"Bangers " means there's so little meat, they can't legally call them a sausage...

Lidl "Deluxe" sausage range typically contains 87% British pork

The caramelised onion ones are horrid. They tasted of offal. I put the last two in the bin.

offal is supposed to be the tasty bit so thats a compliment or just a bit of a dim way of saying you didn't like them

Dick Emery would have been a perfect choice for the advertisement.

I see the media did a good job responsibly reporting the recent IARC announcement. Just remember the IARC aims to find the potential of something to be carcinogenic and not the relative risk involved. E.g. Cars and banana skins both cause accidents but it's pretty obvious a car accident is likely do to more damage.
Just think processed meat is now in the same category as alcohol, sunlight and being a painter. Other things declared possibly carcinogenic include grapefruit juice, coffee and aloe vera. Ban Starbucks now! :stuck_out_tongue:

Do they have nitrate preservatives in them? If they do then don't buy them. Harmful

Really?
I would be more concerned about the pork meat content - which so far has been excellent (87%) in Lidl Deluxe sausages

Duchy Originals don't use nitrates neither do Waitrose nor do Morrisons butcher's shop made. They all use sodium meta bisulphate. Better quality ones like M&S too!

Even Richmond brand have taken out nitrates and now use E224 sodium meta bisulphate preservative instead.

Morrison's latest offer for their M Signature Thick Pork & Caramelised Onion Sausages 6 x 66g @£2 = Pork (80%) (Pork Shoulder, Pork Belly),
I think I'll take the risk with the Lidl 87% British pork meat content ones - as I'm more concerned about the cost and quality of the meat content
It's a SAUSAGE!

Not Morrison's signature ones as these are prepackaged. The butcher hand made ones I meant.

Signature ones use nitrates but I am not sure. The great British sausage awards in the Northern food awards don't allow the use of fillers or preservatives so no shop sausage would win! Simply sausages. In Soho , London in Berwick Street made their preservative free sausages daily and had an end of day sale. They closed in about 2005 due to exhorbitant rates in Westminster putting out of business independents so only chains can survive , great shame.
