Think this is one of the best around for the price? Might get it for myself. If anyone could recommend a good sim only 4g deal to go with this that would be appreciated
I own a Z3, G4 & S6. My Z3 is usually my daily driver as I dont take that many photos and it feels faster (marginally than G4) but for me the real deciding factor is battery life which the Z3 leagues ahead in my case. Plus it's waterpoof & I have young children so that's a bonus. Having said all that there really isn't a lot in it between the 2 in terms of which I like best but the Z3 probably pips it. Others features may swing it the otherway for you. i.e. price, camera (Z3 cant touch it) 32Gb storage to Z3 16Gb, QHD screen vs HD etc. Either way my S6 comes in a distant last. YMMV

Yeah, I'm gonna leave mine with the stock ROM, I love Cyanogen but not on a brand new phone... I'm actually upgrading from an ancient GT-1850 with Cyanogen so this phone seems pretty damn awesome, even on stock.
I'm fairly sure that the official Marshmallow updates with follow within the next month or so.

I don't know about the G4 but on my G2 the camera was rubbish quality with the Cyanogenmod ROM, excellent with the stock ROM. Apparently the custom ROMs don't have access to some LG camera files or whatever to make the camera same quality. Installing apps from the Play Store didn't help either. It was a put off from otherwise great ROM.

I am waiting for the LG V10 to be available. It's going to be a much more stylish and durable phone with a premium metal body and a bigger screen. I absolutely can't wait

That thing is a monster, the main problems with it that I've read in reviews are the size of it and how rugged it is. The cameras are really decent on it. It's a G4 on Steroids, real shame it's on Lollipop which is a heap of crap. Then again so is my S6, my S6 is decent hardware waiting for a decent OS. Hopefully Marshmallow is just that.

Likewise, I was planning to upgrade from my G2 to the G4 around Feb next year, but now I've seen the V10 (which could be the G5 in Europe) I'm going to wait for that instead.

Saw the V10 while I was in Hong Kong last week. The phone was switched off so I didn't get to play with it properly, though it does feel more substantial (i.e. weighty and more premium) than the G4. I don't like the G4's leather back at all as I think it feels cheap, but I do like the rubber back on V10 a lot.
It is a big phone though - and when I compared it side by side with a Note 5, the V10 is bigger in every dimension. Shame as otherwise I would have bought the phone as the price was quite reasonable at $5698 HK dollars (approx £474).

They're redeveloping Marshmallow for the G4 due to issues when they released it onto the G4 last month in Poland I think.

Just spoke to a mate who bought the 5X last week, he's decided to return it. He found that the 2GB memory was a real bottleneck, the camera lag was also an annoyance.
I'm finding that 2GB is a limitation on my Nexus 5, used to be OK but apps are now bloated an often need to reload.

Worth mentioning that the non-leather versions are available for £299.99 - which I think I'd prefer. I'm umming and ahhrring between this, Nexus 5X and Galaxy S6. I don't fancy a screen bigger than 5.5".

I had the same dilemma but I bought the LG G4 and haven't looked back since! I crossed off the S6 due to cost, and was down to the G4 and 5X - My manager at work has the 5X and loves it, but if it's size you're worried about, you should note that the 5X is almost identical in height, just a tad narrower and thinner. The G4 has the following perks - 2560 x 1440p screen, Micro SD card slot, removable battery, and an utterly incredible camera. And at £50 less than the cheapest 5X, it was a steal.

I got a G4 about 4 weeks ago (Chinese import £279 Black leather) and it was an August 2015 build date. There is only a couple of LG apps that were useless and were actually uninstallable. So short answer no bloat.
Battery life is amazing. Speed is streets ahead of my old S4 too and I thought that was reasonably nippy.
Very happy user.

I own a G4 and a 6S. The G4 lacks a premium feel for sure, even with the leather back. That tacky fake metal edge really ruins its look and feel. It's really soft and scratchable and remind me of Samsung devices up until the S6.
The UI is smooth but I feel it looks a bit childish. I don't like the overall design of the interface and feel it could do with some polish - for example I think HTC have a real eye for detail and polish, even with their choice of fonts. The S6 and Touchwiz is better than LG's UI, even though I dislike Samsung's interface too. All the fonts available on LG's store are vile, childish rubbish and even the notification area looks amateur and poorly-conceived in terms of its choice of colours and layout.
The camera is fantastic on the G4 - leagues ahead of my 6S. It's fast, soaks in plenty of light for low light shots and is capable of some truly stunning images when you master manual settings. You can even shoot in RAW and edit the DNG directly with Snapseed (Google's free app). There are one or two stupid camera UI quirks - such as video settings being hidden in the icon that says '16:9' but overall you can't fault the camera.
Overall I'd say that if you're not too bothered about having a snazzy interface - or don't mind half-hiding LG's work with a third-party launcher, and don't care if your handset feels a little bit cheap in the hand, you can't go wrong with the G4 for the money. The screen is lovely, it isn't *too* big (though I wish it were G3 sized) and it is probably the best camera on the market.
My only other complaint would be that I'm starting to get used to fingerprint sensors so I miss that feature on the G4. I wonder if it will hobble full Android Pay support in future too, as I'm not sure of the requirements for full support in Android. Not only that but it speeds up unlocking, since Android still has the stupid system where you have to hit 'enter' after you've put your PIN in.

Bought the grey G4 from amazon recently - its fantastic. Battery is MUCH better than my old Nexus 4 - usually has about 40% or more left at bedtime with moderate usage (mostly browsing)
I got the plastic back one, as I figured I'd have to replace the back anyway for a quickcircle case (which adds QI wireless charging) If you're not going to have a case, or you're just going for a case that surrounds the whole phone the leather one would be nicer (I'm still vaugely thinking of buying a leather back myself)
Screen and Camera are top notch. IR blaster is a nice extra. double-tap to wake is really handy too!
Its a little larger that my ideal phone size, but I'm living with it fine (my other option - the nexus 5X felt like too much of a compromise with 2GB RAM, and no SD expansion. I ruled out the galaxy S6 when I heard about its battery life issues)
Overall really pleased with it! If you're looking for a top notch phone in this price bracket I don't think there's a better choice!

I must admit, I was a little dubious about getting the G4. I needn't have worried, it's fantastic. The screen is amazing, the camera is on another level and the battery is lasting at least half a day longer than my Oneplus One. You can disable most of LG's stuff/bloat (which is much lighter than I was led to believe reading all the guff online), even though mine is still as it came out of the box it's lightening quick, never lags or stutters. I have the brown leather version, and I love that you can just swap out the back, battery and SD. My only slight negative is that it's lacking that 'premium' feel, it looks great but is a bit light, and the 'metalised' plastic around the edge is no match for a real metal frame.

I bought the metallic grey version for £299 a week ago and I have to say it's one impressive phone!
32GB of internal memory for the bigger and bigger app's coming out these days is a must, with a micro SD card slot for keeping your photos/videos/music on.
Amazing screen (not sure I can tell the difference between this and a 1080p screen with my naked eye but it's certainly pin-sharp!) and the camera is one of the best I've used in a phone!
The only thing I wasn't sure about was the battery life with it having to power a QHD screen but even that has surpassed my expectations!
Takes a bit of getting used to the controls being on the back of the phone but even after a week it feels like second nature already!

I don't have a G4 to compare with so you could be right in general. It will be a software issue between them, as soon as marshmallow is out, I'm going to custom ROM, and then it will run at lightspeed and the battery life will be better too. I can do without EE's wifi calling and HD calls.

LG G4 has 3GB RAM same as the S6. The S6 has easily the fastest chipset on any Android phone and the fastest I/O storage and also the best LCD. The G4 has a crippled chipset the Snapdragon 808 because the 810 at the time was an overheating mess.
Overall the S6 swung it for me, however the battery life is dismal. The Nexus 5X is inferior to both phones, its only trump card is that it gets the latest Android before any other non Nexus phone and will likely keep getting updates long after the other two have stopped.
