I'm sure you all know the score on the refresh o2 front so this has just changed today it's the 10gb plan all colours also the 16gb variant works out at £330
Or if you want a 5s 16gb variant it's £199.99
or iphone 5c 8gb £120 only blue in stock though at this present time

Follow the link or go to O2.CO.UK
2. Select the relevant phone
3. Select SHOW TARRIFS
4. Select SHOW MORE
5. Find the tarrif with the corresponding UP FRONT COSTS from the OP (DO NOT worry about the monthly cost, they will not match the OP pricing)
6. At the bottom it will clearly state the device plan cost (which should match the OP) ***THE REASON FOR THIS IS THE AIRTIME CAN BE CANCELLED WITHOUT CHARGE***
7. Receive phone in post/pick up phone
8. Request unlock code
9. Call up and cancel airtime and pay off device plan
10. (OPTIONAL) Cancel the DD for the airtime and device plan. This will remove the chance of O2 incorrectly charging you for the airtime contract, which has happened in a few unfortunate cases.
More or less the jist of it copy n pasted from another deal

Make sure you buy Apple Care for those. Bought 2 x 5s on refresh. Both have developed faults(battery, speaker etc)
There was only 9-10 months warranty on them as well.

Why was there only 9-10 months warranty? Surely they're brand new and you could prove to Apple your purchase date.

I usually pay it all off as soon as its despatched and request the unlock code as soon as I get the imei, and refer myself for the £40 and go through tcb just in case but very doubtfull,it wil arrive in a plain box with just a lightning cable no charger no headphones but it will be pristine and probably not even registered for the Apple warranty

Hi, I am looking at the iPhone 6 using the £89.99 price plan it comes to the £329.99 under total amount payable for device, do I have to pay the £89.99 on ordering online and then pay the remaining £240 on cancellation once I have received the unlock code?
Also just to clarify, if the device is unregistered via Apple I can register it via Apple and get 12 months warranty but if it is already registered I only get the 3 months 02 warranty?
One last thing why is it important that I do not turn the phone on prior to receiving the unlock code? Will the unlock code be received by email in that case?
Thanks
essexgangsta
30 Nov 15#72
you will have to pay both, the £89 and the £329.99 to get the phone and then cancel airtime contract. yeah assuming it not been registered then register it will iTunes you will get 1 year with apple, will try my daughters when I get home.
incidently anyone transferred there stuff from one iphone to another, is it best to back the old phone up, then restore to the new phone?
the porter
30 Nov 15#73
You don't pay both you pay £329.99 £89 upfront rest on cancellation totalling £329.99 ,yes you would get the full 12 month warranty if not registered but even if it's registered for 3 months you would get the remaining 9 months
iPhones don't use unlock codes it's all done ota just insert a different sim and it unlocks you used to have to connect to iTunes
It doesn't matter about on or off during unlock that was just copy and pasted form another thread

Hi can someone please help
I choose to pay £89.99 upfront
So it would be £10.00 a month for 24
So do I go along with that to basket pay the upfront cost. Click and collect my phone tomorrow (iPhone 6)
So don't turn it on, don't use the airtime, so I wait for a code
( what is the code for?)
When I do get my code call back o2 and tell them I want to cancel my airtime and pay now the rest of balance on the iPhone 6 ?
Will the phone only work a o2 network or can you get it unlocked to any network ?
And can you turn on the phone when u get it or just leave it off, till airline cancelled ?
Please any help would be much appreciated
Does this affect your credit rating ?
Djedga to rosaleenmcd22
2 Dec 15#98
Not sure on the specific iphone / airtime you have chosen but when you go to the basket it will show you two separate costs. Device plan and airtime plan.
You will have to sign up to both, then you can decide whether or not to keep or cancel the airtime plan.
If you want to cancel and plan to use on another network you will need a code in order to unlock the phone, or it may have already been unlocked by the previous owner as it is a refurb. You can test with another sim.
Opinions differ on two of your questions :
Re turning phone on some say you need to turn on and activate the phone with the o2 sim and make a call if you want to unlock. I have done this by calling o2 on 202 as it is free. Others tell you they have unlocked using the imei supplied with the paperwork and discussing with online chat or customer services on the phone.
Once you have your unlock code or have established the phone is already unlocked by testing it with a sim from another network you can then go ahead and call o2 to cancel the airtime.
Re credit rating if you are a new customer they will do two credit scores one for each part of the deal (device and airtime). If you have lots of recent searches this could contribute to a lower score as it will lower the overall duration of your credit agreements. How important this is depends on whether you intend on taking any other credit, particularly for things like mortgages where they can be strict about recent credit history. In that scenario I would leave well alone!

Already unlocked (tested the O2 sim and my EE sim) and just called up and paid off the device and cancelled the airtime. The call lasted 12 minutes and was very painful simply because I hate lying. When I was asked why I'm canceling (I told them EE gave me a better retention deal ) he tried to see if he could match it and wanted to know the plan I had got. I just said it was a better deal, I can't think that quickly on my feet, painful! Direct Debit not set up on my bank account yet, but will cancel it as soon as it is. My my02 account access has been removed but I now just see a 'disconnected' bill for the first monthly payment. Does this change when they adjust the final bill? How do they communicate the final amount? Or do they rely on you checking?
I'll be keeping an eye on that to make sure it doesn't go up to the full contract amount! I won't be cancelling the direct debit because I don't want my credit rating to take a hit

Is this deal still valid ? I cant see the details for cancelling the contract free of charge ( details below ). Can anyone help confirm where i should see this ? Thanks
6. At the bottom it will clearly state the device plan cost (which should match the OP) ***THE REASON FOR THIS IS THE AIRTIME CAN BE CANCELLED WITHOUT CHARGE***

WHEN ringing o2 to cancel airtime contract do you need to go to cancellations dept or can you talk to anyone..I just hate it when they ask you like 50 questions like they don't know what you're talking about..would much rather speak to a o2 refresh expert without the hassle of who what why when and made to feel like a criminal lol.

I am about to order this phone.
Could someone please tell me:-
- Can you just put an existing Sim card from another network into the phone when it arrives, without ever using an O2 sim, or do you need to register it to O2 first?

19 Dec 15#157
See my post above final bill was generated after I spoke to online chat about the first month to tell them it was incorrect.
They told me it was all cancelled and the final bill would be zero and I need not do anything.
But when it showed up I got an email and it was for the full amount of the airtime to be taken on 2nd January. I have now cancelled the dd on their advice after contacting them again to have a whinge!

in my daughters iphone 6 i just put her tesco sim inside it and it worked. with regards to the billing i had a email saying your first bill and opened it up and it says you have nothing to pay. i did can the DD aswell though

19 Dec 151#154
Well I would definitely recommend cancelling the dd...
My final bill included the full airtime contract so I have just done so to avoid that being charged...
According to customer services this was down to a system glitch. Yeah right incompetence more likely.
I have been told they can't cancel it at their end my only choice is to either let the payment go through and claim it back or to cancel the dd so I decided to do that in the end.

All very painless for me.
The unlock for the iphone took 48 hours and once itunes confirmed the phone was unlocked I called O2 on 0344 8090202 and paid off the device plan.
The lady on the phone asked if I wanted to terminate the airtime contract and she then cancelled it immediately, 5 minutes on the call tops.

My experience was the same up until this point. But it was after the easy phone calls that the issues started
Handset received

Paid off handset
Cancelled airtime (assured no charge would be taken)
Then...
Charge appeared for first month
Called to query, (this charge was cancelled and assured the remaining airtime bill would definitely not be charged)
Amount was taken from my account for first month
Final bill arrived....with full airtime amount showing owing
Phoned to query (this charge was cancelled final bill would arrive in 3 days but to gurantee no payment taken I would need to cancel then direct debit)
Reluctantly cancelled the direct debit and then the final bill was amended!
Filled in the online form to claim a refund of the amount taken for month 1
Sorted in the end but a bit of a hassle. Keep an eye on your account/final bills if you haven't already cancelled the direct debit you may find that despite the "painless" process they still try to take the first month and then the complete airtime.

Bought 2 handsets, one in Oct, one in Nov, first months bill is automatically generated so I was told. Took a month to claim first amount back, on their advice got the bank to do a charge back for the second amount. On both occasions they tried to charge for data usage which was eventually refunded as I had paid in full for the phones before they had even arrived. With both orders bills for an early termination fee in excess of £550 also had to be removed.

I ordered the iPhone 6 128gb Silver, came without original box or accessories, however the phone was brand spanking new.
Couple of things to consider before purchasing:
1. The phone is showing on Apple Warranty Checker site with 1 year warranty so you have the 1 Year warranty out the box. However Apple will not sell you Apple Care + as the phone has been previously activated. Quite annoying but lucky enough I have mobile phone insurance with my bank.
2. The phone doesn't come with the original box which devalues at point of sale.
3. You will most likely have to pay the first months airtime and then claim a refund, if you cancel your DD, you may receive a penalty on your credit report.
4. UKMail the delivery service are a pain in the ass until you book an allocated time slot.
Enjoy guys!

There was only 9-10 months warranty on them as well.

If I didn't use any call/txt/data, would that mean I am paying nothing for air time?
or they are doing it for the proportion of the days you before me canceling the contract?
Go to the furthest down deal on 02 usually last is best
Posted Samsung S6 deal @ £259.99
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/o2-refresh-samsung-galaxy-s6-refurb-259-99-2337449
any ideas on the warranties for the iphone 5s and 6 on the refurb refresh deals? can't seem to find any info on the site.
no mention on the 6
iPhone 5C
Galaxy Note 3
Both brand new still in factory wraps - unregistered with 12 / 24 Months Warranty
See post #12 here
6. At the bottom it will clearly state the device plan cost (which should match the OP) ***THE REASON FOR THIS IS THE AIRTIME CAN BE CANCELLED WITHOUT CHARGE***
The devise CASH price is £389.99 while the OP was £509. That's not right is it?
Also just to clarify, if the device is unregistered via Apple I can register it via Apple and get 12 months warranty but if it is already registered I only get the 3 months 02 warranty?
One last thing why is it important that I do not turn the phone on prior to receiving the unlock code? Will the unlock code be received by email in that case?
Thanks
incidently anyone transferred there stuff from one iphone to another, is it best to back the old phone up, then restore to the new phone?
iPhones don't use unlock codes it's all done ota just insert a different sim and it unlocks you used to have to connect to iTunes
It doesn't matter about on or off during unlock that was just copy and pasted form another thread
thanks in advance
I can no longer find the £449.99 for the Plus (£209.99 upfront + 24 x £10)
asked why I wanted to cancel and said I had found a better sim only deal
I checked the serial number on the apple site and I have 6 months warranty left so it is definitely been registered. 10 days would be cutting it fine on the 14 days so hope it comes through ASAP
£59.99 upfront
£44.00 monthly
then cancel the contract straight away.
That said, I'd still be worried about O2 charging me the first £44.
FYI the bit that I didn't put two and two together with was this; "(DO NOT worry about the monthly cost, they will not match the OP pricing) "
With hindsight I understand what you meant!
ive done refresh in the past for iphones and the code was usually sent within 24hrs. been abut 3 working days for me now.
Does the order of events matter? Can I pay off handset while waiting for the unlock and then cancel airtime when the unlock comes through?
I don't want to cancel the airtime until I know that it will be unlocked for sure I have a very good deal on my 3 sim only that I want to continue using...
Thanks again op.
Also, they asked me no questions at all about why I was cancelling...
1st time via online chat was assured i was put on priority unlock so would be 24 hours
2nd time via online chat follow up 24 hours later was promised it would be done by the end of that day
3rd time via phone chased up and was told 'iphones never take more than 72 hours but you just have to be patient'
I got an email on the 72nd hour saying the phone was unlocked, there is no code or nothing else you need to do
cancellation and final payment was also very easy
Thanks OP great deal
I'll be keeping an eye on that to make sure it doesn't go up to the full contract amount! I won't be cancelling the direct debit because I don't want my credit rating to take a hit
