I love the fact that people still believe that public sector workers actually get chance to have a lunch break.

Let's hope you never need to visit your local hospital. The shock alone might kill you.

public sector workers don't get a lunch break - because they don't do anything when they are supposed to be working.

Depends on the store. Most around Manchester do the 999 deal where you get a footlong for the same price as a 6".

There is a nationwide 999 deal, we get it in Wigan. Doesn't usually include a free cookie though.

Not always the best deal though - quite often the Vouchercloud app has any footlong plus drink and cookie for £4.99, whereas for the more expensive subs, the 999 deal would pay £5.69.

well it's up to public sector workers to decide if other public sector works are allowed a lunch break or if they need to be kept in their cages like my monkey

I think that NHS employees do a fantastic job - the one thing that annoys me about these type of discriminatory deals - you could have a Nurse or a Porter on £15k - £30k who can take advantage of these deals or a Consultant who earns more than £100k+ from the NHS and also may have a private income as well gets the same deal. There are plenty of hard working people in non public sector jobs who do not earn anything like this amount of money that really make a massive difference to everybody - these deals I find insulting to non public sector workers.

wife is working as a mental nurse starting from £24/h, for agency, double on sunday and bank holiday TRIPLE, last year had more that 70k after tax (ltd company=no tax to pay), im hgv driver doing +70 hr per week and can't earn halv of it.....
duncster
8 Nov 15#30
That is exactly my point - not sure what you deliver but if the shelves were empty in your supermarket because of the lack of HGV drivers then we would be saying that HGV drivers are essential workers. I just find these deals that target public sector workers as discriminatory and bad taste. They are not based on your earnings and I have to say that public sector workers till now have some of the best pensions.

& there are many NHS nurses who DON'T get that money, because their trusts will not cough up for excessively expensive pay out for staff who do not know the system in indivdual wards etc & therefore are not worth their salt, mostly it's folk filling in fo no more than another shifts cost, or having to fill in & have their rota re-worked thereafter.
The criteria for nurses filling the gap these days is to use what you've got, borrow a nurse from elsewhere, or simply "suck it" & suffer more patients with less nurses, as long as they are not likely to endanger the ward....
duncster
8 Nov 15#33
I was never suggesting that nurses get that kind of money, however, employees on much less money emptying our waste, delivering our food, providing us with clean water. Which are essential to us do not get this deal that's what I find appalling and discriminatory.
