okay price but there's a reason you don't see glass kettles very often......even in soft water areas this will look awful in just a few months

I filter my water first before I put it into my glass kettle, no limescale at all.

Yeah that German stuff they never test and then sell to unsuspecting Brits, bound to have your house burnt to a cinder as soon as you flick the switch.

I've had the Russell Hobbs version of this for around a year now. Yes, it needs descaling every couple of months but that takes 10 minutes. Well worth it simply because of the reaction it gets when people see it!
Not sure if this one has the blue LED light that goes around the whole kettle when you turn it on, Russell Hobbs version does and it looks even better.
Plus, wouldn't you want to see how much limescale is actually in your kettle, instead of not and simply ignoring what could be in there?

I have this too and completely agree id rather descale once every few months, a scale free kettle saves on the electric too like a Immersion heater

Get yourself a bag of citric acid from ebay for descaling for a couple of pounds, no need for expensive one use descaling sachets from the supermarket.

I've had a Breville Puratea glass kettle for about three years and have never had to descale my kettle. Mind you I live in Scotland that luckily benefits from soft water....

That is 50th reason why i want to move Scotland! where about you live, because here in midlands, in this zombie nation side they poison us a lot.. So tons of fluoride is pumped into the water stream.
I will wait till 2017 once Scotland will be independent (100%!) and join you guys.

I cannot believe this, what filter do you use? Because filters like Brita do not remove fluoride and other so called "minerals " AT ALL - tested it many ways.
i drink distilled water and that is the only way to keep my glass kettle clean and body healthy (dis-pike what your authority has to say). Well rain water would have same good effect, because it is 99.95% same like distilled water.

I bought the Tchibo version of this a few years ago for £25.It lasted 14 months then failed just out of warranty.
OP doesn't mention how long the warranty is on this but I'd be wary if less than 3 years.

I live in scotland aswel and i had this kettle for a year. Its cean as a whistle. The blue light goes all round the edge.
While pouring it does splash all over however i took the plastic thingy out and it solved the problem. :-)
For some it may be to heavy to lift i got used to it.

I have the kettle and the toaster. I live in North East England and no problems with anything, not even limescale.

Flouride and limescale (hard water) are completely different things. I guess it's not surprising if you make that basic an error that you think fluoride is "poison".

You might want to consult a doctor, if you are using properly distilled water then you are doing yourself a lot of harm. The minerals in water are neccesary for your health and totally messes with the chemistry your body uses to take on an process fluids. Totally pure H2O is really not good for you for long term use. Demineralised/deionised/distilled water is not found in nature, why would you think that would be good for you?

rain water is 100% distilled water, what you are on about?! Your authorities lie to you make sure you die off quicker and less artificial wars we will need for population control. Are you still watching tv and read newspaper? No wonder you head full of crap like this. I have tested water in every single way it is possible and i drink distilled water myself and i can assure you are WRONG including 90% of the brainwashed nation.

Anyone know a kettle like this but smaller, like 1L or so. I can only find a very expensive Sage by Heston one. I guess having a heavier bulkier one doesn't really matter... but I think I'd prefer smaller.

Bought this to see if it was quieter than my one year old - but incredibly noisy - Russell Hobbs metal bodied kettle - and what a success.
We can actually hold a conversation in the kitchen while the kettle boils. Looks great, pours nicely, and as I am in Scotland, limescale should hopefully not be an issue. Half the price of the equivalent Russell Hobbs glass kettle and a three year warranty.

It doesn't save any electricity, though it might be quicker to boil and the element might last longer.

What is the power of the kettle? Can't believe this isn't stated in the description! Lower powered ones (~2kW) are quieter but take longer to boil than full-powered ones (~3kW).

This looks good. BUT mine literally fell apart after about 6 months light-medium daily use. Initially the press to lift lid button didn't work properly, then completely stopped, thereafter, the underside of the lid literally broke to bits. Going to by myself a decent kettle instead that'll last for a bit more!
The difference between warranty and guarantee is vital to know. Warranty only covers the actual function of the kettle, I. E. That it boils. Mechanical damage is not considered.
