The type of 3D the tv has. Passive is like what you get in the cinema.

I prefer the Web os to android... If you want Android get a sheild. But the Sony does look like good value..

I think passive 3D is much nicer on the eyes, I have an LG 1080p passive 3D tv and an Optoma 3D active projector and the LG is much more comfortable to watch 3D. The only problem with passive 3D is that you lose half the resolution due to the fact there are 2 polarised pictures being displayed.
This problem is effectively overcome here as full HD 3D can be displayed in full HD (1080p) on a 4k set due to the increased resolution, so this seems a great deal if you like 3D; If you don't like 3D I think there is an LG one (55") at Richer Sounds for £100 less......

I have been hearing this a lot about Sony and Android. Why exactly is android so bad on Sony's? I love android on my phone and tablet...
Its not up to the job, ends up becoming very laggy and promised features like YouView and recording are still nowhere to be seen.
JollyEngland

But will it be sorted out eventually with new updates, etc? I don't mind buying a Sony now if the android will be sorted out in a few months...

The recording side of things is already looking dodgy that it's ever going to appear now so I wouldn't hold my breath that the current sets will ever be made right with Android TV tbh. Seems there's limitations and how they have done them.
Cannot fault LG's WebOS tho that this TV runs and if you really want Android TV then buy a NVidia Sheild TV which has all the grunt Android TV will need for the next few years worth of updates assuming NVidia supports them.

Brook have you got one? Used one with the latest update and actually done any research on it to make your argument valid?
4th Nov it goes live. If you choose to have YV the usb recording will be disabled. You'd have to choose one or the other.
Usb is pointless in this instant anyway as you will be able to stream/catch up with the program.
It's only use would be to record what you're watching or set it to a timer to record. No one does that anymore. With all this catch up now. It's time to move on.
Jolly go into a store and try one out and compare them you'd be amazed at how well the Sony does I regards to picture quality and ease of use...

they said that about LED and they were in most peoples homes within 10 months off the first sets hitting the stores...
Naturally, some people who already have LED ones will be a tad upset at having old tech when OLEDs come down in price in a matter of months

Yes I tried one, mate has one. Seems to speed up with every update them end up slow and laggy.
Btw YouView DOESN'T allow you to catch up on everything, only the supported channels - I know, I have 3 YouView boxes!

Let's elaborate on this then shall we.
LCD took over 15 years from 1st hitting the market in little Casio portable TV's to achieving a realistic mass market price for a (then) large screen TV of 32"
LED isn't a new screen technology, it is only the adoption of LED back lighting instead of the older fluorescent bulbs. OLED is proving VERY difficult to mass manufacter especially in large screens, indeed only LG seem to be getting on top of the technology and by the fact they pretty much have the market to themselves in semi affordable (ie not millionaires markets) screens they are under no pressure to cut margins to pile em high n sell em cheap!
Let me put it this way, if someone produces a 55" OLED TV for a sub £1k price as well featured as this set within the next few months I will personally but you one myself!

Also bare in mind licencing blocks some films and sports from catch up too.
I hope it does finally fix the sets tho, might stop my mate moaning about it for a bit....
