Might have to stock up again (shame my wife does not work at Tesco anymore for the 10% discount :disappointed: ).
Thanks.

Currently £4.89 add-on item for 1 KG in Amazon lightning deals if anyone interested.
Should be easy to beat £4.89 but the price of this stuff does tend to fluctuate.

I've been using this for years. Usually by buying the 1kg tubs but this is cheaper for the weight.
It is fantastic that it has no added sugar, salt or palm oil. I hate that those things are all added to most supermarket PB as it turns it from a health food to absolute junk. The stupid thing is it still tastes great like this without everything added. The only downside is it isn't stable. The oil will separate to the top so you have to stir it all the time.
If you're used to the sugary garbage most brands are it may taste slightly bland at first but it just takes getting used to. It's also great to use in things. My porridge gets a spoon of it mixed in and also in smoothies.

Cadbury use palm oil (labelled as "vegetable fat") in their chocolate in the UK these days which is part of the reason it doesn't taste as good as it used to. The only reason they use it is that it's cheap. In NZ there was a consumer boycott of Cadbury when they introduced palm oil because of the orangutan issue and they had to go back to using dairy products. Cadbury uk are owned by Kraft USA and couldn't care less.

I'd have this with an apple so the juices give it a better consistency making it taste amazing. Give this brands almond butter or even better cashew butter a try, I guarantee you''ll love it

Regarding Palm Oil, it's not the health effects that are a good reason to avoid it. Palm oil production is causing deforestation and is threatening extinction to the orang-utans and Sumatran Tigers.

can't be wasting time cleaning a spoon, I just empty the jar using celery!

I bought 4 when it was on offer for a pound. It's quite runny the oil needs stirring in, but even so it is not as 'set' as Whole Earth, probably no a problem if you're going to spread it on your toast, but if you eat it by the teaspoon like my wife does, it's a problem!

Not 100% peanuts
Peanuts are high in good fats and protein. 100g of it isn't even a quarter of an average mans daily calorie requirements.
Palm oil isn't much better than trans fats, it's linked with insulin resistance and inflammation, sugar then compounds those two issues.
Ok I'm not saying that having a bit of common or garden peanut butter is going to give you heart disease or diabetes on it's own, but palm oil and sucrose are just empty calories and then with the added salt it's just ingredients which have negative health effects added because people are conditioned to like the taste.
Cutting them out you soon adapt your tastes to the point now that anything other than 100% peanut butter tastes like junk to me.

"Full of palm oil, salt and sugar" thus causing "heart disease and diabetes" is a huge over reation.
Look at Tesco's bog standard peanut butter with added sugar, salt and oil, hardly going to be a problem:
per 15g tablespoon.
Salt - 0.1g
Sugar - 0.3g
Saturates - 1.6g
Peanut butter is very high in fat and thus calories so you shouldn't be eating much of it anyway so eat whichever one you enjoy. Some people prefer this, others prefer the small additions such as oil to make it tastier and easier to use.

This works out cheaper than whole earth at the moment a 454g costs £3.19, I used to eat whole earth butter before I switched to meridian 2 years ago, always have this stuff around wether it's from tesco offers or Holland and Barratt but one get one half price
ashraf86uk
22 Nov 151#19
That's cos whole earth is 97% peanuts and has added palm oil and salt

Oh if you also like marmite try my creation of little bit of marmite spread on butter toast then meridian on top of that.

Nice! I might give that a go, I normally have my peanut butter sandwich with a bit of Wilkins and sons blackcurrant conserve, it's the bomb!

Proper 100% peanut butter all tastes the same in my experience, is there a better one you can suggest or are you comparing with the heart disease and diabetes waiting to happen junk most brands sell which is full of palm oil, salt and sugar?

one of the best tasting peanut butters ever. The only complain I can have about this is that it is scarily addictive. Hot

Have you tried any other peanut butter brand? This is quite possibly the blandest lardy peanut butter I've ever had the misfortune to taste.
