Just waiting for the YouTube videos, got a tredz email and they also had the
onguard pitbull a similiar type u lock and same price on Amazon ..
They are good for a short timespan lockup, if you leave your bike in a quiet area then it will get robbed eventually but one of these locks will stop the opportunist when you pop in a shop for a few minutes, as the scallies don't always carry car jacks, bolt cutters

The U lock can't be cut using bolt cutters right? And surely someone would notice a guy using bolt cutters in a busy place?

I think there's a few youtube videos of people cutting some of the best U locks but they used 6 foot bolt cutters and had to jump on them. Not exactly inconspicuous or means for a quick get away!

Cut your bike frame not the lock. Sell the rest for parts. All the time.

Last week I got the Onbuard bulldog from flubit for a little over £15, it would seem to offer similar levels of protection and both are sold secure silver. For a little more money the Onguard bulldog is gold rated but I decided I didn't want the extra weight.

If Superman tries to steal your bike, you should be safe.

Yes but that cape is the ideal thing to hide a pair of bolt cutters under - so beware fake Supermans I say..........
Downside is it doesn't include the one year insurance, but I've read that in order to claim that the thief must leave you the broken lock.

Having just bought an onguard lock, they do come with one years insurance but there are quite a lot of exclusions, still might as well register there isn't much downside.

Not a bad cost / weight / protection balance on these. Sure the 16mm+ U locks and even those smaller that lock on both sides (requiring two cuts), offer better protection. But most are really heavy, great if you can leave your lock at work / rail station.
that looks to be good value. i suspect a theif might take the broken bike lock if they had time - no point leaving incriminating evidence with their finger prints at the scene...

I was doing some research on the best locks and it was recommended getting Kryptonite mini or OnGuard Mini as it restricts room preventing car jacks in being successful. I would go with the OnGuard one personally since it's gold rated.

A smaller shackle can limit what you can lock your bike to though, and you could remove and use your front wheel to try to fill up any space.
One problem we used to get around here is thieves snapping off the Sheffield cycle stands. I saw some kids doing it once, unfortunately I didn't realise what they were up to until a few days later when I noticed that stand had gone.
