The whole process is basically elimination, or at least to start with ascertaining if they are child characters or adult character. Each bag obviously has the oblong stand you have to eliminate out of the equation, then you need to feel for the other pieces...shake the bags up, feel for each piece and with your fingers move them to the sides of the bag so you can squeeze the foil around them to try and ascertain what they are.
Apart from Maggie whom is solid bodied, each bag will have a seperate body and leg torso, the adult characters have bendable legs, and you can feel that in the bag, the children have static legs.....that narrows it down straight away
Right, first familarise yourself with the tick off sheet....
As can be seen 6 characters have 2x2 tiles, 1 - Homer, 7 - Comic Book Guy, 11 - Selma, 14 - Mrs Krabbaple, 15 - Smithers, 16 - Dr Hibbert
By feeling the bags, ascertaining there to be a 2x2 tile in there, you know for certain it is going to be one of these 6 characters.....
The easiest one to ascertain is 15 - Smithers, he has two 2x2 tiles doubled up to make his accessory, the Malibou Stacy doll box, also if u isolate his head in the bag it has a flat top.
Homer or Dr Hibbert, the hardest of the bunch, you will feel they have very similar shaped heads and no other accessory in the bag. After isolating the head in the foil you will feel the ridges of the ears, both the same...it literally is a matter of feeling if you can notice bobbles on the head (do not confuse with Patty or Selma they have far rounder heads). If it has bobbles, you have Hibbert....otherwise it is Homer.
Comic Book Guy and Mrs Krabbaple.....both these have 2x2 tile and an accessory (the only two characters in the set with 2x2 tiles that do have accessories) so therefore if u feel an accessory in the bag, isolate it. U can feel the straw 'nub' of comic book guys frappuccino. You can also feel the cylindrical cup of Mrs Krabbaple and the prominence of her hair by feeling her head. Just be sure if you feel the cup you are not confusing with 6 - Milhouse who will have short legs.
Last of the 6 2x2 tile characters is Selma, easily identified by a 2x2 tile in the bag and the rounded bobble head, very easy bag I find.
This leads us onto Patty, you will obviously not feel a 2x2 tile, but rounded bobble head and isolate the purse accessory, just make sure it is not marge who has a very different head.......
Marge, very easy, bobble head of a very cylindrical long shape, the longest head in the set, very easy to feel for.
Bart, his head has ridges that can be easily felt....however it is difficult (have to really feel the bag) to find his accessory as it is a small catapult, once you have found it though it is easy to tell it is his Y shaped catapult and that you have him.
Milhouse, the only character with short legs and a cup, quite easy to identify. Isolate the head you should also be able to feel the ridge of his nose.
Martin Prince - His book in the bag is a big giveaway once you have isolated it, it unclips open and being a large rectangle has a dipped 'ridge' where the book opens. Just make sure you are not confusing it with the much smaller rectangle of Moleman.....
Moleman, the small rectangle block in the bag is a dead giveaway, it is hollowed out at the back, easy to spot. Head is small and lips prominent too.
Professor Fink - Once isolated his accessory you will feel the stem of the conical flask has a prominent ridge to it, also his tall head is quite distinctive. I found his accessory to be the easy identification.
Groundskeeper Willie....his accessory by far is his giveaway, you can feel the rod and the sponginess of the rubber in the bag, his plunger is easy to identify.
And finally Maggie and Lisa, the only solid character body in the set, both her and Lisa if you isolate the head will have the ridges of hair 'spikes' you should be able to make out the legs of the dog Santas Little Helper, otherwise chances are it is going to be Lisa instead with far blockier cat, you should be able to feel for the tail of the cat.
The last comment here is a little ambiguous because obviously as stated I was missing Lisa from my set, but should be fairly easy to distinguish between the two characters.
Happy hunting, and bag feeling.....it really is worth giving it a go due to Argos return policy with them remaining unopened.

Obviously with most Argos stores not allowing you to dip, feel and buy it may be best to buy in bulk. No guarantees you will get the full set but the more you buy the greater the chances. With the first series of these we literally stood in Tesco (a few visits buying 4 or 5 at a time) and did the blind bag feel and fortunately managed to buy all 16 without any duplicates.
This time around, we really wanted to take the time in the comfort of our home to be able to do the blind bag test....the main reason for not wanting to open any bag before being sure of the character is so we can return them to Argos under their 30 day exchange (although that is extended over Xmas so you actually have until January to return these) as these are not exempt, obviously if the packs are still sealed.
We bought 30 of these blighters, and were very fortunate to have 15 out of the 16 characters out of the 30 bags. Thanks to Funkoid on here, we were able to do a swap with one of the spares before returning the rest to get the last remaining character (Lisa/Snowball).
This is just a preamble before my next post which will be a blind bag feel guide, it is difficult at first until you do get a feel for it...after the last batch a year ago we were both rusty in the process but you soon become accustomed to feeling for the pieces, which then becomes a process of elimination.
We found that you could not rely on the bump codes, admittedly some of our duplicates I notice had the same bump code but not all, so it is far from reliable. The only real way to be sure is to feel the bags, and better if you are unsure if there is more than one of you doing the process.
My next post will be lengthy, so will take a while, but will be my own thoughts on blind bag feeling.

This offer from Argos is *****t just went to collect my reservation of 10 n asked the Argos pune to +1 to take it over £10 n qualify for the extra pack...he pops round the back momentarily and explains that the offer only qualifies with an Argos "toy" product as in a figurine for example he wouldn't budge from protestations that this was a 'toy' ...how do you get this offer without the Argos promo rules bs?!*@#&%

You can use the bump code sheet to see if you have any double without opening them and refund them.
The bump codes change, so blind bag feeling would still be the best, and even at least keeping one spare back for swaps. I guess if you had multiple of the same figure its worth returning a few, otherwise you would be back and forwards to Argos quite a bit to complete your set!

For anyone interested in swaps, there is a website setup dedicated to lego minifgures for swapping. You enter all the noes you have swaps of, all the ones you need and it return swap options.
No, it's nothing to do with me, but yes, I can vouch for it and it works great for completing sets etc....it has them all on there.
Anyway, it's here if anyone fancies registering and trying it.... http://swap.minifiguresseries.com/login.aspx

I only need Krebapple, Hibbert, Martin and Marge's sisters..
I also need the car to get through its MOT today...
I've just spent nearly a tenner on these things.
My priorities are clearly in order.

I've just spent nearly a tenner on these things.
My priorities are clearly in order.
Also tried using the chart for the bump codes but bit if a hit and miss. The bumps are there but not coloured and not consistant with the chart. Argos even let me pick frm the box
