I fell for this last time (about a month ago). When I picked them up from store, I checked them immediately and handed them straight back. They're a joke, made out of some thin synthetic material lol. You'd be a laughing stock walking down the street in these. They've (501s) got all the Levi badging, but the material put me in mind of that horrible thin material that women's "jeggings" are made of, or a cross between that and the stuff that football shirts are made of. They're revolting. I lost the argument with Sports Direct for a refund, had to accept a credit note, which thankfully my son was able to use. There's nothing in there that I would want to risk...

Bought 2 pairs of 511 chinos for £16 each and collected today. Extremely happy with purchase as they are my favourite jeans I bought a pair from debenhams earlier this year for £70 and they are exactly the same, definitely not duds. The material is thinner than the usual jeans, for the better in my opinion. If you want thicker jeans stick to 501s

There's an interesting post on Reddit about Levi jeans quality, in summary Levi's quality control is terrible and you should always buy in-store, because no matter which store you buy from there are going to be some duds in the stock.
I would speculate that Sports Direct pick up the stock that another trader simply couldn't shift so there's naturally more duds in their stock. I got two pairs from this sale myself, they are worth the price paid but no more. The fit is right but the denim isn't as good quality as the jeans I have from for instance a Debenhams own brand but that's perhaps perception after reading six pages of people bad mouthing them, it's the wear that makes a good pair of jeans so we'll see.

Perhaps they are imported and lower grade ones destined for other markets? Would doubt they are fake as such and indeed even products made for outlet vents are often a lower grade

They aren't fake just terrible quality and not the same quality of 501s. I picked up three pairs today brought home and checked against my others. Such a huge difference in quality it's shocking, they aren't even half the thickness, don't really feel like denim and they look so cheap with the stitching. I will be returning this week. Incredible Levi have let this happen.

Well just returned my 3 jeans to store as they were faulty, they refunded the items but not the original postage. So I called customer services on 0344 245 9230 and explained that under distance selling regulations they were obliged to refund the original postage for faulty items, which to there credit they did with the minimal of fuss.

The 501's are fine and 100% genuine. For those complaining about the quality, go into a Levi's store and examine the same item. I agree that the thickness of denim has certainly reduced over the years...ah, for the good old days......

I got a pair of 514 and 511's, never had a pair of 514's before, but they seem good quality, the 511's are on par with the ones I bought last year from John Lewis in there sale, maybe I was just lucky, or unlucky that the John Lewis pair was also lower quality? but at £16 a pair I cant complain.

I bought a pair of 501s from Sports Direct last time this deal was on and they're fine. Material is regular denim and the fit is good. Bought a pair of 514s from Winners (TK Maxx) on a recent trip to Canada and the quality of those is inferior to the Sports Direct 501s.

Whats more surprising is that people still wear jeans, they are unattractive, unsightly, uncomfortable, and outdated, do yourselves a favour and either buy some Voi Vobar/ibaraki/Renmarks and I promise you you'll never go back to jeans, but only wish you had stopped wearing them sooner, and I'm not taking the ****, I was the same until I bought a pair of Vobars.
Not sure why people moan so much? What do you expect for £16 really?

The fitting is a bit all over the place for the jeans either a size up or down however the chinos are a good fit and true to their size
Hope this helps people. Think these are the same as the ones being sold in tk max

People seem to be falling for the gift voucher trick though. I can't think off the top of my head of any other retailer who charges to deliver to store, Sports Direct refunding the postage in the form of a voucher isn't a gift, it their way of ensuring you go back "to get your money's worth" as people I know would.

A toblerone bar from a poundshop is still a toblerone.
Its just that you get less toblerone because the manufacturers make them specially for poundshops.
You can't take it back and say that you were expecting a bigger bar.
These items are jeans/chinos.
They are made by Levis.
That's all you are buying.
Its a shame that trusted brands will do this and still expect to retain the trust of their customers.

What you guys have to bear in mind is the sheer volume of jeans that Levi's produces to be sold in its own stores as well as other stores. As a result, they have many different factories around the world which produce jeans of varying quality. Even jeans made in the same factory, from the same roll of material vary greatly in quality and cut.
Undoubtedly, these Levi's jeans supplied to Sports Direct are of lower quality to jeans from the official store, and that is reflected in the price.

30 Oct 15#61
I doubt these are non-genuine. Quite likely therefore to be a cheaper b-grade version. The problem for me is that they are using the same labels (501, 511 etc) as the more expensive decent Levis. Is there some kind of product code that separates the high quality from the lower ones? Pretty **** practice from Levis making it so confusing as to what product you are actually looking at!
mchu6am4
30 Oct 15#60
I didn't say or imply that they not genuine but there's definitely difference in the quality.... Maybe sports d have struck a deal to stick levis badge for a fixed fee... I've no idea but all I can say is the quality is not the same...

Mike Ashley has bought a number of 'brand' names and then switched suppliers to provide what many people consider to be inferior quality goods.
