Heat, thanks! I'd been waiting for a decent price. Cost me £6.77 thanks to some remaining credit and reward points. Sacrilige, but I never fully completed Gears 1, loved Gears 2, thought 3 was decent. Never played Judgement so I look forward to replaying them all with the backwards compatibility and finally playing all the way through the first one! :laughing:

I thought they were remasters and therefore Xbox one native?

The advertised 60 Fps is only on multiplayer, not on single player campaign/story mode.

9 years since I first played this, hope the rose tinted glasses work

I got super excited for the remake and then when I played it I discovered how basic the gameplay was. By staying true to the original, they've lost a lot of things that made Gears 3 gameplay the pinnacle of the series. I haven't even gotten half way through the campaign, and I preordered this.

I think it's if you play online before the end of the year then you are eligible to get the gears collection via email (download code) from microsoft

Yeah Gears of War really doesn't stand the test of time. I have Master Chief collection and it really does stand up amazingly well, especially with the updated visuals on Halo 1 and 2. Even the AI stands up well. Gears however just seems so shallow today and basic. The hype was mostly over the visuals as it was the best looking game early on last gen. Playing it now I got bored very fast.

Really wish I could have got this, played it and got the GW1-3 in preparation of when I eventually get my XB1. Would have been all over this.

Question for gaming enthusiasts. I spent some time marveling at the details in Gears 2 especially in the Hive (where the Queen was found) all those golden embellishments on the ceilings etc and then if you zoomed in with the longshot you could see even more detail that was otherwise not visible. So here is the question - was the detail especially rendered for just the zoom view of the longshot or was that detail all there anyway?

Gears of War 2 has never been on GwG but all the others have.

Are you referring to the remastered version here or the original game? Is the online component of Gears of War 2015 supported post release by the new devs? How does it run online, is it balanced and polished?

Because I don't recall there being any serious issues with the 2006 original multiplayer other than OP active reload sniping.

Note I highlighted Halo, which is an even older game but is really much better and stood the test of time gameplay wise much better too. Gears 1 is just incredibly one dimensional in retrospect or even in comparison to an older game in Halo. The AI is quite bad, particularly for squad mates (i.e Dom) but not much better for the enemies. There isn't a lot of variety of enemies or alternate strategy for the ones you do face, barring a couple of all too brief boss battles. The multiplayer saved it, but that was kinda ruined in the sequel as well.

This doesn't have quite the glowing reviews MCC had, many pointing out the same as I felt. The rapid price drops on this reflects that IMO. It's worth it for Gears fans but I don't think the upgrades are on par with what was accomplished with the earlier Halo games either. It's cheap for this price, if you fancy competitive Gears again I suppose.

I would guess it did load in extra detail. Borderlands does this as you move closer to objects the higher resolution textures are loaded. Just cause 2 was a great example of a game that loaded more detail as you approached. If it looked like this when you were playing then it probably was doing something like that.

Could not see it loading though. Pick up the sniper rifle, zoom and it was all there. Same with just walking about normally - couldn't see a 'draw point' type thing going on.

So I installed this and played 1 game of multiplayer online. I believe this is the only criteria to get the free 360 games. When can I expect the 360 games to be issued. I thought it was after Dec but see people getting theirs already.

Have to say that this is an excellent redo of the original game graphics wise. Much better looking than Halo 5 which imo is awful relative to the current gen of games.

You need the latest dashboard. And then go to pending installs or what ever it is called.

I have the latest dashboard but cannot see the GOW games in my games or queue.

Horde question. When they make gears 2 and 3 available, will horde be playable online? And also any news if 2 players on playing local splitscreen could go online in a horde match? It always annoyed me on the last gen that you couldnt horde online splitscreen but could offline.

Ordered online using a combination of Reward Card points & a Gift card. Looking forward to giving it a whirl at some point as I've never played the additional PC content. Takes me back as the launch of the original GOW was the reason I got my first 360 all those years ago.
