It went cold because it was only £20 off, even though its £60 off the play store price, also this phone costs more than a lot better phones even with the discount so while money off is always good, the phone is not worth £280.

Cracking deal, great phone with guaranteed Android upgrades and a reputable manufacturer

Decent i guess but the plasticky feel is not good and 16gb is a joke on this as it is on the baseline iPhone

Yawn 16GB is fine for many people, this is the age of streaming and the "cloud" after all. Had my Nexus 5 16GB for two years and never went near 100%
EDIT: Probably goes without saying I "liked" your comment by accident...

16GB is a complete farce. Just a marketing ploy to make phones look cheap. 6GB of this is taken in OS and formatting leaving you 10GB for apps and data. The 12MP camera is going to chomp though that fast and that's before apps, music. But you can stream from the "cloud" - true but you pay for the privilege more expensive phone contract and paying for Spotify or alternative. It's a false economy. Try stream a movie when you're on a train or overseas.
Also that tiny 16GB of NAND flash is going to suffer if you fill it anywhere near 100% performance will decay before a 2 year contract is anywhere near up.
Good price though.

Was impressed with this when I played with my mates the other day. Might swap my Z3 compact for one.

If you want different things there are better deals. But if you want a pure Android experience and at least two years of very fast updating there is no other choice. You can depreciate the phone over a longer period which significantly reduces the cost of ownership per year too. And this is by far the best deal on the product. Not a phone for everyone but a great phone for its niche market. So voting hot.

It's also the age of plastic surgery and social media but that doesn't mean anything

The LG G4 is around the same price, surely that's a better option than this?
Probably is......but not from EGlobal Central. Hong Kong trader masquerading as a UK shop......avoid!

Ahh ok.. I'll avoid them then thanks... think that price is pretty typical so there are other choices.

What 16GB of personal files do you need on a smart phone?
You going to keep a decade of e-mails or photos on your phone? Surely you would back them up to a PC or NAS drive and just keep what you need on the phone.
16GB can be filled easily if you store a lot of movies, music and TV. Or if you install lots of large apps like games. But for plenty of people 16GB is fine. I personally use my phone a lot but I have Spotify for music, Netflix for movies and my photos are backed up to Google Drive.
The deal should be voted hot/cold based on whether it's a good deal for the product, not based on whether you personally want the product. I bet you would vote hot on a deal for a tin foil hat though!

My wife has filled up her 32GB LG G2 with photos of our little ones quite adequately and remarkably quickly....me, I always want an SD Slot to chuck a big card in for music (and a little video on the go). Hence I've gone with Moto X Play deal

I have a 16gb phone and I don't have a lot of movies, music or large apps.
I have a few large files like a couple of TV episodes and a navigation app, then your usual apps and its about full.

Why does this deal end at 7.59am on black Friday? Maybe the main event is yet to come, but why would it need to replace the 5x rather than join it? The intrigue is putting me off from buying this.

To add to the intrigue...the google store is tweeting that there are some nexus goodies coming tomorrow. Any chance they'll cut the phone prices?

Negatory. And google are only discounting accessories. Guess they didn't want to outrage the early adopters, not just yet anyway.

One of the best phones of the year. Slightly over priced. £300 for the 32GB is my biting point
