Unfortunately I don't even think you are right, for example Moto X2014 uses the same sensor as LG G2 which is highly praised (and in my experience awesome in terms of camera) and X's camera was pretty bad when it came out, now it is ok, but easily beaten by LG G2 with exactly same hardware (actually made by Sony if I am not mistaken). To summarise it comes down to software more than anything else (on mobile phones). Of course you are right that the optics matter but there is rarely that big a difference on phones in term of actual hardware...

The Moto x 2014 is faster, amoled screen, more ram, the X play has a microsd, better camera,bigger battery, newer cpu although slower is more efficient and combined with a lcd screen will give much better battery life compared the the Moto X 2014. The Samsung S5 is the same spec to the Moto x 2014 but with a microsd and bigger and better battery life for £270 on Argos too. All depends on what you want more :smiley:

In general terms, I am right. I am a photographer by trade and a good photo comes from having good quality optics more than anything else. Maybe to some extent software / processing matters in mobile phones but my point is that megapixels don't mean a thing. The only thing huge megapixels are good for is big 4k monitors or poster sized prints!

Personally I would hand a phone in, but they switched it off, so I am sure I'm not getting it back.

Of course, when you have space to put great optics in something than you are correct. But for phones they more or less all (within the category) use more or less the same sensors. Also of course optics matter, it is just that in most high end phones they don't save on this (and they all buy from a couple of suppliers, mostly sony) so it becomes a question of who has the best software.

The point that Megapixels don't matter is completely valid, but it is still correlated, no one is going to put a 42 megapixel camera in a phone if it has crap optics and software. It is just that for most phones it is not just a question of optics either. I agree that people mostly base their opinion of a camera on the number of megapixels as, well it is a number you can easily compare and most people don't even know what it means.

To conclude, I am sure you know more about this than me, I am neither a professional photographer nor am a very good one with a phone. I just change phones a lot and usually read what reviewers say about the specs and then read some interesting stuff of how it all works and which manufacturer uses what because I am interested in how it all works.

I'm thinking about getting the 32GB Moto X for £250. If someone would be kind enough to pm me a unidays code, it'll clinch the deal.

Love it Love it Love it. I used the phone only for a short while as it was updating to Marshmallow ... feels awesome to be upto date (esp since I have had a S3 since release and samsung updates are crap and slow).

Even though I used it for a short while I got used to the size pretty fast so when i went back to the S3 I started laughing at how small it was lol. Great phone with fast updates cant wait to start using it. My Mrs has the Moto X 2nd Gen so its pretty much that just a lot Bigger and Pure android ... no complaints yet apart from Motorola's Black Friday "Sales" not being much of a sale but more of a stunt lol.

i have the phone so I dont mind ... atleast it gives other the chance to own this awesome phone.

The phone had a few software updates.. and I am up to 5.1 now.. I believe 6.0 is around the corner! Very nippy and smooth.. and the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger seems to work! Bonus! :smiley:
Also contemplating if I should use it naked.. never done it before but the whole point of leather was to use it naked.. it is quite thinner than the pictures.. I am just nervous about the screen.. as there were reports of easily cracked screens when it was initially released.. might use it with a screen protector but no case as the red leather looks and feels amazing! :smiley:
