I
Pumpkin Crop has been bad this year due to lots of bad weather making them rot quicker. I heard this on the radio the other week, also in one of the national papers:
Mine went off too. Had it on the table and discovered it had leaked all over the table and everything else on the table. Smelt really bad too, like old socks or something. Picked up by the stalk to throw it away, terrible idea, stalk broke, it dropped and it smashed on the floor. Very pleasant.
Wasn't expecting it, have had them last months and months in the past.

The big orange pumpkins aren't the best for eating but if you want to, cut the pumpkin into wedges, drizzle with olive oil and roast on a medium oven for about 45 mins-1 hour. Then scrape the flesh from the skin and use for risotto or soup.

Good deal. However, try eating them - not mutilating.

Don't know if serious or not but carving pumpkins are not meant for human consumption

all pumpkins are edible but carving pumpkins may taste more bland as their grown for shape and size not taste!

Before carving leave them to soak in bleach/water and they'll last ages.
BTW Morrisons are much better value @50p

These pumpkins as others have said are not really for eating, oven toasted pumpkin seeds is about the best, then carve the rest.
This is probably why pumpkin pie tastes nothing like pumpkin....there is that much seasoning added to the pumpkin flesh.
