The Gressingham Duck is a remarkable breed, grown on Red Tractor assured farms in East Anglia and famous for its meaty succulence. Gressingham whole duck is fantastic with roast potatoes, vegetables and gravy.
The well-bred duck
The Gressingham breed came about when the small but flavourful wild Mallard was crossed with the larger Pekin, giving a meaty, succulent duck with more breast meat and less fat. Remember, if it's not from us, it's not Gressingham.
The cared-for duck
We breed, hatch, rear and then prepare the ducks by hand here in the neighbouring counties of Suffolk and Norfolk. We're a family-owned and run business, determined to do the right thing by our ducks.

They are not the same ducks. Having spent most of my childhood running about the farm where these are grown (redgrave) I can tell you that these things are big scary animals. Nothing like the things that swam around the village pond.

Personally I prefer to see a duck, nice and crispy, wrapped in a warm pancake with a bit of spring onion and a drizzle of hoisin sauce. Not that keen on cucumber personally.

Haha! I prefer to see all animals grazing happily in the world than served up. I prefer to see all sealife happily swimming in the sea than landed on someone's plate. I prefer to see all vegetables nicely grown out of the ground. I prefer to see all fruit hanging off trees and bushes than picked and plucked.

I went into Asda Lancaster today and these are 1kg and not whole duck...but the crown. I showed this post to the store assistant and he assured me that the picture used for this post was the 1kg crown I was looking at. :disappointed:

Just to make you aware, please check your receipts... I bought it this morning but even though the label says £5, it scanned as £10 in ASDA Gravesend. The cashier had to override the price manually.
