Get the LG G4 or G3 (if your on a budget), I had my nexus 4 for 3 years and was going to get a 5x but then I saw the specs and the price and went for a LG G4 for £285

Had a quick play with the 5X at CPW in Liverpool Street yesterday, not convinced it's a worthwhile upgrade from my 5, screen and general performance were comparable I thought. Getting over the "shiny new phone" desire, think I'll wait a while.

I've got both....both great phones but there is definitely teething issues with Oxygen OS still...Nexus has no issues....both great devices in different ways...Nexus is much the better day to day phone due to grip and no bugs but the oneplus x is a thing of beauty if you can put up with some weird software glitches for now...

Yes sorry, stable release of a mainstream ROM eg. CM12.1 or 13 is what I am waiting for. Looks like they're making progress but will always be months behind the Nexus range.
Joking aside, do you mean Release Candidate almost pure android roms? If so you maybe right but CM12.1 or AICP cant be far off.

My issue with the Nexus 5X (and I covered this in my full review) is that it is unnecessarily large.
They've made it almost as tall as the LG G4 yet it only has a 5.2 inch display (the G4 has a 5.5 inch display). If it had stereo speakers I could forgive it but it doesn't because for some reason Google decided to only make the bottom one the speaker.
I personally think the OnePlus X is a much better phone because it is as fast and smooth as the Nexus 5X but is essentially the same size as the Nexus 5 but with upgraded specs. So, it's the best of both worlds.

There are no released ROMs for the G4 yet as far as I know. Have a G4 myself and am waiting for one to be ready.

For me, nothing beats the pure untouched Android experience. Yes, I know you can root the G4, but I prefer nexus phones.

G4 is a far better bet for less cash. Also build is awful on these... Very cheap looking and feeling

Had this phone a week now and absolutely love it.
Was considering the G4 however this phone is the sweet spot in screen size for me and pure android is just bliss.
Thanks for the head up when I bought this a week ago.

same, got a G4 for 280. Apart from the battery not being amazing, the phone is absolute quality.

I've bought an LG G4 now, more memory, replaceable battery and SD Card slot. It should be getting Marshmallow soon, although I was a little underwhelmed by this OS update.

I've upgraded from the nexus 5 and trust me, it's worth it.
Better screen, better camera, better battery and the nexus imprint is brilliant.

I did this on my G2. I had CyanogenMod for a while and while it was as pure as it could be (kinda) I wanted to have the mosr pure of them all

I know the G4 and Moto Style X are better phones but the one thing that draws me to this phone: Pure Android.
I know Moto Style X has close to pure android, but its not the same and with having an LG G2 for over 2 years, I really crave the pure android

So just unlock the bootloader on the G4 & root it and then put a pure android rom on it. Simples!

MicroSD is useful for media consumption. Storing music and videos mainly, not for loading apps and other time-sensitive things. When smartphones stop charging ridiculous amounts for increased internal storage, then yeah maybe it will die.

It's also worth considering the Galaxy S6 which is around this price (or cheaper).
Pros for S6
- Better display on the S6.
- Better build materials (Glass and metal vs. Plastic)
- Faster processor, more and faster memory (although it won't make a noticeable impact in reality).
- Slightly better camera (DxoMark rates the S6 slightly above the Nexus 6P which uses the same sensor: http://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles)
Pros for 5X
- Stock android (although TouchWiz isn't bad now and it actually has some very useful features)
- Will get updates faster (Should be more secure too)
- Better battery life
- 'Nexus imprint' fingerprint scanner is better than the S6 one (This may be subjective)
Actually the Motorola X Style or the LG G4 are good contenders too!
Edit: Actually there are loads more competitors in and around this price category.
The OnePlus X looks like unbelievable value for ~£200 if you can get an invite!

Knackered my 3yr old Nexus 4 last week & purchased the LG G4 that was on here on Friday
Main selling point over the Nexus 5x is the MicroSD Slot, 3GB Ram & better camera

MicroSD sucks, I wish it would die. All it does is slow down handsets and make a hassle. Get a Meenova Dash Micro and a phone such as this. You'll never look back. Best thing I did was getting rid of my Note 4 with 128GB Micro SD. Shame, as when I took out the micro SD it sped up a hell of a lot.
On a 6P now, hands down the best device I have ever encountered.

The Motorola X Style seems a better better bet for the same price (out of stock at the moment from Amazon). The Style has 3Gb RAM, micro SD storage, 21Mp camera, Turbocharging (34% in 15 mins). Nexus 5x/Moto X Style Comparison
boonkoh to mgb20

But its coming apples to oranges. The Style has a 5.7 inch screen and the Nexus 5x has a 5.2 inch screen. Hardly the same form factor.
In the same size range, the competitors are Moto X Play, Honor 7, Xperia Z3+, Xiaomi Mi4c, HTC One A9, Oneplus X, Samsung Galaxy S6.

I went to my local CPW on Wednesday and I asked them if there was a deal for PAYG upgrades. He went through deals on EE and O2 for Nexus 5X 32GB, and confirmed the 5X 32GB is £279.95 to O2 Customers only. He wasn't aware of the deal beforehand, but it is on their computer system, I saw it myself. But, you must have been a customer for at least 6 months to qualify.

CPW are NOT selling the 32GB Nexus 5X for £300 and they are NOT available on PAYG upgrade either unlike the idiot who posted that fake deal that went cold. Heck I even double checked today at CPW in White Rose shopping centre. Absolute nonsense.

seems a bit expensive but i think most are missing the point, its the only way to get guaranteed android updates.

Its the 16GB model in CPW for £299, 32GB is £349 unless you are on O2 Pre pay, then 32GB is £279.95
Just got one of these from CPW, absolutely fantastic so far.

I totally agree - quite expensive for the spec - better phones for less out there - if you really want a Nexus you can get Nexus 6 32GB for about £275 - deal was posted a few days ago....
