They briefly sold out of the White, seems they now have more. Still not sure why the date is 12th Dec, afaik they are officially on sale from tomorrow?

Have you got NUS Extra as well? I'm not sure what gave me the discount.

Hmm nice to see flagship windows phones but a quick Google reveals the platform still not on par with android. No app for my bank and a lot of standard apps have problems. Shame

You need to be an Amazon Student member, not just NUS Extra. It does work though - I've got one on pre-order at £441.74

Don't think anyone is 100% on if it will or won't. Heard that it doesn't matter where it's bought. You open the app on the new phone, this fires something through to MS. They then send you an email with a discount code so that when you buy a dock at full price from the MS website, it knocks the price down to £0.
Shall wait a few days and see what success people get with this.

I have a 640XL dual sim version and I have to say the implementation is excellent.
Like many people I have a work contract that does not include a data package from O2 and I have a personal 3 4G plan sim in the phone and the whole thing just works.
I am very impressed.

Dual sims both work at the same time, but only 1 can be set for data useage.
I'd rather the 1 sim version as there has to be some sacrifice for having 2 - battery power maybe? For a business user i can see it being very handy!

Correct, one is set as default for data. As for battery impact, I'd expect a little but only a little. With ALL other 'non-phone' services turned off, you'll find even a modern smart phone can last days on standby without use. So I'd only expect the 2nd calls-only sim to have a very minor impact, given that we charge phones every day or at most two, anyway.

i wonder how internet works? ie incoming calls are a different proposition to surfing the net.
im in the same boat. 2 phones (1 for work)

My understanding is two sims active at once... two separate and active lines, which means I can carry one less phone (work and personal...self employed;) ). Huge bonus to me.

I'm less bothered about dual sim and if I'm honest, concerned that having 2 sims could actually affect the phones reception and performance. I take it you have to switch from one sime to the other by rebooting and not a case of 2 active sims at once?

Apparently, My understanding is that continuum will also work over Miracast, so if I need to use it for some reason, I can just plug in the MS adapter I've already got, hence I'm less concerned with the dock...

That was my thought also. £40 more is a fair bit. BTW the dock is 100 Euros so not to be sniffed at. Decisions decisions!

I'm looking at the 950, which is prices at 599 euros, which equate to about 430, but as I say, I specifically want the dual sim model, which I can't buy over here...!
the xl is 699 euros which is (dashes off to bing...) just under 500 quid. So yeah, I suppose the price is higher for that...
As above, I'd expect amazon to be included in the free offers, but no guarantees... You could always order and cancel if needed.
Myself, I'm less bothered. The dock would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Looks like the Mozo cases are going to be hard to find - think they may have underestimated demand!! Typical MS launch.....

French MS are offering a free wireless charger as well as the dock! Be nice if UK MS did the same - though still rather pay £465 from Amazon than £530 from MS

Price from France is quite a bit more - or are you talking from Amazon France. A mate of mine mentioned the Muzo case - but I cant see that there.

Seems nuts they dont spell out which version or if it comes with a dock.

The clear inference so far is that UK models will be single sim. I can't remember where, but I saw someone had posted a question at MS chat and they said dual sim models may follow later, but initially single sim. I personally, would take little confidence in that answer as fact. They just erecite what they are told, it's still possible that that left hand and right hand don't share any kind of meaningful relationship.
If I remember correctly, MS france store lists both single and dual sim models, but also bizarrely, at the same price...!
It's a bit of suck it and see.
Yes, all models have QI charging, and if you buy the official Muzo covers, they also come with qi charging built in.
IIRC, the XL variant in the UK does offer the free continuum dock, but not the 950, which is my preferred model. Still tempted to order from France, as they are shipping theirs today/tomorrow... would probably arrive on Monday...
Not all are dual sim, so depends which version Amazon have. Those in the Usa have just started receiving theirs direct from MS, and they have been dual sim - something they weren't expecting. So may have to be a wait and see!!
All 950 and 950xl's have QI wireless charging. The display dock is obtained via an app on the 950xl. Open the app and respond, MS send and email with instructions on how to claim the free dock. Still not clear if Amazon is a preferred retailer and part of this deal - i would have thought so, as they are on the MS website as a reseller for the phone.

I really need to see one of these in the flesh before I decide between this and the 950...
And what's going on with the release dates anyway? Amazon say 12th, I thought it was meant to be 3rd?
Anyway, I'm ordering the dual sim from MS Store France, which makes it even MORE important that I get to see the size before I order... and they release it next week apparently...!

I'm confused now!
Are there different 950XL variants? Are they not all dual sim? Also, nothing specific on amazom mentioning QI charging though they are selling a QI case, which i assumne is something similar to what I have on a samsung phone that adds QI charging capabilities. Anyone know for sure?
And does this come with the continuum device or not? No mention on Amazon but the user comments suggesting it does. Its a bit of a deal maker or break to have these things!

Oh, and if anyone's got a pre-order with Carphone Warehouse from the old deal I posted a week or so ago, they've changed their expected delivery date from 3rd December to 8th December, but not notified anyone. Also, they charge your card in full at pre-order stage. I'm currently having a major row with them, as they're telling me it can take 14 days for them to refund my money. And their managers never call back.
