the checkout stopping at the page that shows your grand total with postage charges included.
Now Google a currency converter and convert that total from euro to pounds. Lastly, Google a percentage calculator if you're not so hot at maths like me and add on the percentage your card charges. Now you know exactly how much it comes to.

Can anyone please tell me if I order a lot of wiiu games, dimensions, level packs and a few amiibos and a Lego set would I be ok to buy from Amazon.fr? I don't mind paying postage but is there an import charge ? Or customs or anything that I could be hit for after? Thanks so much in advance
MadeInBeats to Sannnddy
21 Nov 151#28
There are charges on credit and debit cards for purchases abroad... you might have a credit card that doesn't charge (some Halifax cards are good I think) .. you might need this http://www.percentagecalculator.net/
Gamer_U to Sannnddy
21 Nov 151#30
There isn't a customs' fee because France is part of Europe so if anything, your bank may charge you an abroad fee instead. If you do not have a foreign fee-free card then Halifax Clarity may suit you but it'd take a couple of days to arrive still.

Thanks - I'm such a novice! It's a major saving going by my 3 boys Christmas lists!! Just afraid it wouldn't be a saving after charges.

I think system transfer is easy enough, but if you had a Wii U previously with digital content and sold that on, you can reclaim all your digital with a phone call to Nintendo. It helps if you unlinked your NNID from the WiiU before you sold it, and Nintendo will ask you security questions about the digital stuff you purchased, passwords etc etc...
I'm hoping the phone call bit won't be required with their new account system which we know they have in the pipeline.

Last year this console was at a much lower price. I dont know why it increased so much. The wii u doesnt worth this much money, in comparison to the competition.

I have a 3ds and new 3dsxl i love Nintendo games but this console is just not worth the money. Im not saying the games are bad the other 2 consoles are just better value specially the xbox one if it does end up being able to stream pc games. I hope ms dont bodge this im gonna go for the xbox this time around.

I agree that the Wii U should be cheaper than this when taking into consideration what the competition are doing. However, the Wii U has some truly brilliant games. It still has the best line up of any current generation console in my opinion. Admittedly this won't last much longer but I highly recommend buying this console!

Yeah the wii has nice games but its miles behind the ps4 and xbox. The xbox will soon be able to stream pc games to it and plays many xbox 360 games now. The ps4 can do things with old ps games too.
Still dunno what to get my son but wii u is off the list at this price.
Think about all them lego humble budle games on the pc streamed to the xbox one! My son will love it.

Sure about that? Considering they come pre-loaded with each console it'd make more sense that they're locked to that console ID than being transferred to the Nintendo ID account.
MadonnaProject
20 Nov 15#15
Are you sure? I think the downloadable code ones become linked to the nintendo ID however the pre-installed ones are on their under your account activity too. I think they can be moved to a different console through a system transfer and nintendo ID transffer. Which is the most retarded id system on any console.

This is a pretty good deal and a lot safer than the crappy/shifty Ratkunen/Pixel Electronics deals people keep insisting on posting on Wii U bundles. Far better to go with Amazon.fr .es. de. .it or where ever.
Should note, anyone who buys this will probably need to obtain a UK plug adaptor, and being an EURO version of the console, it may affect resale value.
