Found this quite by accident, and have now bought three for relatives and friends. Had no experience of retailer previously, but they have been excellent, and seem to have a great reputation. Official UK stock, saving a massive £30 over Amazon prices, so whats not to like!

Use coupon THANKYOU699 for a £6.99 reduction.

The coupon should work for you, but I have given the baseline price in case it doesn't - even at £79.99 its a steal. Hopefully this will solve some Christmas present problems for a few people.

Yes that sounds normal, no advert while reading just when you change books or turn off.

I googled how to remove Kindle ads by asking and the video shows how. Basically go to Amazon account, Kindle, ask questions, choose other questions, and the in the title to do an online chat "remove ads on my Kindle Paperwhite" and that starts the chat.... Ending in the ads being removed :-)

Hope this helps and that it works for you too!

I sent this lovely message to Amazon chat and they offered to remove the ads for me

Hi there. I recently purchased my first Kindle (paper white 2015) and it has surpassed my expectations how great it is. However. I keep getting these adverts come up on the screensaver and when I am looking through my book titles, please can you tell me if this is normal and if there is a way I can stop it? I can't find any option in settings. Thank you

mine arrived yesterday - took a week to be delivered (as indicated on the site) and it is very good..... for 30% off Amazon. It maybe that Black Friday will do something on the normal £109 but I am glad I do not have to wait :-)
I think this may also not have adverts (still to check for certain) but if this is the case that is another £10 off!
Thanks for the post, heat added

The Paperwhite did have ads but I went online and 'asked them' to remove the ads and as a 'special allowance' they took them off, so that was nice of them - thanks you Amazon.

Ordered fri 20th nov and received tues 24th nov via economy delivery, good comms from seller and amazon box factory sealed sent from uk and clearly uk model as all packaging is in english. All packaging and factory seal look absolutely authentic to me so happy I have genuine product (also plugged in and fully tested).
Am delighted as was bit disappointed when I saw black friday deals with established retailer for £7 more but can't fault product or service. If I had to buy another I would use this seller !

Got mine today. It would have been delivered on Friday but I wasn't available then. Can't really complain, good price and fairly quick delivery. The only thing I noticed is that mine had stickers on the box indicating it was destined for import and distribution in Brazil. I am yet to bother figuring out which market it came from and whether there is any kind of warranty from Amazon.

i do want kindle with good discount..
but i got 3 from amazon and had to return 2 as they died within warranty and later both died outside warranty (not good rating for kindle reliability)
as I understand, eglobal provides grey import, no warranty (lots of complains when warranty is needed)
amazon uk could provide 15% discount if you ask nicely on the helpdesk chat
so i decided to treat extra amazon price as a cost for no-hassle warranty and purchase from them ...

Fair enough. Interesting some of the posts on here about bad stories regarding this retailer. They have 80.3% 5 star ratings (and c90% 4/5 star ratings on Trustpilot, across a lot of reviews (1300+). That's an awful lot of happy customers. I can only add my own very positive feedback to that too.

That's actually significantly better than Amazon themselves (and I am a Prime customer who has place approximately 80 orders with Amazon in the last two years, and I could level plenty of very just criticism at them believe me). There is a perception that because it's a big company, it's instantly more reliable than another - the opposite is often the case. The smaller ones have to try harder.

Anyway, thanks for the comments.

Would it be classed as a grey import? Thus having a dubious warranty? I've lost my kindle and need to replace :disappointed:
violetd to m12_shakes
16 Nov 15 #44
That's what I was wondering, as a friend recently bought a new camera from them, costing around £400, and it was a grey import

Just looked up the warranty info on their site, definitely sounds like an import as warranty is with them.
Axeman to m12_shakes
16 Nov 15 #46
Hi. See my previous reply on this. Who knows what will happen when they buy any item, but if you look after it, it's highly unlikely to go wrong in 12 months anyway - If it does, I am sure the retailer will put it right. It doesn't matter who has the responsibility for the warranty, as long as it kicks in when you need it.

I don't think you'll get this cheaper elsewhere, and at this price if it lasts a couple of years it doesn't owe you anything (I'm still on the 2nd Gen Kindle and mine is 3-4 years old!).
Axeman
16 Nov 15 #45
So the 12 month warranty is with the retailer - What reason do you have to think that the item is going to break in that time, and that if it does the retailer won't honour it? As long as you can get it replaced then what is the issue here? After 12 months it doesn't matter where you got it from (and please let's not have any sale of goods act debates here please, because my point is clear), because the warranty is dead. And read Amazons own user forums for stories of Kindles dying on day 370 and being told its not their problem! Seriously, this is a Kindle Paperwhite at £73, against £110 from Amazon. What's not to like!
squidge13
16 Nov 15 2 #40
Email reply from the eglobal confirming no import charges should be incurred.

With regard to your inquiry, please be advised that we ship our orders with special logistics arrangement, therefore all you need to pay is the price listed on our website, no VAT, import fees nor any other hidden charges. Any VAT or customs duties incurred will be settled by eGlobal Central. In other words, the price you see on the website is the final price you pay for the product.

Once my transaction with them has completed I will post a comment regarding it. For more expensive or complicated items I would be concerned about not being able to claim under the warranty though, if it is indeed the case that the items they sell are intended for the Asian market.
dave80
14 Nov 15 #35
It's true. Every retailer gets bad reviews as does every item. Pick any item with a half decent number of reviews on Amazon and you will find 1 and 2 star reviews without exception. Same applies to retailers.
Axeman to dave80
14 Nov 15 #36
Thanks for that comment - You have to take a pragmatic and balanced view with these things, as you have indicated in your post. Just because you click on a review site and the first couple of reviews are bad, that does not give the bigger picture. All I can say my experience is perfect with them, and I would heartily recommend them for this item.
trudib
14 Nov 15 #33
This company ships from Hong Kong, you are responsible for any customs charges. Most reviews are terrible.

14 Nov 15 #34
Yes, there are some bad reviews, but I see as many great ones - I can only speak from my experience, with this item - having ordered three (with three separate orders), and every one arriving quickly with absolutely no issues whatsoever - I have an emphatic 100% record, hence my recommendation. You will find negative reviews for every company on Trustpilot, like any review site, so you have to take your own view. And mine did not ship from HK, nor did it attract any customs charges.
Axeman
14 Nov 15 #32
Ive ordered three - separately - and all arrived in about 4-5 days without any issues whatsoever. Not sure what 'issues' you've read about but, given some of the other melodramatic nonsense on here, I'd take them with a pinch of salt. And for those worried about supplying their payment information to this company (because all the big companies never lose our personal data do they!), you can pay via PayPal. It's a no-brainier for me, but some clearly want to pay 50% more for the exact same item to get it from Amazon or John Lewis...each to their own.

Eglobal are fine to deal with, I've bought a couple of phones from them, might take a week or so to get delivered but they provide full tracking. Haven't had to return anything yet but from reading round I don't think their aftersales is too bad either.

I was 'umming and aahing' about finally getting a Kindle - I don't NEED one but knew I would need a light-up one for reading in bed. 13 Nov 15 1 #7
I have to disagree - I was very cynical about the advert version, as a Kindle reader of many years. But it is easily ignored and doesn't affect the experience at all in my humble opinion. How something can be 'annoyingly intrusive' when it isn't even an issue when you are reading the book - The adverts do not show on the screen when you are 'in book' which (when you are reading, the two versions are identical), without wishing to be rude, is what the Kindle is for. So you see a small ad at the bottom of the screen when you are selecting your next book to read, which may take you a couple of minutes - It's easily ignored, and thats not going to be an issue for most people.

If you are purist who would find something as insignificant as this a major issue then, by all means, pay Amazon an extra £50 to have an advert free home screen. I know what I would do however...
Ammo71
13 Nov 15 #3
Hi,
when you ordered of these did the Kindle come with adverts or is it the advert free one? I did see this but wasnt sure on the company & if they were UK stock
checkley73 to Ammo71
13 Nov 15 #4
this is the version with ads, which from reading reviews appears to be annoyingly intrusive.
Axeman to Ammo71
13 Nov 15 #5
Hi - Its the one with the offers, but I cannot see the issue with these. They are only visible when you are on the home screen, not when you are reading a book - As you spend most of your time in the book itself, its a tiny price to pay for a £10 saving. The Amazon one with offers is still £109.99, so it is a like for like comparison (the one without 'Offers' is £119.99). Believe me, I didn't like the idea of this Amazon promotion but it really is so unobtrusive that I wouldn't consider paying £10 more to have without offers.

Hope this helps.
