I Got this message from EE
" More data just for you! Here's another 100GB a month for two months if you top up £10 by 11 Nov. Once you top up, text DATA100 to 150 and enjoy!"

So you can text DATA100 to 150 after topping up to get 200gb for 2 months!

'Get Deal' doesn't work?

the £10 is for the minutes and texts and data and when that runs out you usually have to top up again to get anything but the month after that they give you 100 gb and then the month after that you get another 100 gb , without having to top up , so its pretty simple no top up but you get 100 gb , so for me getting all that data is free as i dont have to top up again simples really

Can i just check the following please:

So you order the xmas sim, put it in your phone, top up £10, then send a text to get the extra 200GB of data.

How do you get any calls or text allowance? Or is this where you'd spend the £10 top up on a calling/text plan? If you didn't buy a plan would any calls/texts come out of the £10 credit?

Thanks

I dont believe EE mess around with that sort of thing anymore. With double speed there is plenty for everyone.

Most likely they are doing maintaince on masts in your area.

You can check status of signal in db (less is better) & double speed etc do you have an iphone? google 'iphone field test mode EE UK'

Ordered the Christmas sim. Topped up with £10 on to the phone top card that came in the pack. Txt Christmas100 to 150 and hey presto you get 100th data each month (200) in total. Popped the simple into my new Tp link mifi and bobs your uncle.

Well well well... Thanks, I might just have to check my other SIMs!

I currently have:
1x Dan and Phil Limited Edition SIM - may have expired?
1x SUMMER Promotion 100GB SIM - used
1x CHRISTMAS 100GB SIM Promotion - new, needs topping up this week
1x Christmas 100GB Promotion SIM - in use

Imagine all the free 4G data I'll have access to if any of these other SIMs will work?

With regards to the Dan & Phil SIM from last year, they'll still work as long as you activated the SIM card (i.e. inserted it into your phone and allowed the SIM to connect to the netwok) but DID NOT use any data. The data starts from the moment you start using it.

Yes it worked on my summer sim.
The free data bundle on the summer sim expired over a week ago. Read this thread so switched on the dumb phone and received the text to inform I qualify.
Tried sending DATA100 without topping up to see what response I get - got reply saying my sim not eligible. Went a head with £10top up anyway, then texted DATA100 and immediately received text to confirm 100GB bundle added, valid for 2 months but it starts immediately, cannot bank it for later use.
People sending the DATA100 text without topping up to test eligibility will not get a valid response.
If you got the text, then topup £10, send the text, you will get it.

That is correct... 5 days. If you want to stall the data kicking in the pack needs to be stopped and data100 sent from a dumb phone or one with the data turned off. The 2x 100GB data should then remain "dormant" for up to 180 days

Average size of a decent 720p rip: 4GB. Full 1080p at 60fps usually comes in at around 8-10GB. A decent game can range from anywhere between 5gb-60gb.

Let's pretend that over the two days the individual downloads 3 1080p movies each day. That's about 60gb. Added to that are two decent games at 30gb each. That's a total of 120gb.

Chuck in a couple of seasons of a show in 1080p and that's your 200gb done. It is possible, just highly unlikely.

CHRISTMAS100 just worked on a summer sim for me which I topped up before the 11th after receiving the 'DATA100' text.

I'm not sure therefore what the difference is between the codes - maybe DATA100 is time limited as indicated by the text insisting on top up before the 11th and then the suggestion that you have to text soon after. CHRISTMAS100 may last as long as it does for the new christmas sims. This would be consistent with the suggestion above that there are in fact no 'summer' or 'christmas' sims - just promo sims which all react the same way.

I can confirm the data started immediately despite me trying all the known tricks to postpone it (and I have 5 sims so do know what I'm doing). This seems to be linked to the lack of pack to stop. Further investigation required if anyone is willing to!
hcc27
6 Nov 15 #221
Wow that's harsh, you've got every right to be peed off! I think they should look at those using 50GB+ per month, which gets into broadband territory. If they allowed 100GB per month some folks would probably end up ditching their landlines and broadband contracts.

kar999
13 Nov 15 #244
I was led to beleive that after topping up £10 you have 5 days to text for the offer. In the past stoppack would ensure that the data didn't kick in straight away provided it was done from a dumb phone or with data turned off. This was certainly the case with the Summer and Glasto Sims. I still have an unused Summer Sim with the 100Gb add-on still waiting to be used.

I have to report that STOP PACK does not work in case any one else gets caught. I had the SUMMER100 sim, and followed this STOP PACK. I the put the spare phone in a drawer, and today looking to start to use the free data, I had messages like:
"Your 100GB of free data has now ended. We hope you enjoyed it" etc.
Otherwise on the STOP pack thread everything looks OK. However it says "When your current pack ends we will not add a new one. If you'd like to proceed just reply YES". Which I did.
But reading that message, it sounds like the STOP PACK would have stopped a renewal from this wording ? So I guess I also used up my £10 on a spare phone in the drawer.
Anyway, clearly not a reliable technique, so will not be using it in future
nick1austin
15 Nov 15 #248
If you want to delay the start of the 100GB 2 month pack you need to either use a dumb phone or turn DATA off. The behaviour you describe is what will happen if data is used in that brief period between sending YES but before switching off the phone.
naomipunkclan
15 Nov 15 #249
The data was turned off throughout. I am reporting what happened. Phone is Windows 8.1 Nokia Lumia. Settings->data connection -> Off
So I don't know what the glitch was, but it is not reliable, so I will not rely on this in future.

I should add though - it is a great deal if used as ee intended. I just will not be trying the trickery as outlined as although many report it worked for them.

Just text 'STOP PACK' to 150 and £10 will be retained. I did the same last week and it worked.

1) Text 'STOP PACK' to 150
2) You will get a text and it will ask to confirm.
3) Send 'Y' to 150 to confirm
4) Pack is stopped
5) Topup £10
6) Send 'DATA100' to 150
7) Enjoy 200 GB data

I managed to follow the instructions here(probaby another EE thread) and on Saturday stopped pack first, then topped up £10(online by credit card on EE website), and then activated the 200GB offer (CHRISTMAS100), got confirmation texts etc.

But then late on Monday night suddenly got another text from EE saying thanks for topping up £10, even though I've never done it myself/or give permission to anyone, got quite suspicious about the "auto-topup", went to MyEE account to check and it said "E-Topup Payment", which I've not done before, so is this the "free" £10 offer/credit that you're talking about?
