I have a pretty decent radio coupled with awesome speakers around the car, how complicated is it to replace just the main unit as I would really like to add bluetooth/usb functionality to my system, but would prefer to keep everything else as it is.
I know Googling would give me an answer and there are probably plenty of videos there but I would prefer a first hand experience and possibly a link to a good video if someone with experience can spare me a couple of minutes. Thanks in advance.

You have two options... 1 is cheap and easy... other is expensive and needs 15 mins of DIY...
Option 1: Have a look in my threads... I posted a thread about a bluetooth audio receiver for £2something... can plug that into 3.5mm aux in of your old stereo to make it BT compliant...
Options2: Spend money on this BT stereo or a branded one (abt £50) and replace the old unit... job is easy if U know what you're doing (how to get the stereo out, disconnect old cables, connect to new unit etc) and have the right tools

I've got one that looks almost the same as it.... Probably the same hardware with a different faceplate.
It's OK. Sounds OK. Has a few quirks that may or may not be related to dodgy Peugeot electronics. It sometimes has a madflashing attack, goes crazy and turns off. And my phones Bluetooth sometimes turns it on when I'm on even in the car.
Id avoid tbh. Save for a bit longer and spend 50. Also it gets extremely hot.

dont you mean your horse didn't have FM?

No, I totally agree. I just lament that I used to remember the frequencies of all the channels I listened to - or at least where they were on the dial. And by the same rationale, using your example. I also remember when I used to remember people's phone numbers. I can't remember anything now!

Slightly reworked VW Golf 1, it has a custom stereo and speakers built in already but the stereo is getting a bit oldish, it was decent when I bought it, I was looking for aux in for it but never found one... Now that I say it I should have Googled that at least.
Thanks for the advice, I most likely have the right tools but no skill to use them. I might give it a try at 15£, this is yet another thing I would like to know how to do myself.

When you are getting a radio that has MP3/Bluetooth/USB/SD/AUX-IN on a Digital Display, having no RDS is pretty lame and annoying...
Its like buying a flash new mobile phone that only shows the callers number when it rings and not any names.

I hate when radios dont have RDS so they just display a frequency number instead of the station name.

Back in my day, there was just a crappy dial you turned. And my car didn't have FM!

I think the radio thefts have gone right down now as every car has an alarm, but if somebody did steal one they know what they are looking for they know what they are looking for (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood etc and nice ones that they can sell for £30/£40 (not the bottom of the range ones)).

I was looking for car radios about the £50+ I know this may not be up there with them but is this a good radio?

There is no doubt this is an excellent price for what it is, but I can't imagine the quality/longevity is all that great. I purchased a £30 Lidl radio to get bluetooth, usb and aux input. The bluetooth worked pretty well (though the lack of external microphone meant I had to talk louder than usual), as did the aux, but the usb failed for data transfer and phone charging. The quality of the FM radio was also pretty ropey.
The clip to hold the faceplate on eventually broke and after having it taped up for a while I decided it was time to invest in a better unit. The £65ish Alpine I have now is much better. All functions work better but the biggest improvement is in the sound quality inc. bass/treble control. I was concerned that the poor FM of the Lidl model was because of the aerial adapter I have to use but that is not the case and FM is sounding better than the original manufacturer radio.
If you're prepared to pay £50+ then I would stick to that plan.

You can buy very similar units from Amazon (fulfilled by) for a couple of quid more. Much easier to return when it doesn't work.
Also with no removable front, it's probably a magnet for thieves.

And besides I'm not really sure stereo theft is as prolific as it once was.

in my opinion u can only rely on amazon if they r supplying your items otherwise it's not really this simple to return goods especially when buyer has to pay return fees and in in a case of cheap items sometimes exceeding original item value

I did mention 'fulfilled' by Amazon. My understanding and experience is that if an item is sold by a third party but fulfilled by Amazon, the returns/customer service is the same as if the item was sold by Amazon themselves. I know that if the item is sold and dispatched by a third party the rules are different.

I would suspect most of these types don't know what they are stealing or the value of it. Unless of course you make a habit of leaving the price tags on
Plus I don't think anyone would be too concerned about the loss of a £15 stereo, it's the connected hassle and mess that is bothersome.

I bought a similar one from an Ebay U.K seller for £10 delivered on a best offer. It does what its meant to do ,i.e FM radio and connecting an I phone or I pod through the Aux .It comes with bare wires so If you don't have an ISO harness you will need to buy one and an Aerial adapter

Not bad for a cheap radio, but I'd prob spend a bit more if you are doing a lot of miles.

I had a cheap chinese radio like this, build quality was really aweful and radio signal very poor, BT was ok though.
The watts given are usually BS as well.
Hot for the price but you do get what you pay for sometimes
