There's an odd bug on the halfords website - been there for a while. The free go pack they had is still available but hidden down the results list. Even when they reduce the cameras, the packs reduce too. So you can have today's TODAY ONLY offer of the camera for £40, or you can get the camera, card and bag for the same price.
Halfords 15% discount card makes it £34, British cycling 10% £36.
Regardless, bargain for a cheapo camera. The quality is meh but it does actually do a good job of number plates.
The 202 is pointless - just a different design and quality the same.
I know I'll have arguments with the Chinese camera lot - if you want that - fine... But if you want a returns policy and a store to pick up from, this is a good deal.
(I run an itronics itb-100hd South Korean thing, had it for 4 years, and used its footage as evidence to secure a no-fault claim - everyone should have a Dashcam!)
Already expired Sam... Nice find though - I think you maybe had to have it fitted for that tho?

Nice deal. Im a strong supporter of the Chinese Dash cams but for warranty and the ability to pick up today this is an absolute steal.

How much recording time do you get with this 8GB card? I suspect you will be transferring the data to your PC very often.
HistoricDealer
22 Nov 15#7
I guess then that means with a 15% discount as well.. You could get this for £26.50.
Asim.... Not very long - couple of hours maybe, maybe even 1 hour but the idea is you only transfer when you have an 'event' - it deletes oldest recording when full

40 quid, can't find a valid voucher.
Can be had for around the same price without the 8GB card.
Decent deal but not hot for me.
I'm looking for a decent rear cam, autostart with ignition for less.

This auto starts but you'll need to wire it properly (or hope the ciggy is ignition only)

I know it autostarts with ignition, probably comes with cigarette charger but reading Amazon reviews, the charger cannot be swapped out for a 5M usb lead as it seems to incorporate a transformer or similar in the plug, a reviewer burnt out 2 by using a usb cable instead of the cigarette charger.
I've 4 way usb plug in my cigarette socket for front camera and phone. I'd want to use a 5M lead.

Got one of these, can be had on ebay for £40 last time I checked. Works well so recommended.
HistoricDealer
22 Nov 15#28
In that case I understand your worry, but it's a 5v mini usb plug. Can't speak for the reviewer but I've never had a problem - various family members run them off proper cigar plug, nextbase hard wire fuse kit and indeed a vanilla unbranded usb lead into multi usb thing
That just doesn't make any sense to me - the transformer as far as I know it to support 24v rather than 12 in hgvs.

can someone advise me please. im looking for a dashcam for the girlfriend, but she has a lease car, so we want something that just plugs into the cig lighter and fixes with say a suction cup or similar, so no trace will be left when we've done with the car. is this suitable?
or any other recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
HistoricDealer to RuudBullit
22 Nov 151#32
Yes, this is suction mounted and cigar lighter plug. But so you know... most are!
For £40, its this or chinese cameras from amazon. Chinese cameras generally offer better quality image and form factor, but reliability is meh. Good reports, bad reports.
With a dashcam ideally you want to hardwire it and forget it, but for a lease car, any camera would work great, as would this one!
I've bought 3 of these today for various people (I have the 15% off halfords card so took requests!)
