So tempting, but I've got such a huge gaming backlog, with the likes of Fallout 4, Black Ops III and SW Battlefront to add in the next few weeks, that by the time I got round to playing JC3 it'd probably be sub £20!
Thought I'd check Rakuten to see if Base were charging a similar price to this on there to use with the 25x points but it's still £49. However, it can be bought from Rakuten / Game Collection for £39.95 with £9.75 of points returned.
Edit - that said, I don't think you'd get the 25x points on a pre-order as the window to spend them will have gone by the time this is released.

I know your pain.... Recently tried to "rush" through MGS PW HD but my game time ended up being 50-ish hours, lol... Now i have MGS: GZ, MGS V, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Black Op III, and Star Wars Battlefront [as well as ongoing Destiny: TTK conten] to contend with over the coming months... I've purposefully put this game on my 'JC's birthday' list (as well as Xenoblade Chronicles and Darksiders II DE) as it would be a "nice to have" on the day but if not it will be cheaper in the new year.
First world problems eh, lol.

People saying they get better deal for PC, I agree. No argue there at all. Let's do the math.
XBOX1
34 quid game + just cause 2 worth let say 4 quid appx? = 34-4 =30 appx...figure of speach.
You play it for around a month, enjoy it, get your trophies, sell it in a month for around 20, if you get lucky for 25.
But let say minimum 20, shall we? 34 - 20 = 14. So you payed "actually" 14 quid for the game + you have JC 2 XBOX 360.
PC
17-19 quid and you can't resell it, advantage better gfx agree + you "own" it, but again can't sell it...

Awesome price. Tempted to get on Xbone, I've really been enjoying using that console again recently, but I know it'll look visually slightly better on PS4. I just dislike using that console, UI is poor and having to charge the controller after every session (sometimes during) is irritating in a first world problem kinda way.

N1AK
6 Nov 15#70
Exactly! As a general rule I don't consider anything that can be taken away (or have your ability to use it taken away) from you legally without your permission as 'owned'. I've paid for plenty of games on Steam, and I think the odds are good of purchases lasting longer than I care that I can use them but I don't own them.
That's fine though because Steam sells them cheap, and a decent proportion of games 'sold' as physical media are unusable or heavily degraded if not on-line and connected to a server that could be switched off at any time.
Elevation
6 Nov 15#71
It's sad though that you've felt forced to do that isn't it? But I admire your principle.
xeroc
6 Nov 151#72
Even with a physical copy you don't 'own' anything. You are merely granted a licence to use the software. Any property in the game itself will remain with the rights holder.
The distinction is that with a physical copy, the terms of the licence agreement are that it is one that is transferable (i.e. it can be sold), with most digital media (whether games, or tracks bought on iTunes) there is usually no right of transfer. (See edit below: turns out this is wrong)
Edit: Saying that, I just looked at one of my PS4 discs and it states a term of the licence is that the game 'May not be resold or rented without permission from SCEE'. So... Basically, selling and buying games is obviously something that has developed as a matter of custom and is not technically legit.

You own it a hell of a lot more than Steam. Who really pays attention to the PS4 stuff anyways? I'm assuming every game at Cex is a result of written permission issued to everyone who sold them the game. :smirk:
xeroc
6 Nov 151#76
Clearly, I was approaching your comment from a strictly legalistic perspective. The legal concept of ownership is not always clear, particularly nowadays. Nobody gets permission from SCEE to resell their games to CeX, just like nobody got permission from the rights holder to rip a CD to digital before that became 'legal'.
