Picked this up at Vodafone Gyle Centre today. Looks like a Xmas Brochure mistake as spent ages with the Sales staff with them trying to ring it through. Anyway it was advertised as £70 with a £10 top up. The specs don't seem to add up on the price ticket as says it's a 5 megapixel camera on label but on the phone it says 13 megapixel. The phone I ended up with seemed to come up eventually as £130 but they charged me £80 in total and the phone has the 13 mega pixel camera. Worth a try if you bring Xmas Brochure as misprint in there. Some stores are honouring despite head office advice not to sell. Brochures are still around in the stores so be polite and take a chance.

The original Moto G was marketed as a budget phone with great specs for the price, but, once popularity took hold, the price increased with newer versions. The Smart Ultra 6 has taken the G`s value-for-money crown, but the plethora of Chinese alternatives are waiting to pounce.

This a mistake. However if you're lucky enough to get their new Christmas brochure instore it's listed in there at this price.
Staff have been told to honour it providing customers have the brochure.
There's hundreds of brochures in stores as they are not removing them.

Unless you're in Edinburgh she will likely have to wait longer for it at this price. Still £130 + everywhere I checked. Was actually going to get the Smart Prime and the Salesman tried to put me off the Moto G as he didn't trust Motorola to keep making phones.

I'm also looking at the Smart Prime 6 - not a bad phone for the price but the Moto G 3rd Ver. is miles better - But it should be £100/£110 not £150 like the Moto Gs before were.

Yeah I wouldn't have bought it at full price. Smart Ultra at £100 seems decent though if you don't mind the large screen. Black Friday might bring something interesting though.

22 Nov 15#23
Definitely worth the upgrade for the extra features, better build quality, larger screen, better battery life etc. Plus its waterproof which is a great bonus. They aren't removing the brochures to my knowledge so you should still be able to pick one up.

22 Nov 15#27
I would have to say not really worth it.
I have just got one and it hasn't blown me out of the water like the original one did.
I wanted the upgrade for the better camera and the micro sd slot coming from the 3G version but seeing as you have the 4g one anyway, I'm assuming you have a micro sd slot already.
I think the biggest disappointment is the screen should have been upgraded at the same time, you do notice the lack of extra pixels going to the larger screen. On a good note I suppose texting is easier.

Depends on what you are after. The SU6 is not as well built IMO and was too big for who I have in mind. Moto G is also £30 cheaper if you can get it. SU6 seems to be s good deal in its own right though and will be some peoples preference

My 1st gen Moto G had this (bought from Tesco on PAYG for £100 back in Jan this year) - very annoying. Also has an over-enthusiastic task killer process in its version of Android, which kills the overnight screen dimmer app I use. It burns your eyes out suddenly and then a few seconds later the dimmer process launches again. I'm hoping both these issues are fixed in the new Marshmallow release.

I've just got one of these 3rd gen Moto G's from the Vodafone store in Meadowhall, Sheffield, for £80 inc PAY £10.
I was going to be charged £130 until I pointed out the £70 price in the Christmas leaflet (lots of leaflets still out on display in store, btw). Then the manager argued that "Oh, that photo and price is for the old 1st gen phone", until I pointed out that I had a 1st gen Moto G in my hand which *didn't* have the horizontal microphone grille across the bottom of the handset whereas the photo in the leaflet did, hence it must be the 3rd gen phone for £70.
After a few moments and some friendly banter and conversation from me, he put it through as a manager's discretion discount.
Thanks to sales assistant Rebecca for a nice chat during all this! She said it was their last phone in stock, but it's worth visiting other stores and being polite. I did mention that I'd read other stores were putting them through for £70 for goodwill and that Head Office was aware of the printing error.
Photos of the mistake in the leaflet, my receipt and the box attached for the unbelievers.

I've just picked up the last one in Nuneaton for the brochure price. Had no arguments from the staff, he said it was a printing error and it was the last in stock so honoured it. Quick unlock code from eBay now and I'm ready to go! Love these handsets so thanks to the original poster xxxx

No luck here. I was told it was a pricing error and they had a communication advising staff not to honour the lower price even if the xmas brochure was presented (he actually showed me the communication on their screen), which I did when they tried to charge me £130.
I think that's illegal isn't it? Anyway, didn't get anywhere, about to fire off a complaint when I get back

Re the unlock codes from eBay, how do they work ? Can I just use the Vodafone Sim until the £10 credit used up or am I best unlocking it before any SIM card inserted. Never done this before. Happy to use Vodafone for a short while rather than waste the credit. Glad others have managed to benefit from the mispriciing.

Thanks OP....have some heat! Picked up 2 this afternoon. I was expecting hassle so firstly I asked if they had any in stock so I wouldn't get fobbed off! When it was rung up at £130, I queried the price and the sales assistant said this was the 4G version, so that's when I produced the brochure and said yes, that's what it says in the brochure. She just said no problem, I'll reduce to £70 and add the £10 top up so I just politely asked for a second one and she said sure! £160 for the 2 Moto 3rd Gen 4G phones with 2 x £10 top ups.......Result!

Quite a few people now been successful with this. As someone pointed out earlier, politeness is helpful. The shops are not obliged to sell at the reduced price. Ask for one and query when they ask for full price at the till. No point in getting annoyed or upset with the store staff about refusal. That will make them less likely to sell. anyway Xmas brochures still out there and valid so there is always a chance.

Just thought I would relate my experience when I got one of these for a Christmas present.
We were on the lookout for this phone and I'd seen that Vodafone had had them on sale for £99, though the current price showed £130; thought it might be worth checking in store on the off chance. While I was waiting in the store I spotted the brochure and flicking through it I saw the £70 price, which didn't seem to make sense to me so I waited to be served and asked the store manager about it. She said they didn't have any in stock, and it was a misprint, but that if they had had any in she would've sold me one for the advertised price. She said they didn't know whether they would be getting any more in but that they were getting daily deliveries so to keep checking every day. (This was on Sunday the 20th.)
On the Monday morning I went back to the store. The manager I spoke to the previous day wasn't in but the assistant manager was. I showed him the brochure (which was still on the shelf), he said they did have stock but that he would have to check with head office as giving a £60 discount on the phone would raise some eyebrows. He rang me back a bit later and told me head office claimed the brochure had been issued too early and was not supposed to be put out until the 24th; clearly wrong as the cover stated November-December and some of the terms in the back expired on the 24th. He did say though that he would be able to honour the price, but not until the 24th, as that was when the price was to change; he promised to reserve one for me and would sell it to me for £70 regardless of the actual sale price.
Sure enough when I went back in to store on Christmas Eve there was a phone waiting for me and he processed the sale at £80 (£70 + £10 top up). Processing a £19 discount was a lot easier to authorise than £60 which was fair enough. He did ask for the brochure back.
TL;DR version- if you can find a store with the brochure still on display, there's a good chance of getting one for £80; I think £99 is still a good price for it but every little helps!

If anyone wants one but can't get one in-store, PM me. I'm considering taking mine back for refund, as it doesn't seem worth even the mistake £80 compared to my 1st gen Moto G. I'm in the M1 J36 area.
