Bought a beef joint from Wickersley, Rotherham last week and after cooking it...had to take it back. Poor quality and tough as old boots. Stopped buying from them now as both Morrisons and Asda meat lack quality! Asda recently admitted to me they didn't know the age of the cattle being slaughtered for their joints? Local butchers for me thatknow where produce is sourced.

Ah. The 'local butcher' line. All butchers/supermarkets could track a joint back to source if they had the time/inclination. Just because your 'local butcher' bought his meat from old Charlie that's been farming for 200 years in the bottom field at the edge of the village doesn't guarantee quality. The 'local butcher' is great IF you have one and IF he sells quality meat. And why were you buying meat from Asda and Morrisons if you have a 'local butcher'?

Leg was £2 per kg at Morrisons a few weeks ago...now that was a deal. Even the in store butcher told me he hadn't seen leg at that price in ages....

It's this price every other week. Not exactly a deal when the shoulder and leg basically take turns to be on offer.

Heat added for that "crackling" pun if nothing else

Thanks for that. I don't even like crackling, so the fat/rind gets stripped off and mixed with oats for bird food.

Shoulder was £2/kg last weekend. Love Morrisons for the meat deals!
